I can say firsthand, I haven't watched the video but I own these boots. I've worn them pretty much everyday for 3 years. They're on their second heel. I wore through the original heel pad until it was flapping off. Additionally, the leather in the heel counter area inside I have worn through. I use them to work on trucks, ride motorcycles, chop firewood, off roading etc along with everyday use. I condition them before every winter as we get snow here. Awesome boot, and I'll continue to wear mine until the upper fails. If you're interested, I could send some pictures of them if you'd like to see what hard wear has done to them over that time.

I got the logger based off this video and after about a year of use I gotta say this boot has been superb. As shown in the video, it handles wear and tear very nicely and the scratches do add some nice character to color of the leather. They took about a week of pretty heavy walking to break-in but are now very comfortable and fit well. Speaking of fit I would recommend a half size down from what you typically wear in sneakers. The only minor gripe I have is that I had an aglet on the laces break within about 2 weeks of purchase but thats small caveat in an otherwise great boot.

Could you try puncturing the same hide of leather from both sides? I suspect having to push through the intertwined fibres of the flesh out side makes it tougher to get to/break through through the grain side, while on the other the hand if you slice through the grain side, that fibre structure falls apart, possibly explaining why rough out would have a greater puncture resistance

I've owned these loggers for over a year and I like them a lot. My only complaints are with the identity confused design - like the fact that they have the dress style heel top lift, it is an 8 inch boot with no speed hooks, and as you can see at 8:27 they have no tongue gusset at all, so even though they have good waterproof materials and construction, if any water splashes on the laces it goes right into the boot. At least the heel and hooks can be fixed by a cobbler, not sure about the gusset though. Overall they are great materials and build quality, but I would change those few things if I had my way. The Whites Sawyer probably would have been better for what I wanted, for ~$100 more.

I have both versions of the Thursdays Captain - the regular (made in Mexico) and the vanguard (made in USA) and I can fully agree. The few extra bucks for the vanguards is well spent money. The leather of the regular version is by no means a bad leather, but it's a bit thinner and tanned in another way. Also the soles on the cheaper ones had to be repaired three times already, since they use softer rubber that wears off faster and tends to detach from the tip of the toes over time. The made in Mexico boots are still in very good condition and will last me a few more years, but if you compare the money spent on those repairs then you'd be better off on just buying the vanguards. Both great boots for the price tho.

The outsole is like 1/2” of vibram so it’s super padded when walking around the forefoot. I love any and all boots with a toe cap and out of all my Thursday boots these are my favorite for the simple reason of the leather, the Cuban heel stack, and the thick outsole. TBC definitely gives you the best materials your money can buy without it costing an arm and a leg. They are sexy, comfy, and nice Cuban heel. I was trying to compare the 1k mile boots vs the Loggers and I picked the Loggers because of the look, the leather, the heel stack and the fact it does have a shank whereas the 1k miles don’t have a shank. The 1k miles are well over $100 more and the quality is NOT there. I like the 1k mile boots too but they don’t have any with a toe cap in stock with a heel like the Logger. I have found that plain toed boots don’t break in as well and doesn’t look as good as cap toe boots worn in. I think the cap toe hides a lot of the creases compared to the plain toed boots. Just mo.

I thought I was crazy for experiencing these same thing. I wonder if I'll ever truly break them in. Is there a drastic difference between half sizes? Mine fit great save for the heel slippage. I wonder if I get half a size smaller the issue good away but I don't want my tires squished. What do you think?

You already cut the Redwing Iron Rangers in the past, but I’d be truly interested to see how they rank in these series. Maybe cut a different Redwing model?

the permanent insole seems like a bad idea. it is possible to cut it out and replace it down the line?

Corcoran jump boots. Either black 1500 or Brown 1511. The 975 black boots are somewhat different and less expensive

Love my Thursday sneakers. The company definitely seems quality. But my Whites are my go to boots. Wouldn’t mind a nicer dress up style from Thursday

After wearing them for 2 days the Logger is super comfortable and it doesn’t crease as bad as the Mexican made boot like the captains. I bought some Nick’s leather laces and it matches perfectly. I can’t wait until I can get the nap to show through. It’s definitely the best Thursday boots ever made. Definitely better than the 1000 mile boots or with any other boot under $400.

I hit my vanguards with Saphir renoveteur when i got them and they are amazing boots. Very comfortable

Really like the upper leather. Nice look and very very durable. Based on past purchases, Thursdays product quality varies. Some meh, some really good. Shop discriminately. Be prepared to return some items if unsuitable.

Are you saying different models, quality control between any two pairs, something else?

Love the no crap disappointments you let out in this one, like the split pig skin luchesse boots. Lol. Excited for this series dude. Keep em coming.

If you can get your hands on Visvim Wabanaki folk suede boot, that would be very cool to see if they are as high end as they say it is!

Would love to see comparisons and build quality of mountaineering style boots (I use for hunting). For example Scarpa, Zamberland, Crispi, Asolo, Kenetrek, etc.

I agree with most of what you said on the comparison of the 1000 mile, however as for myself I enjoy the plain leather sole of the 1000 mile. Not that many places have that.

Another great video. I do like the look of Thursday boots, but every one of the lasts I've tried is too narrow across my toes, and too wide in the heel. Still, good to know the build quality.

I like it when you mention the fit and feel, be cool if you could mention those in the next ones. Even if its just like a half hours wear to get a feel for the toe box and flex etc.

Another good video. Is it just the lighting and reflections? It looks like the sock liner/insole is wavy and lumpy. That does not look comfortable so I imagine it’s just a visual thing

You've already covered the Red Wing Iron Rangers, but I'd love to see where you'd place them on this list. They are an under $400 boot made in the USA after all. A lot of people consider them the best out there, so I'd like to see where they really stack up in your opinion when compared to other boots in the same category!

I like Thursday. I have another pair of their USA made boots. But I don’t like the combo of the rubber sole, and the narrow, low profile vamp. It’s a weird mixture of dress upper and rugged sole. Pointy low toes are for dress shoes. Round, higher toes are meant for work boots.

Sir, can you do a series or episode with lineman boots?

I wish they had some speed hooks on their made in the US boots like the captains have. They are some good looking boots and I would feel comfortable doing an impulse buy if for that one detail.

Hey there, nice video! I'm a big fan. Thursday loggers are really nice, sleek, tough-looking boots. You did spot the fake toe cap, which is not a deal-breaker but speaks of the actual level of toughness and real intended use as a fashion boot. One thing you didn't mention is the total lack of any sort of gusseting... Again, not a deal-breaker for a fashion boot, but it's a bit of a shame (especially for boots made of such hardy leather) because they will not be as weather resistant as they could be.
@patrickcraner22132 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the visual representation of the ranking. My favorite part of your older series videos was the recap video at the end to officially close the series and group all the good and bad in one spot for easy choice making in a boot purchase. (Maybe the group in depth recap could be on Rose Anvil 2 channel) It was because of all your videos that I made the best footwear choice of my life so far, in purchasing a pair of nicks builder pro about 5 months ago. Keep up the content, really enjoy these boot series.

I'd like to see the president boots with the danite style outsole. They're made in Mexico like the storm king captains but would be nice to see the comparison of the several Thursdays you've done now.

Wolverine clicks the thinner cheaper parts of the hide. Which is why their leather wrinkles so bad when compared to other chromexcel leather, such as Viberg. I'd love to see Oak Street Boots cut! They also use chromexcel.
