I got razors genesis when I was like 15. I skated on and off and there were no parks so we had to skate street. Then it became illegal with tickets being given for it. I got back into it recently with teaching my niece how to skate and found out a park had been made locally. So with my adult salary got shadows and have been loving it.

I'm 40 now my first skates were the original M12 and it's crazy to think that this boot with just a few tweaks to it is still in the top aggressive skates on the market over 20 years later 🤣... I had the Argons Billiris pro model after that and that skate was amazing at the time, I wish it made a real comeback cause the style of it was so raw and mean af 💪... After 20 years off, I'm back on the sways and really liking them, I'm still a bit rusty but new skates are way better for soul and topside tricks no doubt! Curious what the new Roces are like though... Keep bringing it with the content kid 🔥

@@dimitriharrison3053 I had the lightnings as well, then upgraded to the white chocolates. Then I quit. I remember Hoax. So was having the ability to take pics and videos with a phone... that fits in your pocket?! My favorite videos were Holy Rail and Uncommon Ground. The last one I bought was Saltless Water, that was a level up from the skating in HR and UG. I recently got Aeon Basic 60's and man, skating is so much fun. have no idea why I stopped. Hi! I've been skating for about 20 years. The setups i had: - Tempish extreme (for 2 weeks), - Salomon st8, - Deshi Ian Mcleod, - Razors Cult Shima 3 (one of my favourites. About 4 years on the streets), - Some black and white Deshi that I exchanged for... - Razors Murda 2 (I love them!), - Custom Murdas 2 without skin and too big plates, - Valo Erik Bailey (the skates was too heavy and to short for me, but grinding on them was nice), - USD Evo 09 (For the first time I realized i love tall and ridig skates, but after month of skating they were very unconfortable and I had to sell them), - Razors SL Horngaher (The skates was to flexible and i had control problems), - USD Aeon 72- first flat setup that changed my skating forever. I love them! - USD Aeon 60- My first new setup, that came when pandemic started

@@BrandonDrummond Aeon is a specific skate. You can love or hate it. A hard shell can be demanding and can sometimes be uncomfortable without using a dremmel :D. As I wrote with Evo, I fell in love with stiff skates because they give me a lot of control. Aeons thanks to the shell + frame technology in my opinion are the best skates for flat riding. With 72 mm wheels, I was able to ride on handrails without wheelbites (maybe beacause I'm soul grind skater) . Everyone has their own preferences and I can't guarantee that you like it. Once I tried it I can't ride anything else :D

Don't normally comment, on anything, but this is fun taking a trip down memory lane! I aggressive skated for about 8 years, took nearly 15 years off, and now I'm getting back into it with a fury I didn't even have back then. I've been skating as long as i can remember stuff and I'm 35. First skates that weren't made by Fisher Price and weren't 100% plastic -including wheels- were Blade Runners by RB. I got them in 1994 and used them until they didn't fit anymore. By this time, I had discovered the wonders of aggressive skating, I really wanted to get into it and made my mom buy me a pair. My first aggressive skates were K2 Bing Airs in 1998. I used those until they were completely ruined. My next pair were Salomon STI pro's in 2001/2. The best out-of-the-box skate I ever had. They were the first UFS skates and I even kept the liners for future skates. Which were Rollerblade TRS downtown's in 2005. I DID NOT NEED NEW SKATES. I just wanted something fresh. About a year later, I was 21 or 22 and life started getting in the way. I was an uninsured adult working full time so aggressive skating officially took a backseat. Though I never really stopped skating. I used aggressive skates to just travel around in for 3 full years before realizing that was the wrong way to do it, so I went to a play it again sports and got a 2nd hand pair of k2 soul 7's that I've been using for the past decade fairly consistently, so the liners became really gross, and they are not removable. So it was time to retire them. A bittersweet moment. Which brings me to this year. Pandemic happened, I became unemployed, on unemployment, and getting more money from those unemployment checks than I really needed. So I bought 2 new pairs of skates. The first was Flying Eagle F110. I credit these with getting me into big wheel blading, but I absolutely hate the boots and they are so uncomfortable I already have to nix them. Less than a week of having these, I ordered my first pair of aggressive skates in 15 years. USD realms. I also found these to be extremely uncomfortable and got intuition liners for them (cheapest skate, most expensive liners... I know, I know...) Replaced the frames with kaltik mery Munoz pros, and also got kizer trimax to satisfy my big wheel fixation. I'm in love with this setup and ROLLERBLADING SAVED MY LIFE. Pandemic ended life as I knew it, but it rekindled my love affair with rollerblading.

The rollerblade CI5 and their various versions were actually really good skates and the first ones not needing a grind plate. It may seems strange nowadays but I really liked them for torques and I was rolling flat ( with very small wheels like 55 ). I remember Taig Chris drilled them to put wheels 2 et 3 further out and have a bigger h block space.

