@4:00 , it's false. You can't negotiate your GC application when you are getting your offer. May be possible in some small desi consultancy company. But no big company will change their 1 year wait time process for you personally. Remember that you are one of the 10,000 engineers with similar skills on the market.

I challenged it and got it on Amazon. I agree it wasn’t easy. My manager tried to dodge it. I got the recruiter to email my manager. There is a lot more to this. The VP of the org had at some point sent out a blanket email saying he “approves” day 1 green card for all new hire Alexa engineers. Thankfully my recruiter had a copy of it. They attached it and sent it to my manager. Only after that my manager budged.

I don’t think that is mandatory. Initially they said I need to wait for a year but I negotiated to do it on day 1 and told that would be a deal breaker for me. They accepted to my request and started the process even before I joined. The company was not a small company in any scale. One of the biggest in the US.😊

I applied 3months later after joining the company(my side late), and suffered 3 years around 485 time because of priority date retrogression. So, the advice is apply immediately(if possible) and dont waste your time.

EB is not fully free. Employer only bears the fees for i140 and the rest is employee responsibility at least in my company

People who have experience are not getting processed on day 1 in many bigger companies itself. Its easier said than done. Esp as a fresher there is no guarantee for the company also that u wilk stay longer and they need to invest a lot in immigration attorney fees and such. Unless you are a exceptional candidate they dont do exceptions. Consider urself lucky. In a tight job market like current one and with H1b lottery deciidng ur fate good luck with getting a job first and then good luck with negotiating GC application Day 1. Pls dont spread false hopes like these. I agree we shud try to negotiate with recruiter but for ppl like freshers and lesser experience dont get the uppper hand in negotiation unless the company feels u r exceptional candidate that they dont want to miss and u have several counter offers.

Even you have mentioned in ur previous comment that you urself had to fight ur Amazon manager to get this on Day 1. I know friends in Amazon where minimum wait is 1 year. Maybe your Alexa team got an exception. how many ppl watching this will be able to find a job in the same team or same company? Even bigger FAANG companies have their rules and i agree there is no such rule from USCIS but no one can oppose company policy. As i said again there will be exceptions and you might be the lucky one. But that is not the norm is my point. Given the current state of H1B lottery struggles finding a job itself is hard, if you start being firm on such GC policies good luck finding a job. The company always has 1000's of candidates ready to take up a job with no demands.

You said date is given after application is submitted which is not correct , the date when PERM is approved , is considered as Priority date which is used until Green card is approved . PERM itself takes time for approval. Sooner the process is started better it is!

Hey i got green card in 9 years and i also had Indian passport. The only difference is even though i am Indian my country of birth is Oman. So the process was much faster for me compared to my Indian friends who are born in India. I went to USA in 2006 and i got green card in 2014 and in 2019 i got my US passport and i applied for Indian OCI. My Indian friend who also came with me in 2006 and who was born in India got his green card only in 2022. My point is COUNTRY OF BIRTH MATTERS and NOT INDIAN PASSPORT ITSELF.

@@Hobby_Explorer_Tamil my employer initiated my perm on 2019 when I was in usa , it was rejected in 2020, and 2021 was my Max out, in 2021 December they filed it again(India) with perm (6months of approval timeline and I-140 was 3 month of approval timeline) ......hope it helps..
