Penacony Is NOT What It Seems In Honkai Star Rail 2.1

I want to talk about Sunday because many people including Bran seem to underestimate how difficult his current situation is. He's the leader of the Oak family and has a lot of pressure about the upcoming Charmony festival and murders taking place in Penacony. His sister just died and he has no time to grieve and avenge her, the Family doesn't care about the murderer and an IPC ambassador wants to take an advantage of this situation and his sister's death and give Penacony back to IPC. Despite this he's still trying to mantain a perfect image, even though we can see the hints of him struggling to do so (Aventurine saying Sunday doesn't look good and asking him if he's anxious, Sunday taking his anger out on Gallagher). Sunday doesn't know Aventurine's backstory and has no reason to sympathize with him but he's definitely not a cartoon villain as some paint him to be. I think he has been a very interesting character so far and I'm intrigued by his involvement in the story.

He’s definitely a complex character, but I don’t think he’s a good person either. IMO he’s the person who’s been corrupting harmony and from how sus he’s being he might? be the final boss. We’ll have to wait and see in the next patch

@@CrystCrunch I don't think he's a very good person as well (I loved Aventurine's comment on the Penacony model in the Dewlight Pavilion showcasing how much Sunday likes to be in control over others) but his behavior towards Aventurine in this patch is totally undestandable. It's great to have complex characters and I can't wait to see how the story wraps up in the next patch.

@@CrystCrunch The final scene with Gallagher when Sunday's shadow turned into SUD made me think that he's the reason why death became possible within the Dreamscape, probably unknowingly so. The loading screen info says that SUD is believed to be a manifestation of people's fear of death and murder and I wonder if this is actually relevant to the story.

@@CrystCrunch Nothing indicate he's the one corrupting the Harmony, and he's easily among the least sus among the "Suspect" cast because he clearly just wants to avenge his sister. If anything, the way the rest of the Family has closed their eyes to "death" makes them more likely to be the reason the "Harmony" of the dreamscape is falling.

When Adventurine and Sparkle talked about a mute they said 'he' in quotations, when Adventurine and Acheron talked about the same mute they used 'she', pretty sure they were talking about Sam, especially since the line 'our Stellaron friends identity' was a mistranslation and was supposed to say 'Stellaron Hunter friend'. That whole conversation about a mute who survived was about Firefly. They don't know if Robin made it back from the other side yet.

Also I really hope they don't do this again with the whole "Bring this particular kind of unit or get fucked." No one style of unit should be required for clearing a story boss. MoC or PF, sure. I'm pretty sure we can just assume Firefly acted all friendly with us in 2.0 because as she said before, her script was to get the Astral Express to chase down the watchmakers legacy, so getting the Trailblazer to trust and like her so that when she 'dies' TB will want to take it seriously and have motivation to find out what happened. But there's also the point that in Kafkas companion quest she implies TB was friends with the Stellaron Hunters before their memory got wiped so Firefly already knows TB somewhat. Another interesting thing about Firefly/Sam to me, is in lore of the Glamoth ornament set, its says that the Iron Cavalry (the species that Firefly is) are genetically engineered warriors made to wear silver mechs and that no one knows the faces behind them. I think that line plus what Firefly says about being stuck in a 'medical cabin' in real life unable to use her own body implies that she cant take the armour off, like at all, I wonder if the other Stellaron Hunters even know who Firefly is tbh. Penacony enabling her to walk around in her own body is probably insanely emotional for her and sad af to think about. I just think shes a very interesting character and 2.2 is gonna kill me with her lore lol.

Her "unforgettable gains" that Elio promised her might even be the ability to be in her own body freely, could also give a reasonable explanation behind why she could be playable (that is if it isn't just Sam that's playable, also not taking Leaks into account because of how Bran personally feels about them and how they've changed over the course of Penacony) On the other hand, our gains might be an ally, new Express member, or even some of our old memories or something

You gotta remember, all of the Stellaron Hunters know the Trailblazer because we were with them before Kafka and Silverwolf implanted the Stellaron inside of us. Firefly is most likely being very genuine with us emotionally through the whole story. She was incredibly happy when we trusted her and she opened up to us very quickly about part of her past and said she would tell us everything eventually but couldn’t at the time

Aventurine most likely hasn't died as all that last talk with Acheron was to help him not want to die (plus Ratio's message). The cornerstones are not connected to their lives so now Aventurine just has to leave that "void" I think. He just died in a dream and people speculate that irl he could be in a state of coma or smth like that :>

From my understanding: -Aventurine has bypassed the “barrier” set up by the Family into the “true” Dreamscape, where the Watchmaker’s Legacy resides, which was blocked off to hide death and the truth. -Unlike the Family’s Dreamscape, the true Dreamscape is not protected from death, meaning if you die here, it’s for real. That’s Aventurine’s gamble, to make it back alive like Sam and Firefly. -The Cornerstone stopped glowing because of Acheron. Since her sword is “sharp”, as she puts it, enough to slice the brand of the Harmony off of Aventurine, it also should be able to sever his ties to the Path of Preservation. Since Stonehearts “chisel their wills into their Cornerstones” according to Ratio, his disconnection from Preservation caused his Cornerstone’s light to die out.

