Strange. In US politics one frontrunner can slate the other opposition blind on TV, yet a vendor/ provider can’t post a dialogue on the philosophical issues/ cons/ weaknesses of a competitor without being “demonetised”. It’s a competitive world we’re living in and big companies- like big presidents and frontrunners- should be able to handle a contrarian perspective. Whatever happened to free market competition and free speech, free enterprise and healthy competition and all that jazz.

Maybe don’t make videos pushing conspiracy theories? If you don’t understand the security and privacy Apple has put into place you probably shouldn’t be making videos making false claims. I have worked as a Security Engineer for over 15 years and worked for Apple, Google, and Meta. Without sharing anything that would void NDAs, remember that Apple makes money from hardware while Google and Meta make it with user data. Apple has no incentive to spy on you, they go out of their way to ensure they can’t use your data in a way that identifies who you are. Google and Meta are financially incentivized to not implement privacy features and their business relies on knowing what you do. An Android phone will always be more of a risk to user privacy than an Apple device while these companies operate under their current financial models.

@@angelikie2010 No outward shrines may be visible, there may be no image for the eye to rest upon, yet we may be practicing idolatry. It is as easy to make an idol of cherished ideas or objects as to fashion gods of wood or stone. Thousands have a false conception of God and His attributes. They are as verily serving a false god as were the servants of Baal. Are we worshiping the true God as He is revealed in His Word, in Christ, in nature, or are we adoring some philosophical idol enshrined in His place? God is a God of truth. Justice and mercy are the attributes of His throne. He is a God of love, of pity and tender compassion. Thus He is represented in His Son, our Saviour. He is a God of patience and long-suffering. If such is the being whom we adore and to whose character we are seeking to assimilate, we are worshiping the true God. If we are following Christ, His merits, imputed to us, come up before the Father as sweet odor. And the graces of our Saviour's character, implanted in our hearts, will shed around us a precious fragrance. The spirit of love, meekness, and forbearing pervading our life will have power to soften and subdue hard hearts and win to Christ bitter opposers of the faith. Amen!

I think its even worse. A.I. is the key factor in all this. IT is the "thing" watching and learning. All the bugs an actual android may have... will be beyond perfected. And that means full human emulation. A.I. and its masters (for now) need more data to bridge the human- machine gap. Ramifications? Well, at the very least, regular humans will be marginalized. Enhanced humans or full synthetics will then rule. What does that look like?

@@gabehernandez6901 As for what the video claimed first. He spent a fair amount of time talking about China but failed to mention that he's selling his own Chinese made phone. TikTok for example wasn't banned in the US because they too moved all the user data here after the CCP was caught trying to use location tracking data in app to unmask journalist sources (and as you know if you followed snowden, our government spies just as much as the CCP does). I think a better question would be why was Apple able to move all the user data over to another data center and Google just gave up on billions of dollars in revenue instead? I think the answer is as simple as Apple is being honest when they say that the data is processed on device and owned by you. So it's easy to move around whereas Google mines that data, uploads it to their servers for processing and has so many services tied to the mining of your data that it was nearly impossible for them to extract themselves enough to give the data to China. The second part of the video was all about the various sensors on the phone. All of which can be shut off (despite him saying otherwise). And several of them like the eye tracking have to be opted into and don't apply to 99% of the users anyways. Finally he talked a lot about AI, but again, unlike Google and OpenAI and others, Apple has build a system with privacy first that tries to process as much stuff as possible on device without ever sending info anywhere. And if it has to forward something it obfuscates the source and asks you first. It's part of why iPhones always get mocked for being a step behind the competition. And it's true. Digital assistants and AI tools are far more sophisticated on any of the competitors. But that comes through sacrificing your privacy. And given the number of times that even the US government has threatened Apple over withholding data from them I'm inclined to at least believe that there's more evidence to suggest that Apple is being more honest here than deceptive. As there doesn't seem to really be any evidence to the contrary other than.. but they could do it if they wanted to.

