Unemployment is an odd concept in an economy where for so many folks it’s necessary to work multiple jobs just to get by. Loose one and you’re counted as employed but suddenly don’t have enough money to live.

Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. People are turning to the dollar because they think it's safer. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of high inflation. Where else can we keep our money?

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

Mega-retailers like Walmart and Target have figured out since the so-called pandemic that there is more money to be made selling over-priced groceries than hard goods like electronics, clothing and hardware items. So their claim that they are paying more for grocery items and are just passing on these increases to unsuspecting consumers is just that a claim, and an unsubstantiated one. Also, if retail / grocery stores like Walmart or Target ever see a decline in their hard goods sales, they simply jack up their grocery prices to make up the difference. That is the blatant downside and high price their customers pay for the so-called convenience of one-stop shopping.

You guys know nothing about commodity prices. Corm prices were $6.50 a bushel in 2022. Corn prices were roughly $4.50 a bushel in 2023. If Cargill purchased 5 billion bushels of corn in each of those years and sold the corn for 30 cents more per bushel than what they purchased it for their gross sales would be 10 billion dollars lower. Even though their gross sales were lower their net profit would be the same. They also buy wheat, soybeans, and other commodities which are lower priced than they were in 2022. That explains lower gross sales.

Why do corporations get away with murder? Why does government allow this to happen by passing laws and regulations, and deregulating the very framework that these corporations operate within, both nationally and internationally? Why are We, the People suffering at the hands of this oligarchical government, while our taxpayer dollars are being used against us? And why does there seem to be no difference between the private sector and the public one? Answer: Because government owns it all!!!

my anectdotal evidence about what might be happening is at the grocery store seeing all these chicken cuts being marked down because nobody bought them at the current prices. That food will be likely thrown away. If costs go up beyond what can be passed on to the customer it can hurt the bottom line of these companies. If so many customers lose their jobs they cannot afford to buy the products, it will get worse.

Don't throw away the cardboard! For people in tents, put a tarp down, cardboard fashioned with duck tape, tarp over that, then the tent. The ground saps heat out. This will help. In the spring, you can layer cardboard over a garden you are making to stop the weeds, then dirt on top before you plant. Just make sure there is no plastic on the cardboard. As cardboard rots, it attracts worms. Please pass this information on to churches, etc. They have mountains of cardboard boxes they are throwing away. 1

Sorry had to stop watching after hearing country’s government throttling their business. Cargill has been accused of some of the worse abuses of child trafficking and slavery, mass deforestation, environmental devastation, etc. There has been a concerted effort by China and India to move away from US agricultural imports resourcing to other BRICS countries, especially Brazil. Brazil and Argentina have been rapidly cultivating millions of acres of crop land resulting in surpluses of some commodities. Consequently, US agricultural grain prices have been in decline.