I play the quest pre-nerf, there's no "minnion of Enigmata" in the text. I believe it added later after nerf since players complaining that JP, CN, and KR mention Gallagher as the minnion of Enigmata but not EN, that explain the silent part on the dialogue

1:48:40 my interpretation on the casualty count, and as well as how the massacre happened anyway is that the IPC let the massacre happen. The fact that the only survivor was made into a slave was so fucked up on its own. It's like they let the katicans purge the avgin, and then they swooped in to defeat the katicans. That way they can just claim sigonia with no one to resist. If by the end of this game we don't get to somehow destroy the IPC or deal with them somehow, I'm probably going to lose my mind.

I'll give you my team, if it helps. I was using Argenti, March, Bailu and Natasha. Argenti as my main DPS, March for shields, double healer because I heard the boss fight was difficult and I wanted to be prepared - it worked. If 1 healer dies however, the whole team will follow. I lost once, and it was as soon as Nat died. I retried, making sure to not be so careless with how I manage my teams health, fixing my rotations, and also figuring out how Argenti works again (I forgot about the 90/180 energy difference thing).

It's actually interesting that Larose is an NPC that was there in 2.0 and had a mini-quest about the "Song of Beauty" when you came to fix her emotional clockwork. Something that was basically hinted at within 2.1 when it comes down to it is this: Death is not permanent in Penacony. When you run that risk of dying your meant to be rescued by the Family, but in situations like what's currently happening instead while you appear dead in the Dreamscape, your body is put into a coma in the real world. That was something mentioned during the story. The Family built a wall around the Memory Zone using the Harmony, and that wall is meant to keep stuff like the Meme from entering Penacony. (They did say this in the story) However it has, thanks to Gallagher who is, was, one of the high ranking members of the Family who had betrayed the Family. Robin, and Sunday's sibling. Therefore what if, when you die in Penacony you end up going beyond that wall, you get to where the Watchmakers Legacy truly is, outside of the wall of Harmony. So in order to get there, you need to die. If you can come back, you will be revived, and therefore no longer in a comatose state. However Acheron had said when talking to Aventurine, that it is nearly impossible to do this, to come back. Which is why it's such a gamble what he is doing. My guess is that we will end up going beyond the wall in the next patch. We will discover what's happening on the otherside, which will then tie in nearly everything together. Aside from my speculations on whats going on for the story I will mention this. Gallagher basically hinted from the start when we first met him, that he was the person behind the Meme, behind Death. "Ha, and I am 13." He said something along those lines when we were first talking to him. 13 is the tarot card of Death. 13 is commonly known to be related towards death as well in some other things too.

Fought (pre-nerf) Aventurine with Jing Yuan and it was the worse idea I had (10 Lightning Lord stacks onto his dice 😭) A nice detail about the Firefly reveal is that she couldn't face the Trailblazer directly until she revealed herself. She really did try to tell us and felt ashamed about hiding it And I knew Gallagher was sus.

Penacony so far is also my fav hoyo main story chapter so far.... I felt amazed when I did it, but didn't feel like redoing the quest in my alt or watch anyone play through it, even this video I skipped to the end. It did however for the first time made me read HSR in-game texts and books, focus on motifs and such like I do in Genshin. But thinking back on it now, I only did it for a day while I kept trying to figure out Fontaine and Sumeru lore for weeks almost for few patches too. Perhaps the reason is that Genshin story is all connected back to one or two incidents, while HSR story so far only remains in it's own confinements and regions with just little bit of story tieing them to Aoens. But you dont yet know where all of this is supposed to converge.

When I played it I understood it like all people who "died" or disappeared wanted to go to the "real dreamscape" or "beyond" that (maybe the watchmaker is there too) and Aventurine is now also trying to go there/succeeded, we don't know, but that was his plan all along and he is now on his way there. So there's still a chance that all people (Robin included) live (cause in the dreamscape there is no death), also explains why Firefly survived. When they get stabbed they go there too but going back is another thing. (many "victims" also tried to swim in the ocean at the dreamscape, so maybe there's a path cause they never emerged)

I actually didn't know that Aventurine boss was nerfed. I already defeated him before he got nerfed. I wish they didn't nerf him but it's understandable cause not all players have good built characters yet 😅. I had to repeat it once tbh cause I thought Preservation TB was enough for sustain. That prenerf Aventurine was so tanky back then 😅