Also, you can "de-google", you can root kit them and install clean privacy focused versions of Android. You cant do that with an iPhone. Speaking of CSAM, another issue with these scanning features is a total and complete failure of context. With these client-side scanners, if a parent sends photos to their child's medical provider of a rash or infection in a "sensitive region" to get rapid urgent care feedback, for merely "taking" the medical photograph, the parent can be charged criminally with producing and distributing CSAM, despite it not being CSAM. All because of how broadly CSAM laws typically are-they offer little or not room for context. Medical photographs, those old bear rug style photos, and lots of other "photos" that have been seemingly innocuous for decades, suddenly makes every single parent at risk of a CSAM flag because of their "artistic" choices [irrespective of however reasonable they might be], no math bath photos with Timmy because your phone may report you. No more sending photos to the pediatrician when the kid has a rash or infection, or "something doesn't look right, I'm concerned" because the AI LLM, all of whom are NOTORIOUS for hallucinating or outright making shit up, will potentially be the SOLE determiner of WHAT is CSAM. Not a person. Not a judge. Not a reasonable person. An app with known potential for hallucinations and context errors, failures of basic context, and in some ways the worst of all, auto-reporting. For those who don't see an issue with this-just look at Google/KZbin's reporting features and autodetection features. How many times do KZbin content creators get dinged or outright banned without context, without knowing WHAT they did wrong. In most jurisdictions, you are permitted to face your accuser in court, challenge them on their "evidence" or "testimony", ergo, "cross-examine". But how do you "cross-examine" a "witness" whose reasoning is literally "a black box" that whose internal operation may not be even known or knowable. Do you want to trust your life and livelihood (or that of your family) to a magical mystery box that cannot be held accountable in a court of law? Do you want to be "held for terrorism charges" because you "wrote, said, photographed, or were in the vicinity of "persons of interest". Let's say you work in a job where you frequently engage with the general public. Would you want your phone "talking with" other AIs about WHO is around you, and deciding, without an ability to challenge the context or fact, the phone decides that one of the people who regularly "interacts with you, or is around you in any way" who has been labeled "a person of interest" or something more serious, thereby making you potentially complicit of "fraternizing" with a "criminal". Do you want to be at risk of "fraternizing with the enemy" simply for being in a bar or a grocery store? People may say, "But, Chris, that's extremely unlikely! NO way this AI will be used this way!" Unfortunately, historic data demonstrates otherwise. Prosecutors are more interested in protecting their "conviction ratio" in many jurisdictions than they do about "justice" or "innocence". That, they conclude, is the responsibility of the "defense", even if the person wasn't guilty of the crime. Just the past week, a likely innocent man was murdered via execution, capital punishment, in a case that had ZERO material evidence, merely circumstantial evidence. Do you want to run the risk of being just like this person - guilty by association or circumstantial evidence, because the AI in your phone hallucinated or because you were near a crime that took place? Maybe, you were asleep. Maybe you were at work. Maybe, you were someplace else, but you left your phone somewhere and someone else picked it up and decided that this "other person" was "you", and now you are being hauled in on felony rape/murder charges when your phone was stolen-maybe, you just didn't bother reporting it to Apple, because you shut off the device, or maybe didn't have anything particularly important on the device, and merely wanted to "replace it". Maybe you are up for an upgrade and wanted to use it. Do you want to run the risk of your phone's AI misreporting you to authorities because it misinterpreted a photo on your device, or misunderstood the context of something, or just heard you venting about something, and it took your exaggerated, hyperbolic language as literal fact (or as a conspiracy)? Maybe, you were tired of your boss being "such a jerk" that you phrased it in a way the system interpreted as "planning a crime". Do you want your device to have the ability to "report on you" without you even having the ability to meaningfully defend yourself? And even IF you were innocent of the crime, merely being CHARGED can cause you to permanently go into databases that can have detrimental impacts on your life. All of these can and do happen because of fuckups. But, at least, sometimes, this so-called "evidence" can be put on trial itself. But how do you put a mystery black box on trial when even the model builders can't fully explain HOW it is coming up with its reasoning? If a mystery box reports you, can you trust you can effectively be proven innocent with the resources available to you? There have been untold numbers of people convicted or charged with crimes they did not commit who were wrongfully punished, just as the system is. Do you want to run the risk that your device, rather than being a witness YOU control, and that YOU can use in your OWN defense, instead can become your accuser, but without even the bare minimum of capacity to cross-examine this presumed witness? The number of "false/incorrect" reports for crimes is likely to explode as a result of this technology, particularly, in jurisdictions with overzealous DAs whose primary focus is getting the most convictions possible, not on maximizing justice. As MANY DAs will tell you-their job isn't to bring "Justice", but to "get you convicted of a crime". Your "defense" is responsible for proving your innocence.
@drenathor2 ай бұрын
All I'll say on this front is that the way Apple initially considered rolling this out wouldn't have been susceptible to any of the hypothetical scenarios you've listed. Since they wanted to protect their users privacy and avoid false positive the method they originally wanted to roll out was to convert your images to hashes and compare those hashes against a database of known CSAM hashes hand picked by law enforcement. In a sense it's kind of akin to how an anti-virus program downloads virus definitions and then checks your files against them. This would grab a list of hashes that represent hand curated CSAM materials and let the computer privately and anonymously without any privacy violations whatsoever (as it wouldn't know what everything was, only if it matched or not) scan everything to determine if there was a match and only if there was a match would it alert local law enforcement. However this was scrapped as Apple ultimately agreed with the public that while the intentions were good, giving this kind of a tool to the government would only in time lead to it being expanded to look for other things that the government had no business looking for. And it was abandoned. As of now there's no report or indication that Apple's AI has been trained on CSAM materials and even if it was (which is unlikely since Apple would need a bunch of it to do so) there's no reports or indications that Apple is sharing that data anywhere. People have alleged that mediaanalysisd was doing so but that was debunked a long time ago and the people spreading that misinformation are just not informed. Obviously the second there's any reports of this happening then I think everyone will need to take a good long look at their government and what they think such a system may be expanded to track and if they want to continue using such a tool or not. But for the moment at least, it would appear that Apple at least is safe to continue using. And fortunately CSAM is something that most people will never have to worry about and it's unlikely that such a system would be rolled out along side sweeping changes to look for things deemed offensive or misinformation or wrongthink. So it's a canary in the coal mine that should give everyone plenty of time to switch should it ever be attacked without putting anyone at risk themselves. And honestly... whenever that day comes and the canaries so to speak do all suddenly get caught up in something like that, they will deserve it and I won't feel bad for them at all and will instead be laughing while I look for alternatives.

