One cool idea I wish they looked into for the Empire of China would have been that if you're an Asian country that isn't a Horde and you take the Mandate, then take most of the provinces in China, you could fully switch over to being a Chinese dynasty with a new unique dynastic name, and make your old country a very loyal Vassal/Tributary to reflect your royal family prioritizing their more prestigious title. You could also get some kind of special bonus depending on which country, so a Southeast Asian would get bonuses to developing Jungles while Korea would get bonuses to Stability and Advisors and Japan would get Manpower or something like that.

@@ellidominusser1138 Well the reason I said everyone other than a Horde is because Hordes already have Yuan and Qing that they can form. Technically, even if you conquer China as Crimea or AQ, you'd be a Mongol successor to some degree and therefore reestablishing the "Yuan Dynasty" makes sense.

I decided to give Korea a try after watching this. My starting king lived into his 80s, and literally a week before he passed, I got that event where you can kick your heir out for another one. The replacement one was 6/5/5. Then he had a talented and ambitious daughter who lived into her 70s. Over the course of those monarchs, the development was INSANE. I would say that tall Korea can snowball and become stupid powerful. But, it wasn't so much a snowball as a spontaneous combustion of raw power.

That is sort of the idea with Reformed's religious focus system but it's very flat and doesn't give very good bonuses, which is why it's suggested to stay Catholic if you start Catholic or go with Protestant. The only bonus Reformed gives that Protestant doesn't is morale of navies and even then, Reformed only gives +5%.

One tiny little min/max thing I would have done is setting my attitude to hostile with every neighbour, land and sea, after embracing the renaissance to keep your advantage over them for just a little bit longer. Though it really isn't necessary, given that they'll be behind on tech either way. May have been good for some players that prefer the slow game playstyle.

You don't need naval techs at all to get +135% ship durability. Emperor of China decret (+20%) + korean doctrine or quality ideas (+5%) + navigator trait (+10%)

Something funny about the expansion focus is that since it modifies BASE cost of developing, all of your dev modifiers actually reduce it by more as well due to being %s of base cost. So a 10% reduction is now 5.5 not 5, and so on. This means expansion really isnt that painful for deving at all lol.

Paradox has always had a thing about Ming. They lasted to 1644. But heck, a well-timed Trade War is enough to cause them to collapse. A bit ridiculous that a nation is coded to explode in almost every game. There aren't any European nations coded to simply explode when sneezed on. Imagine that. Maybe the Ottomans (now). Yeah I've started a few games in Asia now and Ming explodes very quickly every time so far. Whatever is going on with the mandate the AI cannot deal with it at all, I'm in the 1460's right now and they're already starting to implode.
