It has to be Kaldin as the one human because we have super depressed Kaldin literally surrounded by felt creatures that are all wacky and joyful and he's just like EXISTENTIAL DREAD. Kermit can be Dalinar, we go back to old Kermit who is completely at the end of his rope with the other characters. Gonzo is either Adolin or Hoid.

Dutch person here, the saying used here is "Hier zit een luchtje aan" which is more directly a saying to indicate something is suspicious, similar enough to something smelling fishy. There was probably no smell here, the person was stopped because he was driving erratically and as you guessed had no receipt. The interesting part here which does tie into a real heist is that this person is not under suspicious for stealing the fish, but fencing it.

Okay, the best thing for me is that Dan has the direct translation of the Dutch phrase 'hier hangt een luchtje aan', which is an idiom saying 'this seems like bad business/this seems fishy', and he translates it with the 'fishy' pun which actually fits BEST as the translation of this idiom!!! I would like to ask, as a first timer. I study writing techniques, and read structure etc for years. My issue is, do you ever feel pressured by the “readers” and by that I mean the culture of book readers. They have become elitist...no ly aka adjectives or no tell don't show etc. When you're making a complex plot and word count matters, it's sometime easier to say not showcase. LOL. I have trouble with that. Keep up the good work.

The worst travel experience I've ever had was at Chicago O'Hare airport. First, it was a connecting flight. I was with my wife and her mother, returning from the wedding of a family member that we simply weren't able to get a nonstop flight home from. And to be fair, the first thing that went wrong can't really be put on the heads of the folks at Chicago: our first flight was late. Not excessively so, maybe half an hour, but we only had half an hour to connect with the second flight in Chicago. They promised us, they swore up and down, that they'd radio ahead and make sure that they held the plane a few extra minutes so we could make the connection. But when we got to the terminal in Chicago, the door had just barely closed. _The plane was right there,_ sitting just outside the window, not pulling away yet. But they absolutely refused to call it back to take on the three of us (and about a dozen other passengers also connecting from that same flight,) and claimed that they had never heard anything about a delayed connecting flight. Instead they sent us to the American Airlines customer service desk, where they told us that they didn't have another flight back to Salt Lake City for something like 20 hours. At this point I was like, "well screw that." Since SLC is a big Delta hub, I asked them if there was any way to transfer our connection to Delta. IT was late at night at this point, but they managed to find a new flight fairly early in the morning that would get us home, and they got us a voucher for a local hotel. The next morning, we went over to the terminal, got on the plane, and were right about to take off, when they informed us that they'd detected a mechanical problem with the plane and we all had to get off again, but they should have it fixed up within an hour. That hour came and went, and they told us it would be a few more hours. I asked them why they didn't use a replacement plane, and they said they didn't have any spares. I asked them why they weren't flying one in from another city, or borrowing a spare from another airline, and they said that's just not how we do things. Eventually they were completely unable to fix the problem and they did in fact fly one in from another city. We had breakfast and lunch stranded at O'Hare, and it ended up taking about the same 20 hours to get on board the plane as _not_ switching to Delta to save time would have taken. All because apparently everyone at O'Hare has a ton of idiotic policies and not a lick of common sense between them.

I looked into the food heist story. The article I found has a picture of the haul, and it's a trunk filled to the brim with individually wrapped pieces of frozen salmon. Nothing is on ice, it as all just dumped in the trunk. Not very food safe. According to the article the driver refused to say where he got it all from, which is why it got seized and the investigation got started. So far the fish has been traced back to at least four Lidl (pronounced "little") stores who have confirmed at was stolen. The police is currently investigating security footage from those stores to determine if the man stole the fish himself or if he was just transporting it. And yes, I did look into this just so I could correct your pronunciation of Lidl in a constructive way :-)
