I am on in with those 5 members. I think that team start really strong. Carol being the strongest and more powerful takes the place of Thor and Hulk as heavy hitter. Cap is Cap. Shang chi another good heavy hitter more in line with Iron man in power level. Spiderman and Shuri are perfect additions.

I think the lack of lead up is a good thing. In Avengers, the whole team met each other and faced Loki and the Chitauri threat. In Avengers 5, it would be great to see Spider-Man meet Shuri, Shang Chi to meet Sam Wilson Cap, Captain Marvel to butt heads with Sam and face a threat like Kang they individually would be woefully unprepared to fight but team together to beat him/his Variants. It would be great to throw maybe Moon Knight or Wasp in the mix too to even out the teams into a six person team like the first Avengers movie though.

As far as DC goes, they should have let Snyder do his thing from the very beginning but WB has to mess with everything their directors do so if it comes out bad then it looks bad on the director but MoS,BvS Ultimate Edition, ZS JL,WW, Aquaman was great... even the first Shazam was decent. Black Adam was good but it didn't get released everywhere like most other films. It wasn't just Snyder that had their projects changed by WB. Nolan in the DCEU (Not the Dark Knight). Bringing Snyder,Nolan, Affleck,Jim Lee,and ECT back to helm the DC projects is crucial to the future of WB Discovery and DC Films.

I like the main team they come up where the least developed character in the group is Shang-Chi. I see them working into the team from a more cameo style in the 6th movie... War Machine, Thor, Vision, Dr. Strange and Ant-Man and then make the big show-up in the 7th movie when the gang gets back together like End Game. They can then use the 6th movie to deep dive into Hercules and Wonder Man if Disney + hasn't given them a back story yet. But I like your team !!

It's not a team that i'd particularly like, but I think it's mostly just THERE to get the job done and get them where they need to go. Not sure what their chemistry will be like. But hopefully it's a watchable and enjoyable movie. and they figure out the chemistry for this cast.

Ngl, I struggle to picture characters like Black Panther, Captain Marvel & Doctor Strange being part of the main Avengers tbh. I'd expect them to all be present during a large event like Infinity War, Endgame & Secret Wars, but I can't imagine them being part of a smaller team/ roster - they all feel too independent imo, w/ them each having their own domain to take care of (i.e. Wakanda, Space & Mystic Arts).

OG Avengers: Hawkeye and Black Widow knew each other before we met them. Iron Man was in an end credit scene of Hulk’s movie, but didn’t actually talk to Hulk. Iron Man met Black Widow in IM2. Thor met Hawkeye in Thor 1. Cap met everyone in Avengers 1 (although he knew Tony’s dad). New Avengers: New Captain America interacted with Spidey in Civil War (he didn’t know him as Peter then so he’ll still remember). New Captain America has been to Wakanda and has a vibranium suit and shield, so him and Shuri have likely had off screen interactions. Captain Marvel will remember getting the infinity glove from Spider-Man in the battle, just not Peter Parker. Shuri and Captain Marvel were part of that A-Team moment where all the women were walking up and stared fighting together. New Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Shuri were all at Iron Man’s funeral and likely had interactions. (Peter was there as himself and not Spidey, so they wouldn’t remember him being there). Shang Chi met Captain Marvel (and Hulk and Wong) in his movie’s end credit scene. So you could argue there’s been maybe more pre-avengers movie-teamup interactions with this new group. Part of what I liked from the first avengers was seeing some of them interacting for the 1st time, and some of them meeting each other again, and it should work out that same way this time. Plus, there’s the added benefit of them each having multiple projects that we’ve already seen them in (except Shang Chi) So we fully know each character at this point, now we get to meet the team and see how they work together (btw, Anthony Mackie and Tom Holland should be hilarious in the press tours!) Should be great!
