This is definitely the ethos of the early 1970's, not having any judgements or demands in a relationship. It was a pure kind of love, wanting what was best for each person, realizing if they were meant to be in your life, they would be there, if not then one wished the best for them.

I love Bread and David Gates but Jimmy Griffin was great too. He was just a little unlucky. David and Jimmy had a deal that whoever wrote and sang the song got a lions share of the profits on each single. I read that James thought the record companies weren’t pushing his songs enough and David wouldn’t change the deal so they split.

From the 1970 album, " Bread", one of David Gate's masterpieces. David's songwriting shines through with a gentle melody and lyrics speaking of unconditional love. Thanks for the reaction. This is one of my favorite Bread songs. I have always and still do love to sing along with songs as I'm listening to them. I remember being so happy when I was able to finally remember those three fast lines of lyrics in the middle of the song. For a change of pace I would like to recommend "Down On My Knees". It's another side of Bread showing that they can also rock out. James Griffin the guitar player sings lead and it has some awesome drumming by Mike Botts. I keep recommending it on the reaction channels that I watch and no one has reacted to it yet so I will keep trying.

It's the drummer that's bringing the funk. I don't know how to express it, it's finesse. This is the single version which was a rerecording. On their first album they had a session drummer and he did not have that finesse. It's much less funky. It's striking how much it effects the song honestly, I really miss the groove. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHYl3-DirykoMU Here's a song, I doubt anyone else will suggest. Ride-a-Mile by Donovan.

@@bkm2797 I came across as sarcastic and your comment didn't warrant that. I felt it was inappropriate of me to take a dig at you. I apologize and I'm sorry you saw it. I am very selective when choosing a video and a song, or a live performance. This was my second Bread selection ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHethH95q9Clja8si=-3B8H-atockd9W-S ) and Harri has reacted to most all of their pretty ballads. This gem was burning a hole in a playlist I have for potential selections. I wasn't sure if Harri had ever seen Gates and the boys despite reacting to many of their songs so this was an easy choice. Thanks for the kind words...all the best!

Another beautiful David Gates / Bread melody and performance .. I do like it, but feel that the title does not quite ring true to me .. If the singer REALLY loved the woman, then it WOULD matter to him if she passed him over for another guy, or if she were to later happily return to him.. Yes, he may genuinely want her to be happy, but to say it doesn't matter to him what she chooses would just not be accurate .... I reckon he should have called the song something like "Wish It Could Have Been Me", and slightly re-written the lyrics to say that it is indeed very painful for him that this woman he loves deeply has rejected him for another, but that in the end he honestly wants whatever will make her the happiest and he will respect and try to understand her decision .. I know David Gates is a great songwriter, but these are just my thoughts .. Still a good song.

Harri, why do you have to pause and talk so much thru these great songs 😢😢😢
@pncombies5 ай бұрын
He pauses as do 99% of the reactors. By doing so the song is no longer being played in its original form. Notice the Uno Game and Harri's books in the background; all the titles are backwards. The video has been reversed. This was all by design to avoid having his channel shut down by YT. 3 strikes and you're out!!
