Shocked and devastated James. I’m 26, and have heard the stories of amazing managers we have had over our history, Shanks, Paisley, Dalglish to name a few. But in my lifetime he has been the best thing to ever happen to our club. Has given it his all and has done amazing things which we will still talk about decades on. He WILL be in the same bracket of Shanks and Paisley when you talk about the greats of Liverpool l. A sad, sad day.

The only title missing from Klopp's tenure with us at Liverpool is, weirdly, the Europa League, and we're currently the Favourites to lift it this season. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have Klopp's final game as Liverpool Manager be a European Final played in Dublin Ireland, Liverpool's 'Home Away From Home,' with Klopp winning the final Trophy he needs to complete the set! Here's hoping!

The perfect final day wouldn't necessarily have to be a day of winning a title. I just want Kloppo to get the respect he deserves. During his tenure he has evolved the Liverpool squad twice, and this time we have world class performance and a very young team. The potential for this team very high, and for a manager to make sure the team is in such a position before leaving is incredible. Obviously this isn't what you want to hear as a Liverpool fan, but it is inevitable. I encourage everyone to remember the fantastic years we got with this incredible icon of a manager, all the iconic things he said and all the fantastic memories he's given us. "It's not important what people think when you come in, it's much more important what people think when you leave." Let's do this man a favor and remember him as the incredible man and manager he was (and still is) for us. Danke Jürgen! YNWA!

Just absolutely devastating. Like being told a family member is sick. He means so much to Liverpool fans, especially of my age who never saw the super successful years in the 70's and 80's. He was my generations Shankly, compeltely transformed the club and turned us from doubters to believers. Let's hope Alonso can be my generations Paisley. Build him a statue, shower him with all our love from now until the end of the season, because there's never been a man who deserves it as much as our Jurgen.

There are so some real parallels. Bill Shankly just like Klopp was a very charismatic and an erratic figure. His replacement Bob Paisley was the polar opposite. Much more calm and didn't really micro-manage his players pretty much like Carlo Ancelotti. Xabi Alonso especially throughout his playing career was known for his calmness and professionalism.

Even as an Arsenal fan I’m kind of sad such an iconic figure of the Prem who was the rare perfect match for his club is leaving. But it’s also pretty exciting to begin an extremely rare period where a manager can get his flowers and actually be appreciated before he bows out cause it usually ends ugly for even the best in Jurgen’s profession. Fair play and good health to him👏🏼

I'm not a Liverpool fan, in fact I love seeing them lose honestly, but Klopp has been a shining light in English football for 8/9 years. His teams are utterly relentless, unwavering and box office and every football fan would love to have a manager who is able to extract that kind of attitude from their players. I also think every player would love to have a manager like that, who they feel they would do ANYTHING for. He has been the other half of the second biggest rivalry in the prem, after Wenger and Fergie, for a decade (him and Pep) and now stands in the pantheon of greatest managers to work in the prem, for sure. English football will miss you Jurgen, bravo and bonne chance.

Stunned and absolutely heartbroken. I always knew he would leave on his own terms - cause he always has. But was certainly not prepared for it to be now. Having him as manager, you've always felt safe and good and calm - nothing would ever go off the rails, because he would be there, everpresent. I have never had the love and trust of any manager, or anything close to it, as I've had with him. And once he's gone, so is the safety-net. What a wonderful manager, and what an incredible person. We've been so incredibly fortunate to have him for as long as e've had, and I'll love him forever.

I began supporting Liverpool in the wilderness years of the late 90s, then the years of sporadic success in the 00s and the baron years of the early 10s. Klopp has completely changed the fortunes of this great club. It was a sleeping giant and is now, thanks to Klopp, a giant to be feared again. Some of my greatest memories will be thanks to him. Its not just about the trophies though, its the journey he has taken us on, the moments along the way and the connection that has been reinstalled between the club and fans. Liverpool FC is infinitesimally better for having had Jurgen as a manager. It's sad, it's heartbreaking but above all im just happy we got to have him as one of our own 👏

Absolutely gutted. But it could be a blinder of a move. It pumps up the team halfway through the season with the goal of making Klopp's last season a sensation. If we get Alonso next season, I think it will soften the transition for fans, and make the next chapter a bright one. (I don't think Gerrard is as good as he'd want to be).

As an LFC fan it's sad and gut wrenching but I think there's been too many great memories (a league title which we looked so far from after rodgers, multiple strong CL campaigns including a trophy and an all time great comeback against Barcelona, and all the pride that can come with truly amazing seasons which fell short to city's by a goal or two) for me to have anything but pride and thanks. I've truly loved the way we've played, and in turn hearing how people talk about/see us as a club the past 9 years. Klopp is who I really wanted when Rogers was sacked, I was shocked when we got him. The rest has been a wonderful ride, full of optimism and a renewed love of how it should be done. I love Klopp and today is a sad sad day

Great video James. Listen I’m a Newcastle fan but having watched Klopp’s video it was very emotional, very honest and very sad. He’ll be a massive loss to the game because tbh the game is slowly losing the real characters. Regardless of how much he wound up opposing supporters he will always be remembered as a true icon of the Premier League even though he only won four cups in nearly 10 years…. One positive note is that at least Newcastle might have a chance of beating Liverpool now he’s off to play golf for a year or two. Good luck and best wishes Jurgen in whatever you choose to do. I think you deserve it. Respect…..

