This song brings back a memory that I’d figured I had forgotten. A strange thing to say but it’s true. When I was 15 years old, I met a girl at a hometown baseball game and shortly after we fell madly in love. You know that kind of absolute obsessive love of the teenage years, a fire burning brighter than the sun. One day I took her for a walk near my parents house, a spot I had spent countless hours my entire life, a place I’d go to just exist and reflect. On the banks of the Jackson River in western Virginia, tucked in a big curve of the river. If I’m honest, I’m 29 turning 30 this year and I haven’t known a love like that since then.
