Honestly what you talked about "learning how to eat" was really interesting to me, as someone who was raised with fairly strict eating habits (soda, any kind of chips, candy, chocolate, etc were always something for special ocassions and not something we bought on the regular). In my primary school we had classes about healthy foods, what foods are more important than which and all that, but I will say I only really started understanding why certain foods should be eaten more than others since my dad, sister and I started seeing a nutricionist and she told us a lot of things that were really eye opening, even though we mostly just ate "real food", lol. So we're always learning! No need to be embarrassed, I think a lot of dieting culture ad consumerism has really wrapped our vision of what "eating healthy" looks like. Anyways sorry if some of the grammar is wrong, english is my second language and I'm running on five hours of sleep.

I barely remember being taught about foods in school, but that’s awesome you had that! Your comment made me feel a bit better, knowing that I’m not the only one learning what’s proper to eat 😊 Thank you for watching!! X Hope you’re having a great weekend

Omg meeeee on the small business topic. Agree, lots of people complain and may just not be cut out for it. And no shade, it's just like how some of us aren't cut out to climb career ladders. But I feel that, not having many business owner friends. Thanks for posting this vlog! It was fun to hang with you parasocially 😂

Hi Bre!! I wanted to share that I found your channel last week and as a neurodivergent fem poc + aspiring artist that has been thinking about starting their own zine, watching your vids has created a lot of representation for me and given me a lot of inspo/guidance. I feel like a lot of the things you’ve shared rly resonate with me and I’ve noticed a lot of synchronicities regarding my own journey, which feel like signs from the universe confirming that this is what i should do. Thank you for creating + sharing such cool content. Looking forward to being part of this lil corner of the internet

I live for your editing. The fart noises really add to the whole experience of a brattyxbre vid 🤣My bf and I are each others' hair stylists and we just did haircuts tonight. We also tend to bleach on one day and dye on another, just before whenever we end up showering. Having the freedom to do it that way saves so much time (and money). I'm heavily considering checking out some places to print my zines for me cause my printer just gets worse and worse LOL. I'm sad I haven't been able to create in a little while. Just existing is too hard sometimes

Just existing IS hard sometimes, I feel you Charlieee 😭 There is this meme I love that goes “god I just want to create but all my energy is being used to survive” and if that ain’t the TRUEST statement I’ve ever seen in my life You and your bf are very lucky you can do each others hair. I always attempt to do it myself and mess it up, or burn it, or it falls out hahaha you would THINK I’d be better at doing it since I’ve had colors in my hair for over a decade now but nope (I end up spending too much monies on going to a professional 🥲 however, my stylist is the best!!) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment I always love hearing from you! Hope you had a relaxing weekend. Let’s start this week off right 😎🫵🏽

I just did my first zine fest this last weekend and it was a success, at least what I would consider a success for being my first time with five zines. I got a lot of positive comments and interactions. I used an Epson Eco Tank 4800 printer. The quality was okay with my “I Love Ketchup” zine, tolerable with my “Gas Station Bathroom” (it was crazy) and “Anthony Bourdain Quotes”, but it had lines But it was horrid with my “Rainy Saturday Creative” one. I figured out the issue. It wasn’t a nozzle clog thankfully. It wouldn’t let me change to matte print, but it worked on glossy print and I used 28lb paper. So my “I Can’t Draw Animals” zine looked good. I didn’t have the time or money to redo the other ones. So I do want to try printing services, but now that zine fest is over I should retry my printer. I applied for Chicago Zine Fest. I will find out some time next month if I make it in.
@brattyxbre5 ай бұрын
CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST ZINE FEST!!! Yes I’ve been there with printer errors, when you print on “best quality” instead of standard on the eco tank it usually prints better. But I’m glad you figured it out anyway! It’s all trial and error with zines, which can be frustrating as hell. Mixam is great and cheap so definitely check them out whenever you print in bulk. The more copies you need, the cheaper the price will be! 💞 Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. It’s great to hear you experienced a successful zine fest and I hope you get to go to more this year 🫵🏽

Would love to know more about how you price your zines. I’m finding it very hard to do after just giving them away for free for years 😅
@brattyxbre5 ай бұрын
Noted! I will try to make a video on that this month. In the meantime, I always price them by doubling how much it cost me to print then adding on based on how much time and energy it took to create, which is usually a couple dollars more. Depends. I give certain zines away for free still! Which helps the zine community. Especially when you trade etc. so don’t feel bad ☺️ you will learn a balance over time!

YAY! oats! ^-^ hilariously ate breakfast along with you while watching this, hehe. I love oats!!! I love putting chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, dates!! (so yummy) a dollop of peanut butter, oat milk & brown sugar, orrr soya creamer (cause it makes it more cereal-like & helps remove the thick oat texture blargh! heh) &&& sometimes unsweetened greek yogurt >:o) -- felt called to share this! cause it's one of my safe foods and keeps my tummy happy! yay oats! haha

Really related to the small business grindset thing. It's really hard juggling my normal 9-5 with small business stuff as well as personal artistic pursuits that feed me creatively. And that's on top of just like, living. I am also autistic and have been reallyyyyyyyy struggling to feed myself recently from like a no energy to cook standpoint as well as food being a sensory nightmare. I just hate that we're forced to overdo it and stretch ourselves thin just to survive capitalism. It's not supposed to be like this, and while I'm so grateful for what I have because I am in a much more stable position than so many, I also think that we all deserve better than what we're getting. I also have a physical disability that comes with chronic pain and fatigue and in order to survive I do have to make choices on how to allocate my limited energy. A lot of it has to go to my job, and often I end up not being as social as I'd like to be, because if I don't make my art I'll go crazy and a the rest of my energy goes to that. It feels weird to complain, especially as an artist where it can come off as this weird kind of self inflated woe-is-me I'm Just So Creative energy to people who aren't in it and don't understand the struggle. So I feel weird talking about it, which then creates the feedback loop of self-isolation which leads to MORE art and LESS social time and around and around it goes lol
@brattyxbre5 ай бұрын
Capitalism has ruined so much natural joy, fun times, and even enjoying the simple things in life. I’m so sorry to hear with what you struggle with, I can relate! And other stuff you mentioned, such as living with chronic pain + fatigue just made me feel for you so much because you deserve down time to heal and self-care. It’s SO unfair that everything is a grind now just to survive… The small biz grind is not for the faint of heart 😂 It’s definitely a marathon, not a sprint. I hope you find ways to help balance that with your job and creative time. I’m still trying to find a good balance myself, most days are hard though and it’s so unrealistic to pretend that it’s not. Thank you for all your sentiments because it’s true..it’s not supposed to be like this!! Wishing you all the best. It’s soooo hard to be a human theses days but keep going (as cliche as that sounds, I know lol) 🖤🖤🖤 sending you a BIG GIANT virtual hug x
