So about the "why didn't Hannibal attack through Sicily?" It's because that is where Rome thought Carthage would attack. Rome had two main armies one was sent to their holdings in Spain and the other was sent to Sicily, that is one of the reasons why Hannibal did so well.

@Alex: you can declare war to Edetani without the Arevaci helping them by simply selecting the Cessetani and offering to join their war against Edetani. You can always use this trick when declaring war against factions who have allies and are at war with different factions. I don't think is a feature, but a bug. So to the QA of CA... you are not doing your job. I think I started using this exploit since the first Rome game, but I don't remember exactly and I would be surprised if they fixed it in the games after Attila (I didn't play any of them).

8:22 It isn't necessarily that the cavalry sucks, it's just they have to us their mobility to their advantage. It's a LOT of micromanaging, but you can easily flank ranged units and even spearmen on both sides with your cavalry to demoralize them. Then again, Carthaginian units in general are garbage. Once I fought a custom battle with a full Carthaginian army vs peasants and the peasants routed my front line.

I think putting your hoplites in the middle of your formation will improve the performance of your army, 'cause they have more defence and will be able to hold the line better than your swordsmen, and your swordsmen, as they are more mobile, use them on your wings. I’m playing on hard and I allowed Sicily to fall so Syracuse could build it after a rebellion. I allowed Sardinia to fall because it was unholdable to the Romans. I back Nova Carthage and Libya all the way and consolidated Africa and southern Iberia and become friends with Egypt so my eastern flank was secure. I made allies of Knossos and Rhodos to help my unnatainaible naval ambitions and befriend Athens and Sparta. I’ve researched merc research to make them cheaper and built my economy, built everything and defended against Syracuse in thapsos (easy to do when you build garrison there and Carthage because you can move and army from either) now I’m at Syracuse with a full stack everywhere, I’ve paid the celts and maesallyi to join the war to draw Roman soldiers away from my frontier. Averni are powerful and they’ve just declared war. Invade through Sicily. Thank me later!
