The 3G network in Australia was recently shutdown. Unfortunately, at the same time the Australian government has regionally blocked the IMEI numbers of numerous 4G and 5G devices. This has resulted in brand new phones sold by retailers even in Australia, no longer work. Have you been able to test your BraX3 in recent weeks in Australia?

Sadly Rob is forced to use some binary blobs that even he can't look at unless someone writes open source drivers. It's still one of the better options unless you compile your own ROM.

Looks very promising. However, I would need more information about the display, i.e. what technology is used and what brightness it has. I can't stand OLED screens because of their PWM flickering and excessive contrast. This is a point that all the big technology companies are completely ignoring at the moment, the fact that some of the new screen technologies are completely intolerable for some people. There are simply no alternatives on offer. Even Macbooks are intolerable for some people because Apple has even managed to build flickering technologies into IPS and mini-LED displays.

It pains me to see that the brax2 doesnt seem to be a long term support device so making an effort to get something like postmarketOS running on at least future models like the brax3 would be wonderful. Though iodéOS is an improvement over stock Android by removing or replacing Google services, it is still based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This means it retains the underlying Android framework, which is susceptible to various forms of data collection, even if Google’s direct services are removed. AOSP-based systems can still harbor vulnerabilities or contain code that may be exploited for tracking, especially when it comes to app compatibility and background services. Additionally, like all cell phones it's connected to a global network that is subject to surveillance. Mobile carriers, network access, and third-party entities with access to these networks can still track users, regardless of the phone's hardware or operating system. I have to believe you know this. Furthermore, while iodéOS offers features like ad-blocking and tracker removal, these are far from sufficient in ensuring complete privacy. The phone can still be vulnerable to more sophisticated tracking methods, such as network-level surveillance or background data collection via apps that may not be entirely free from tracking code, despite iodéOS's efforts. If you have a cell phone in your pocket, you have no privacy. Period.
@robbraxmantech13 күн бұрын
You are far off here. What do you suggest, have people use an iPhone? An Open Source operating system is secure from having data collected by Big tech
@armylrs239112 күн бұрын
@robbraxmantech Nothing I said is off-base or exaggerated. The truth is, claiming privacy on any cell phone is a fallacy, plain and simple. I probably know more about intelligence gathering than you do-the rabbit hole goes much deeper than you’ve even scratched. That said, I do appreciate your effort-it’s still a better option than a standard off-the-shelf phone.
@armylrs23919 күн бұрын
@@robbraxmantech If you seek to understand the true depth of modern surveillance, allow me to offer a mere glimpse into the capabilities at hand. Smart light bulbs, for instance, are not just for illumination-they can track your movements and behaviors by analyzing minute variances in the light’s emitted signal. Similarly, infrared sensors embedded in TV remotes are capable of detecting motion within a room, enabling spatial tracking of your activities in real time, all without the need for a camera. Wi-Fi networks themselves are a potent surveillance tool, capable of triangulating your position and even capturing fragments of your conversations, merely by interpreting the way signals interact with environmental obstacles. And as for your robotic vacuum? Its Lidar system, when exploited, can pick up on the subtle vibrations induced by sound waves, effectively allowing it to eavesdrop on your conversations- no microphone needed. This isn't even scratching the surface of the real interesting stuff....
