I have been watching a few of The Chosen episodes everyday since their release. Absolutely mesmerized by the Beatitude episode. It's getting to the point where, if I hear or read a Scripture, I picture Jonathan Roumie as the speaker. But, episode 3/8, I couldn't stop sobbing. The love that Jesus displayed toward Peter and the explanation of why He gives us trials to strengthen our faith...it works.
@mellyq92 Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. (About the picturing the actors not the beatitudes episode) Thats why I had to stop watching it. I had trouble not imposing the things the show made up onto scripture. For the record I'm not saying that the show lied about anything but in order to make a show they have to fill in the gaps of what we know happened with what reasonably could have happened. That sounds like a good episode though.
@teresaward7239 Жыл бұрын
I agree! I also stopped watching The Chosen despite enjoying it and being emotionally impacted by it. I feel it is very dangerous to allow a worldly image (handsome which is the opposite of Isaiah’s description of Jesus) to capture your heart and mind. I want to stay as far away from open doors to darkness as possible. Picturing Jonathan Roumi feels very close to idolatry or at the very least a sin against God. Better safely walking the narrow path than risking finding myself to have drifted onto the wide road only to wake up as I am falling into eternal darkness. But that’s just me. May God bless each of us with all the characteristics discussed in the beatitudes. ❤

It’s amazing that the entire teachings in the NT comes from the OT scriptures. Too many don’t see it. They are even doing the Holy Days of Lev 23 in Acts 20&21 and taking Torah keeping Nazarite vows n doing the offerings of the Nazarite vows of Numbers 6 in Acts 21 and Acts 18. Messiah never changed 1 Corinthians 10 .....and MESSIAH, we can see is the same all through the Bible , see Judges 13 n etc.... Book of Hebrews also shows this.

I have always understood "blessed" to be a word that sums up the concept in Scripture of being "deeply, spiritually satisfied." Plug that in to the front end of the Beatiudes, and we can begin to see that they are the progression of and to salvation...in other words, God's plan of salvation in Christ. "poor in spirit = recognizing one's sinful state; "Mourn" = recognizing our need to repent of our sins; "meek" -= those who humble themselves before the Lord; "hunger...for righteousness = longing for Christ (Messiah); "merciful" = those who recognize God's mercy and their need for it; "pure in heart" = knowing our hearts are deceitful and in need of salvation; "peacefmakers = those who know the peace Jesus brings; "persecuted" = knowing that following Christ will bring ridicule and danger; "revile and persecute" = evidence of salvation through Christ, The Truth. That is why our reward in waiting for us in heaven.

I really like your series on misreading scripture. The Jewish context is so very important to know when reading the Bible. It opens up soon much! Even simple stories, like the woman who touched Jesus' robe and what significance of the robe as well! Brandon, you do a great job bringing this out! Very few do that. I did find and read a Jewish cultural Bible. I only have a e copy and wish to get a hard copy. To make it easier to move around in it.

@@dominicpardo4783 Bart Ehrman believes the historical Jesus existed. Start there. Read the gospel accounts of His life and evaluate His teachings for yourself. Start with the gospel of John. You do not need to get lost in semantics and intellectual gymnastics of history and archaeology and philosophy to find the truth. The truth is actually quite simple, yet it is hidden to the world because of pride. There is nothing that requires more faith in the universe than to believe the idea that there is no Creator and all of this is the product of some random chance multiplied almost to infinity over an equally large amount of time. God exists, and there is plenty of evidence for His existence and works throughout creation so that none are without excuse just as the bible testifies. This is a huge problem, because if God exists and is holy, perfect and just there will come a day when all of our misdeeds will be accounted for. The bible says that we will all be resurrected on the day of judgment, some to rejoicing others to weeping. Nobody will get out of this event, the only question is did you have faith in the perfect work of Christ on the cross as the payment for your sins. God's offer through Jesus Christ is a personal, intimate relationship with the Creator and an eternal life after the end of this age. There is nothing better, and there is nothing outside of it either. Yet because of pride many find these things foolishness, again just as the bible says. We can either take the bible's testimony as the word of God or we can ridicule it as just some made up collection of stories. The consequences for these different perspectives are very grave, so much so that any honest person would want to do their due diligence on the matter before committing to an opinion - let alone such an uneducated one as what you present. Recent research has shown that the bible has over 70,000 cross-references to itself despite being composed by 80+ authors over 1500 years. Anyone who has read the bible knows it is absolutely consistent through and through, and the layers are truly mindblowing to the point where the conclusion that there is actually only one author, God, is the only thing possible. There is also so much archaeological support for the events reported in the bible that it is used as a resource in ANE studies, something that no other text favors because the traditions of these people were to elaborate and mythologize everything. Compare this to the Hebrews that had an impeccable tradition of scribing and passing down information and there is no comparison. The bible is a unique book, and if you are to form an opinion on it - an opinion that literally leads to life or death - it is to your advantage to do your due diligence thoroughly if you are honest about wanting to know the truth.

@danceoflifepodcast When did l say the historical Jesus didn't exist? Nice copy and paste. Good on you for the logical fallacy of assumption. I've read the Bible cover to cover. Several times. Start with John? The latest chronologically? Therefore, the most embellished? There isn't a shred of contemporaneous corroboration. It's nonsense.

I’m not sure how I already got this, but when I first heard the beatitudes the pronunciation was bless-Ed sounds like bless+Ed, and I always assumed that meant that person already embodied that blessing and that is wasn’t talking about a future thing, yet I understood that if we come to be as the people described we too would be in fact blessed, and eventually bless-Ed as in the present or already blessed.

Love your Channel. Just wanted to drop a quick note. In Hebrew there is the word Baruch for Bless which literally means 'to Bend the knee' But in Psalm 1 where it says Blessed in the Man, the Word is Ashrei (ah-sh Ray). Which means Happy and Content, satisfied. This would be a better term to use for the Sermon on the Mount instead of Blessed. Happy and Content is the person who hungers and thirsts for Righteoussness for they shall be Filled. My Hebrew-English Bible uses Ashrei for the Beatitudes. Also in Jewish Prayer The Ashrei is prayer that is most of Ps145 with a few verses added as an introduction. When I heard this a few years ago I thought it was really interesting. The Jewish prayer for Food Blesses God not the food and uses Baruch, for we are giving honor and bowing our hearts in thankfulness to God who created it all. Again another Hebraic difference in prayer Blessed vs Happy
