I want to preface this video by stating I don’t hate all of Thursday. Their clothing is GREAT! The Loggers weren’t too bad (as mentioned in the video), and the Builder boot I actually like a lot. It’s just for some reason the majority of their stacked heel boots suck…

The only Thursday I’ve REALLY liked are the Diplomat (Black label is Builder). The other Thursdays I’ve liked are: Desperado (cowboy boot), and “logger” boot. I’ve not tried their most popular Captain boot yet.

Yeah I bought the same Brawler in waxed flesh. I knew after the first couple minutes of wearing them something was wrong with the fit and design. I had the issue of sliding forward. To the point my toes were hitting the end of the boot. I've never had that feeling in a boot.

Yeah, Thursday just doesn’t know how to build a boot with a stacked heel. They need to just do what Red Wing did with their Iron Ranger, and just add a leather midsole. I think that would change the game for them. Or just stick to Moc toe boots. Their moc toes are another level of price to performance. Edit: Like their captain boot. That’s their most popular boot, and I’ve only ever seen noobie complaints on them. Because they don’t know how to take care of a real leather product.

Oddly enough, your boot may have been a half size too small. I had this issue with a size 10 (their recommended size for me), exchanged for a 10.5 (my Brannock size), suddenly the boot felt great. Stiff, because it hasn't been broken in yet, but great all the same. I have low arches so the lack of massive arch support isn't a problem for me anyways. I suspect the sliding will become even LESS of an issue as my footprint goes working it's way into the insole. Their size guide is not accurate for this model, most people are saying it fits best when going true to Brannock.

The silence between words says it all. Way to take one for the team. I was heavily considering them because I love that waxed flesh. I did get the Jim green 719s recently so I was able to give some love to Carl. I’m having the same issue with my challenger I decided I’m gonna take them to the cobbler and see if he can take one or two slivers of leather out of the heel stack. Worth a try what do I have to loose. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I hate to say this.. However, he definitely chose the wrong company to go with for this boot. I would’ve happily paid more if it was with Truman, or even Drew’s for that matter. I was gonna grab the Jim Green’s, but I already had spent money on the Builders. Which are my Favorite boot by Thursday, by the way. Will definitely give thorogood, and Red wing a run for their money on moc-toe wedges. And possibly even White’s (since it’s the same price range).

@ yeah man I have the whites Perry select and the thorogood 6 inch Mocs. They’re both amazing. I want some 8 inch redwing Mocs one day. Must exercise self control. Lol

@@jackhood4448 What's crazy to me is how Thursday was able to make a moc with premium leather AND a leather midsole. Now I know they're made in Mexico, which is the main reason, but still.. I have to give them credit where it's due. I've been looking at getting the 8-inch mocs from white's... However, same! I need to calm down lol.

Is this something that would fix itself after the leather begins to break in? I'm new to boots so im not sure. I just ordered the Carl Murawski's collab with Jim Green. Im hoping those end up better than these guys.

No, it wouldn’t. It lacks too much arch support to begin with. If you look at the cut in half photo in Thursday’s site, it’s almost egg shaped on the inside. In reference to the Jim Greens, they do a much better job with their boots. You should be good.

i had the opposite experience with these. i got the brawler in wicket and craig brown. i also like the viberg 310 with the sprung toe. Thursday has their own factory in Mexico that they built. the all leather construction gives me solid comfort under foot compared to say my iron rangers which feel like i need to add an insole. maybe check out Nicks, they were selling insoles some of which are designed for arch support. i prefer usa made boots on average but i made an exception because of the awesome price and sweet materials. i probably wouldn't use these for working overall they seem a better fit for a night on the town, very pleased with the interesting style and luxurious comfort typically found on my pricier boots

I’m glad you had the opposite experience! Means that they weren’t totally a useless collab. An insole doesn’t help me with these boots. If you look closely at the cut in half photo on their site, they almost look egg shaped. I legitimately felt nothing under my midfoot (not even that flat portion).

