This is my favorite Bread song, bar none! I like the split screen between David Gates and James Griffin they did for the video. It's a shame the video quality isn't better, though. But what's really neat is that I didn't realize that Griffin was doing that intro guitar part, or that Knechtel was the one on electric piano, although I should have realized that. This song gave each band member a chance to shine.

During my customary nocturnal walks, various residences installed on their properties free book kiosks. Sometimes one gets lucky to find a gem, and I'm usually looking for great classics to patch holes in my less-than-impressive academic education. Invariably, I will be heard singing Bread songs, trying to mimic EXACTLY David Gates' vocals. Stopping by a Kiosk after singing "Everything I Own", I opened the glass-panelled door to the miniature dollhouse of the property's home. Amongst the trite fiction & children's books, a rare find a Biography of drummer Buddy Rich, and, to my amazement, a 2019 paperback of: "Bread, A Sweet Surrender. The Musical Journey of David Gates, James Griffin, and Co."!!! I got chills and knew right then it was a gift from God, letting me know that I am heard.🙏 Thanks, Mom💔.

Probably the best song from the reunion album "Lost Without Your Love" (1977). Being a fan of the band from the start, I'm sorry to say that the album as a whole was a bit disappointing. Especially when compared to the two fine solo albums already released by David Gates.
