The cool thing is, if you can ollie onto that pad and manual, you can ollie into 50/50 and 5-0. I have been working on ollieing up onto a similar manny pad, but, for whatever reason, going full on messed with my head. I started stationary, next to it, and ollied into an FS axle stall. Next, got a little speed, and got ollie to FS 50/50's. After that, I could just ollie on to the pad. It was obviously just some sort of mental block. I just needed to show my brain I wouldn't die, haha. But, felt so good! I'll have to look back through your vids, I don't remember if you were already ollieing into 50-50's and 5-0's. But, If you weren't, you can now! Awesome vid! it's so cool to see the hard work and growth.

haha yeah! Totally! I know that I can ollie into them, just haven't had or taken advantage of a lot of chances to. I have another little box though with angle iron that I tried out a few weeks ago. So, will definitely be exploring those more this summer 😃 glad you got over that mental block too though 💪

I built a replica of the Keen Ramps - Slap Pad. Still afraid to ollie onto it because it's only 6ft long, so there's not much room to roll once you get on. I love it though! Only 7 inches high and will allow me to learn 50-50 grinds. Thanks for all your videos! 🥰

Awesome video Sarah! Coincidentally I just picked up wood yesterday to build one for my son and I to skate, building it today. Congrats on a few successful manny's across your new manny pad! Keep up the great effort and keep the vids coming, I love the way you approach skating. I started skating as a kid and never thought much about the technicalities, I just loved it and relentlessly tried learning tricks. After taking a decades long break and now getting back into it as an adult, I really appreciate your thoughtful and technical approach and it's been very helpful for me because that's how my brain works now.

Looks like a soft drink pallet, around 36x36in. Congrats on diy box and those woodworking skills, I am impressed! I bought materials and tools to build a quarter, but I haven't ordered the coping part. It has to be online apparently because it's not at the hardware store. Then I can trace that part into my cuts. I took woodworking in middle school but the only thing I remember vividly is the bandsaw. I wanna get a cheap one and cut shoes in half! Good upload today! I was wondering why you missed the usual Saturday spot. Figured you were working on something interesting and different than the usual, I was not wrong. Finally, some advice that could be useful. A few weeks back I saw a trick tip that said to push the board forward mid-ollie in front of you so you can land with your balance closer to the back truck. Don't underestimate this tip, it taught me how to ollie up big curbs too. Using that technique I was able to get ollie up consistently. Thanks for sharing your stories with us. Good luck Sarah!

thanks! It was fun making the box. I'm probably most proud of the handle cut outs. They've been perfect haha 😂 And yes! Thank you. I've heard this advice a lot. I'm not too good at executing it yet, but I think it will help a ton. And it's a great reminder to help me remember during the session. But, I have gotten a few good attempts since I filmed this, so there is hope! Though no good lands yet. Good luck with that quarter! I know the coping can be a little hard to find locally. When I looked into it myself, I found that too. So, hope it's not too hard.

Whoa battling it for real! Max respect for the grit there. Only a true skater can shred like this. BTW, my guess is you are realizing the same thing that my local group found out the hard way, which is that manual pads need to be pretty long lol we made one out of a tea table with the length of 125cm, and it is so very lacking in length... It's also about 25cm tall, so if you clip on the way in, you are fairly high up when you get launched over the whole thing and onto pavement haha We just said that's what streets give ya, but we are definitely looking for something longer we can diy.

thanks!! 😃 I totally agree! Which is why I actually made two of these. I have some clamps to install to hook them together when in use, but I haven't gotten around to it. Unfortunately, they need to fit in my little car so even together the manny pad won't be super big. But, I think it will be just enough to have some extra fun and time in the manual!
@burger1113
@burger1113 8 ай бұрын
@@SarahParkMatott ohhh clamps lol that's actually a great idea... I kinda wrote off the possibility of making two pads to connect since they would just shift out of place, but that's worth trying. Smart!
@SarahParkMatott

@@burger1113 right? I thought about it a lot since I have such a small car but once I found some decent clamps I could screw into each piece I realized there was some potential to a two part manny pad 😃 I put it off since its been winter and raining, but gotta get to attaching those now haha

I'm so hyped by the woodworking!!!!! And what a great size to fit in the car and not be monstrous to drag into location!! My dream is to eventually build a 2ft quarter, buuuutttt I might need to kidnap someone's shed (or make enemies with my neighbours;)) I have decided you're using the manual pad all wrong tho. Ollie's are out and pressure flips are in. ONLY PRESSURE TO ASCEND ALL TALL THINGS
@SarahParkMatott

hahah thanks Joce! I actually made two, but I haven't installed the hinges yet to clamp them together when in use🙈 You can always borrow our shop! (translation: come visit 🙋‍♀️) A little quarter would be awesome for you! And also...yes 😭 if I can just do them 5 times faster than I can currently, I'll be pressure flipping instead of ollie-ing up stuff 100%

thank you! I grew up in a family that did woodworking for a living. So, I've been helping out since I was a kid with projects and jobs 😃 I typically design something and then ask for feedback or instruction if there are any tools I haven't used before---a couple I avoid like the table saw. It's I think a previous season of real's shorter wheelbase collection. It's a 13 inch wheelbase that wasn't in their lineup this spring for their "short" boards with the new True Fit mold. So, a very different deck actually haha

That's such a great point. I actually did 😃anything I make has to fit in my car, so I knew from the beginning that the manny pad would be too small. So, I made two, and I have some hinges to clamp the two together when in use, but I haven't gotten around to screwing those in. So, I've only been using one. But, I designed it for two to clamp together when in use and separate to fit in my car 😃 Excited to get that out when I can!

Nice obstacles. Going faster, have to have enough speed to Ollie onto them. Is it a ramp fear? Transitions. No, you can do all of it. You won't do two obstacles.