As a Liverpool fan, we are all devastated by this. He is one of the best Prem managers let alone Liverpool managers. There won't ever be another Klopp. We can't replace him but we can get pretty close with who FSG appoint next. The next appointment is a very crucial one. I would choose Alonso but he is only at his first Managerial stint. This is sad for all of us Reds

I think he didnt expect to be in the position he is in now at the start of this season, i think hes said he first started thinking about this decision since November 2022, so its been on his mind for a while. I think he saw the club was not in its best place to depart - and now this season we are so much further ahead in our development than was expected, i think he sees this squad one worthy of handing over to a new leader, proudly, the right way. He probably also knows this squad will have success in the future after he leaves, and maybe leaving earlier than his contract extension gives another manager the best chance to succeed by taking this squad on now, while theyre in the right moment. Also (as he said) hes walking away at the right time, going out in a good moment. Nobody is going to fire him, or tell him when he is done, its up to him to decide when he can no longer keep up with his own standards, and he has decided its time. I still hope something changes, i hope we go on a crazy run and win everything between now and the summer - and standing on the Anfield turf on the last day of the season with a freshly won PL trophy in hand, maybe he changes his mind. Or maybe he takes his break, re-invigorates his motivation and comes back after a hiatus... i need an emergency jar of copium, you have to allow me this fantasy! The knowledge that Pep Ljinders is also leaving with him at the end of the season is a massive blow too, in the words of cara, if Klopp leaving is a body shot, loosing pep too is a punch in the back of the head! If Klopp was our Shankly 2.0, Ljinders was set to be our Paisley 2.0. Now the uncertainty surrounding the eventual replacement is much less clear, as many of us thought it would be Ljinders to follow on. But mostly, the biggest thought ive had all day has been "thank you for all these memories, and for sharing yourself with us!" 1

I love and adore this man, even though I never met him. But Jürgen has done so much for our beloved club, and he does not owe us anything. I also much prefer that he leaves on his own terms together with the undying love of the fans, than staying when he knows he shouldn´t and end up getting sacked instead. He deserves everything in life however it turns out. And his family also derserve to have him in their life.

As a person, I pride myself on not being too emotional about football but I actually was a little bit teary watching his interview. I am 23 and I was 14 when he took over… my whole adult life and most of my obsessive years of football Klopp was the manager and I knew he’d go eventually but you just don’t realise the impact it has on you until it’s going and I’m just very thankful to have grown up and into a man watching great football inspired by a man I grew to love ❤️

I'm shocked and profoundly sad at this news and really I can't express how much I love the man as a person and what he has done for our club. I totally respect his decision and he has earned the right to leave on his terms. I feel this has come to a head with the corrupt/incompetent referees in this league. When margins are so so tight, he may just have decided it's not worth it anymore.

As a Liverpool fan of 35 years I've seen it all. I am upset and worried for the club. I don't think there is a manager out there can take Liverpool forward. Xabi is relatively inexperienced and de zerbi has half a good season with Brighton. I don't count his time in Ukraine as that's similar to Stevie g time in Scotland. I fear we will lose players and be like utd of the last 10 years. We have no DOF either which I think is just as big of a problem

He became liverpool from day 1 till now he is What showed us everything how to fight how to comeback how to celebrate I never felt so attached to a person without even meeting that person he has everyone emotionally attached …..it was an emotion and he gave this generation of liverpool everything he could give and an unbelievable experience which will remain as an legacy I don’t know if we will ever experience and get connected to a football club like he did ……I can imagine how he feels becuase he was involved emotionally mentally and physically which definately can take a toll there is no manager out there who are as involved as he is and that can take a lot on a person that is why liverpool is what liverpool is right now he understood and did it well …..I just can’t sink in the feeling yet but one day would love a hug from Klopp

Yes Klopp is the best manager that Liverpool has had in modern times. I would put him up in the pantheon with Dalgleish, Shankley, and possibly Paisley who was the most successful manager in our history. Dalgliesh, Shankley, and Paisley, were all beset by crowd issues culminating in the very bad instances. How Dalgleish managed the club and the city after Hillsborough was something I will never see again. We tempted Klopp away from a rest break after his sterling work at Borussia Dortmund and as we were floundering. He saved the club and at least half the city. He dusted down a relic and breathed new life into the club, just like Shankley did in the 50s and 60s, the boot room was synonymous with great managers being created, great British managers. But the succession of nearly men after tgis and before Klopp sometimes infuriated me, one highlight was Benitez, and houllier. We need to soak it up and revel in the next 5 to 6 months and hopefully get everything on offer. We need the bosses to be exhaustive in getting the right replacement. Not just any manager will do.

Ymmv but I think Hendo leaving in the way he did has a lot to do with this departure. He & Jurgen were bonded together, like a found father-son team. Jordan was Jurgen's voice on the pitch in the thick of it. They went through the crucible together, they fronted out critics, and it was their vision of LFC and their emotional drive to validate themselves and each other that drove them on. It can't have been easy for either of them to walk away after so long, or for Jurgen to come to a place where he isn't on the same page or team as Hendo anymore. What hurts the most is that Jordan won't be there with the rest of LFC to say goodbye or send off the man who meant and gave so much.

they should do manager icon cards on fifa to honour those like jurgen or pep or mourinho so that the next gen will remember them bc the new gen are getting rly invested in football games but bc of the lack of media attention to non-g/a related feats such as the presence and importance of managers and defenders they wont appreciate them as much.

I’m an Arsenal fan and this news is gut-wrenching. How conflicted I feel about, imo, the best manager in the world leaving leaves a gap for my club to fill. But the competition for City gets easier at the same time. I also just love the man, I want Arteta to emulate the things he’s done for LFC in style of play as well as his personality. Gonna miss the interviews.

I’m grateful to everything he has done, said, the galvanising effect he has had on the club, fans, community, and football as a whole. Will always be thankful and on reflection happy it’s not him saying this in May… need to make the most of the time we have left with this man at the helm of this club. The league will be less colourful without him. Love that man to bits ❤