Cool insight. Im 31 y/o. I started in early 2001 in the PACIFIC NW. I had no idea that at the time I was an hour away from the BOMBAS CON DIAS crew - AARON FEINBERGS crew. One time Brian Maxwell and Sapata came to our park in the valley and back flipped our biggest gap at the park... EPIC. I was too young to know and this was way before social media but in around that time and earlier was where Aaron filmed a lot of the BRAIN FEAR GONE section in the PORTLAND/Lake Oswego area. My first skates were a pair of K2 125's, then I got my friends old Razors Elliot 2's, Then I traded for a buddies old Shima 3's, cream and white color. I then skated Cult 6's with all white ABLE frames from like 2007-2010 and I took a break from skating like 2010-16/17'. In 2017 I got some all black SL's and have been skating since. I wanna get new skates eventually.. Those White SL's look ILL! Im a Razors guy but I would like to get a pair of the Montre Livingston Carbon Free's with the Dreadlocks if USD WILL EVER RE-RELEASE THEM

1. £5 second hand pair off eBay bought for a laugh to go with a fancy dress costume. The joke was on me as I was instantly hooked and knew within an hour of wearing them that skating needed to be a massive part of my life. 2. Seba FR2s. 4x80mm. A great beginner/intermediate skate, manoeuvrable and comfortable. 3. Powerslide Swells. 3x100mm. I loved the bigger wheels as they rolled the crappy surfaces in my city so much better, but they gave me very bad pressure points eventually leading to bursitis so they weren't for me. 4. USD Aeons. 60mm flat. My only aggressive skates to date. I'm way too old to be starting aggressive skating and the mental challenge is several frustrating steps too far tbh but giving it a shot anyway. Great skates, especially for an aggressive beginner. Nice wide h-block and soul plate, though the plate is quite slow and sticky which isn't ideal for an old and ultra-tentative noob. 5. Powerslide Nexts. 3x110mm. Loved them, though putting them on could be a slow process - maybe I'm just cack-handed! Great for cruising and commuting. 6. Rollerblade Twisters 3x110mm. New, only been skating them a couple of weeks. Love them.

Like in between your K2’s and Aragon’s skates. My last skate was a crazy hybrid that I made. It was the Aaron Feinberg USD Throne 2 or something that. It was like that sick cream colored one. But then I did a black tumor plate (I don’t even know if that’s still a thing) and then I put the shima 2 Razor liner and that soft section on the shimas around it he laces that was like black and white leather or something and unstitched that from the razor boot and stitched it onto the thrones 😍 still the best looking and best feeling skate ever! I think the best skates of them all were the Vinny Minton for sure. They were the semi softboot Salomon and were the comfiest things going. Worst was either the Graal or the Deshi. The history as far as I can remember: K2 Fatty SC (white/blue), Roces 5Th element (maroon and WAY too large), Salomon St90 (still WAY too large), USD Psirus 1st Gen Josh Petty (still too big), USD Psirus Julio black (first time in my size), USD Prirus 2nd Gen Dustin Latimer (terrible Kizer Frame with Grindpins and Kizer written on them), Deshi DK2 Ian McLeod (terrible), Razors Shima 3 (Cult, best skate until this date), Salomon St Rob Thompson, USD grey Feinberg Mindgame Thrones (never skated those, I just bought them and sold again...stupid me), Razors Cult 6, Razors Elliott 3, Razors Cult LE, Razors Cult 3, Deshi CH1, Xsjado Farmer 09 (white), Usd Throne Sean kelso, Razors Icons2 (my first SL skate), Valo AB1(never could skate the Valo), Xsjado Basic 09, Xsjado Farmer 08 (with a monkey graphic on the cuff), REMZ Haffey 2.0, Remz os3, Usd Carbon2 black, Usd Carbon 2 white, Valo V13 (bone white), Razors Cult Cream (skated once then sold), USD Aeon Nick Lomax (brown)... and a few more that I just bought and sold again during the periods when I wasn't actually skating.. This is riddiculous and now I get the picture why I was always completely broke..wtf. Great video btw Brandon! Keep up the great work. Just became a member of your channel!!

I think I can honestly say everyone loved this story! What would've made it a little cooler is if you and everyone commenting with all the skates they've had gave sizes to help others with sizing questions.

Any idea what those RB skates you had first were called? I had a pair in the mid 90s and cannot for the life of me remember. Although I quite liked them, and paid quite a lot more than $50!

Great video, always find peoples skate history interesting. I gotta ask what's the story behind the picture at 1:44 is it your first brush with the law? All I can see from the picture is a wet halfpipe, a group of kids (including you) and what looks like a random adult and a police officer... 🤔
@BrandonDrummond4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! 😆 nah, it's quiet the opposite. That's a photo for the newspaper about us helping design our small town a skate park to replace the halfpipe. The cop helped us make it happen, although the park came out pretty bad 😆. I made a video about it ages ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpbIdGN4aMigm7c

I got a question. I got a set of Roces 1992 and I love them however I also got a pair of Roces M12 and they feel so weird in comparison to the 1992 urban model. I’m new to inline but I noticed the hardness to make my m-12 turn. Is that because of the sole plate. I even put some rounded wheels and still hard to make them turn like the urban ones. Any thoughts or advice?
@Inlinesteve3 жыл бұрын
Hi, very interesting video! I started on some usd classic throne 😍 then switched to remz which also made my first topsides possible then went to xsjado which i have been skating for around 10 years and now swiched to m12 and kinda struggeling pretty hard with the m12, they look so sick but my grinding got worse than with the xsjado.. I think i struggle with the soulplate.. I think about switching to the razor sl do you think that would be good?
@BrandonDrummond3 жыл бұрын
Hey. Thanks for commenting 🙏. I feel you on the M12 souls being hard. I'm on Aeons now and they're so much easier! Topsides and groove tricks all came back to me. The SL would be a great choice. That skate treated me so well. Either that or a USD sway will be good. Good luck and keep shedding
