I would be surprised if that cat actually underwent any abuse. It was a special animal used in movies and its owner or trainer was there on the set at all times. The addition of cat noises and breaking objects was also used to dramatize the scene and enhance the auditory experience of the movie. These reproduced sounds are called Foley, named after sound-effects artist Jack Foley. They can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass and cat growls.

Aidean Campbell Worn today, 2 sizes too small, by some obese millenial with her tattooed backfat spilling out of it in the glare of the midday sun, yes, I agree: ghastly. This was designed for a nighttime party or a dimly lit nightclub. In 1961, most people knew not only what to wear, but WHEN to wear it.