Why to you believe a company which has a history of legal abuses? If it were a person, you would unlikely trust them, let alone be a friend. The new apple CSAM-related agreement is yet another stepping stone. For me it is enough just to observe the systemic psychopathic elements of large corporations, their continual growth to become more powerful than several countries together. Also, how accepting people have become of giving up their privacy and what this means in terms of financial gains and political power for nefarious purposes in an increasingly turbulent world. In a similar way to other narratives "War on Terror" - see Iraq and death toll as a good example, During Covid similar childishly simplistic one-sided narratives which were partly lies. Now it is "war on CSAM". Creating an enemy in people's minds to detract from the corporate / super rich hegemony is what they are especially good at. Paradoxically it's also a wake up call and an opportunity to create a much more conscious world by starting with the self.

You all should listen to this man! I have a IPhone 15 pro and let me just say, I have (well my wife and I) been living off grid for 5 years now and when we got are iPhone’s we started to get calls from solicitors from all the states we were in? My wife asked me how do they know where and what we are sopping for? Then my local VA called and said we see you have moved out of state! Though we were just seeing a doctor in that state the VA was notified I moved??? I just have to put together what people are saying that have iPhone and are saying the same things are happening to them. Great show! God bless.
@mattd6242 ай бұрын
@Yeshua1158 the likely reason they saw you moved is because of data from the medical visit itself, not from your phone’s location. And I get calls from states I have never visited. What does that mean? ❤I think we need to test this more before buying the claims of a guy who seems to be trying to drive business to his company into which he has invested a huge amount of money. ❤

I can block tracking by putting my phone inside a Faraday cage---- I do it every time I drive any where. Won't work for someone who "thinks" they need to be able to answer the phone "whenever anyone calls them". I'm not one of those obsessive people. The data from Google Maps is what has lead me to the location of the children. The next 4 years are filled with me fighting crooked cops and getting beat up by them in jail… It’s that the kids were gone so long, and that even my lawyer had met with him and my ex. That lawyer tells me how I’m to wait to see the kids in the parking lot every Saturday and charges me a fortune. Even after the divorce is finalized, he tells her that she doesn’t have to open the door or answer the phone. He is right. They don’t. It’s been ten years since I’ve seen the kids. Josh Howery is always short of being a real man. As he drags his butt back to his wife that is twice the man he is. I heard he tried to commit suicide recently. Yeah, his kids seen what he did . Everyone knows… I’ll have to be careful this evening and the next few days. They will come in while ya have no idea and drag ya in for a beat down. Thank you so much for this. Great work and information. It reminds me of the first time I went to work (on a movie, as a sound man) in Post Soviet Ukraine in 1993. I noticed these cheap plastic radios on the wall in every hotel room, and in peoples apartments in everybody's kitchen dining areas. They were cabled radio, not broadcast and plugged into the wall with an unusual proprietary plug. No batteries, so they took both power and content signal from the same circuit. They had 3 buttons: State channel 1,2 and 3. They were made of cheap plastic in the soviet style and while quite flat to the wall had larger diameter speakers. 5-10 inches depending on model. I knew immediately this system can easily be used as a microphone as well. The outlet was always placed near the dining table. As soon as I saw these Alexa things... I thought... wow same idea, just updated. in 96 I moved to Ukraine. One day a door off the entry hall to my apt building was open... I peaked inside. It was a control room with several women surrounded by (very dated looking) monitors and control panels. Like a 60s sci fi set. I asked them what they did and they told me this was the control center for this neighborhood where they could monitor things like power, elevators etc. Every elevator had a simple button and speaker in it... and since they often got stuck you could just push the button and speak to these women in your neighborhood and they would send out a technician or something. Surveillance and especially cultivating snitch culture - encouraging neighbors to spy and tattle on each other for brownie points - was the only way to get totalitarianism to work. It still is until they roll out the terminator robots... all connected to our phones of course.

Well the good news is that almost everything that is in this video is incorrect. So first just know that it's not as bad as he claims it is and he just wants to sell his own phone line. But to answer your question, yes. If you want to remove Apple's copy of your encryption key and become the sole owner of your data and furthermore encrypt far more of your iCloud content you can turn on Advanced Data Protection. HOWEVER!!! It's important to note that if you do this, Apple can't reset your password, or help you regain access to your data if you ever lose your login. Everything will be gone and you'll bear sole responsibility for your data. But if that's something you want you can go to settings, tap your name > iCloud, Advanced Data Protection > Turn on Advanced Data Protection. I believe that the only thing that are not encrypted are contacts, email and calendar. But obviously if you want those encrypted to you could always use a separate service like Proton or something for that. Hope that helps.