Any chance it has some to do with your foot? I’ve read so many reviews, especially of the Challenger that you also didn’t like, and I see almost no one saying what you’re saying. I’m kinda the same way with Jim Green, everyone loves them and I have two different ones but on my feet they just don’t work great. I don’t feel a void in my Thursday Captain boots. I ordered the Thunder boots, should arrive tomorrow, I’ll have to see. Maybe some feet just aren’t made for the way certain companies make their boots. :) Thx for the vid!

It’s possible.. But even my flat boots I could feel something underneath my foot. With the brawlers I feel nothing under the middle portion of my foot (even the flat part of the middle foot). If you take a close look at the Thursday’s cut in half photo, it’s almost egg shaped. I’ve not tried Jim Green, so I can’t say anything about their boots. But I personally think that Thursday’s lasts are not meant to be used for higher stacked heels. They seem to accommodate more of the flat heel type boots; like their Captain, Chelsea, Diplomat, and President boots.

I think those resemble the thunder but the thunder have the vibram outsole and not that too high a heel like the challenger

I appreciate the kind words brother! I know of a couple people who returned theirs already. I just truly think the only issue with Thursday boots is that they don’t build the mid-foot up as much as needed, and the lasts are wrong for the job. The only boots I’ve not had an issue with are their builder boot, and the “logger” boot by them. I know that doesn’t mean they won’t work for other people. Or maybe I’m just hyper sensitive with having been injured. But I do truly like what Thursday is trying to accomplish (or has since a lot of people flock to them).

It's a Thursday problem, they just don't seem to understand the lasts they are using, Drew's also made in Leon, Mexico are made in a different factory now that Thursday have their own factory, I hope they fix their huge problem because no one likes the heel/arch situation.

To be fair, they’re causal boots, BUT I just don’t like the toe on these and how high sprung it is. Interesting to hear about the lack of arch support, I hate that. I can’t stand boots without arch support, without it (for me), it does exactly what you say…places too much pressure on my toes/heels and equal pain.

@@doublebase6509 Well, I do understand the casualness of the boots. All of Thursday boots are meant for casual use, in my opinion. Except for the Builder and the non-black label diplomat. Those I’d actually work in (and have). But yeah, the design is weird. I don’t have the void issue with my Jordan’s, blazers, dunks, my iron rangers, any of that.. If you look at the cut in half photo on their site, the heel slides down a bit, then at the “arch” of slopes down even more and springs up aggressively at the toe. It’s like a half egg shape inside of the boot.

@ ok yeah, I didn’t realize these are even worse than a typical casual boot like an Iron Ranger…that doesn’t have much arch support in its own right. Interesting. Thanks for the review. You’re doing a good job with your channel.

@@doublebase6509 Now granted, the heel is stacked, unlike the iron rangers. But even my Truman’s don’t have that void issue.. So it’s gotta be an issue with either that last, or they’re not properly building the midfoot up. OR a combination of both. Thank you for the kind words though man! I appreciate it!

Yeah, I already have the challenger. My problem with them is that they’re shaped like a slide. So wall of my weight wants to shift to my forefoot (the ball of my feet). So an insert would not help in those. The loggers aren’t actual loggers, I know. But they are still better than the challengers (in my opinion). But yes, the brawler was meant to look like a Viberg boot (forgot specific model), he just went with the wrong company for it. Like you questioned, it is a bit odd that he collaborated with a non-PNW company to do these boots… However, the Drew’s I think they’re probably the roomiest boots I’ve bought. And I went a full size down, without upping the width (they’re 9D like my Drifters from White’s). I know they use a modified 55 last for their boots. I think where Thursday screws up in all of their stacked heel boots, is that they don’t build up the mid foot like in other brands (except for Truman and the Iron Rangers). However, again with those boots I don’t feel the void under my mid-foot, like I do in the Brawlers.
