Fun fact. Eggman actually does care for Metal but in a greatest creation way. He's the only robot Eggman is willing to go out of his way to repair when damaged, most of the others he simply replaces, because Metal is so advanced it is easier to repair him them to replace him. When comes to what's important to Eggman the order goes 1: Eggman himself. 2: Whatever the current scheme is. 3: Metal Sonic.

The three rules are as stated: The first law is that a robot shall not harm a human, or by inaction allow a human to come to harm. The second law is that a robot shall obey any instruction given to it by a human, and the third law is that a robot shall avoid actions or situations that could cause it to come to harm itself.

Eggman views "The 3 laws" for engineers with no imagination. Why have that when you can literally program your robots to actually have concepts of fear, pain and death? Keeps them far more obident... with a few exceptions.

@@BlasterMiester Mecha Sonic from Sonic 3&K stole Metal's redemption arc in the Scrapnink comics. I do not understand to this very day why they decided to give this arc to Mecha considering Mecha had like no personality whatsoever. Yeah he was cool but he had no personality when in comparison to Metal who has always had slight hints of having a personality and potential to become good.

Sonic tries this in IDW comics. Recovers Metal after a huge fight with him, and has Tails repair (but de-weaponise) him. Attempts to make a truce. Doesn't expect them to be friends, just wants Metal to be free to make his own choices.

And Metal just decides he'd rather continue being Eggman's little pet instead of finally being free to do his own thing by going straight back to the doc (which Sonic angrily calls him out on)......while Mecha Sonic (who had no personality to begin with) is the one who gets character development and redemption. Thanks for that IDW!

A Metal going this route works, but personaly I'd prefer such takes on Metal to not go the same route as Shade the Metal. He'd really just be another "Sonic" Like Yeah Shade is cool, but it's not a Metal I'm too fond of.
