They added several cool unique ships with this patch. I started a game as the Netherlands the other day and their VOC ships are pretty great. More trade power and also act as transport ships. Also their build limit is based on your trade efficiency and naval force limit.

If you plan to take a lot of India, it stops trade leakage. It's important not in fingerling trade to yourself but in stopping leakage

Wouldnt it be smart to in the very least get a colonial nation in brazil mexico and the caribean that can expand on their own and help in wars? Expanding east and monopolizing the ivory coast sounds great but i thought the west is important too? Im not the best at eu4 so im curious about the reasons behind this

You should still conquer Hormuz if you go into india because it's downstream of Gujarat and you don't want to lose a lot of trade to Hormuz node.

I think the point of the Hormuz mission is because historically the Portuguese were trying to contain the Ottoman Empire's access to eastern trade which they did by keeping Ethiopia independent to contest the red sea and I guess they had aspirations to control the strait of Hormuz as well though I don't think they actually achieved it.

its funny how i started playing Burgundy and allied Castile and tried to war Aragon, and Castile kept getting their asses kicked by Aragon.. so I restarted and allied Aragon, and now when I was Castile, Aragon keeps getting their asses kicked by Castile. Its almost as if the game cheats. Its funny how the ally of the player is always totally useless and just throws their armies away.

My economy gets absolutely destroyed after my first war vs Morocco and idk how to pass that initial barrier. I always seem to have to fight Morocco, all it's subjects, Tunis and Granada, with the need of Spain's help. I get drowned in loans. if you form a new world nation like Florida, it integrates your colonial nations (and abandons your old world land). Otherwise, no.

@@QuarbitGaming yup. So I went Protestant just for funnsies. It's 1730 now and I'm thinking a one faith is possible.... Maybe. Still butt hurt I lost out on like 30 years of larger and quicker colonies. Then again, all I have left for colonies are half the inland African provinces. South America is mine and Newfoundland is the only colony not fully mine in North America. I like having the colonies as a shield against coalitions. 200k extra troops keeps the angry Muslims, Confucians, and Hindus at bay. Even if they rarely ever do anything meaningful.

Our pope player saw the "reduce reformation desire" button and spent the entire curia treasury on it. Every reformation event afterwards added like 40% reformation desire. I was also in fact playing Portugal. I got to use the settler age objective for less than a decade.
