The shadow of the Basilisk and Fawkes fighting didn't petrify Harry because he's not seeing the reflection of the Basilisk's eyes per se. It's like when you're seeing the sillhouette of a person, you don't see the color of their eyes even if you see the shadow of their eyelashes.

Expelliarmus is depicted as red, not green in the movie. Also it mainly only takes this form when their wands connect, it is also often just shown as a wand getting knocked out of someone’s hand
@jordy90962 күн бұрын
I think the simple reason for these two being the most faithful adaptation is simply because they’re the two smallest books so there’s less that needs to be left out.

Did anyone notice Eric react to Evan walking infront of camera 😂. "Oh my gawd".
@jordy90962 күн бұрын
Harry using expelliarmus isn’t necessarily goofy, it’s very purposefully done. It’s a signal of his purity, that he won’t kill, that even against Voldemort he shoots to disarm. It’s also what gave him away in the battle of the seven potters because he disarmed stan shunpike rather that knock him of his broom. It’s what makes him who he is, a full intact whole soul, against voldemorts maimed soul.
@SS.ninefour2 күн бұрын
But that's what's amazing - the simplicity of it all. There's no grand spell or secret magic that Lily did. It was her sacrifice of dying for her son despite being given that option to step aside, having her husband be killed moments before too. That's why THAT thwarted Voldemort. Because it was so SIMPLE, and he would never think something like that can defeat him. Remember in the book, Harry felt like oh so it was just that? Just love? That was what banished Voldemort?... because in essence, it's really so simple and yet so REAL and noble and POWERFUL.
@prasanta03082 күн бұрын
Plus, the option of sparing Lily came because Snape requested Voldemort. It seems like most people forget this detail. Or I am remembering incorrectly.

@ if that’s the case then his killing curse should have rebounded again because Harry chose to go into the forest to die to protect EVERYONE, he had a similar choice to live or die as Lilly but no huge protection spell, just the horcrux magic

Love the breakdowns. Not a fan of the aftershow where you guys get annoyed at all the people who watch and comment on your videos just because they hold you guys to a certain standard of accuracy. You’ve set an expectation with thorough and detailed breakdowns for years. So it can be frustrating for some when details are incorrect or left out. If you’re going to get annoyed or make jokes about those particular commenters, just don’t address them. Gives me the ick a little.

Every single Pottermore quiz I've taken whether it's on the official site or on like Quizzilla or whatever the Buzzfeed version was, I've always gotten sorted into Slytherin. My patronus probably did change, but the one I remember the most, was me getting a super rare one (apparently), the Runespoor. For those who don't know it's like this 6 foot long, 3 headed, extremely venomous serpent. These 2 things always stood out to me because snakes are my greatest fear. Like Ron Weasley/Rupert Grint levels of fear of spiders, but for me, snakes. If I actually got sorted into Slytherin I'd leave the school immediately.
@claytonlinville632318 сағат бұрын
In the books, it's not that expeliarmus is the "beam" that interacts with the green Avadacadabra lightning. Harry's wand shoots a beam of golden flames at Voldemort's wand, causing the clash. It's why the twin cores are such a big deal.
@sherwood7hpКүн бұрын
I should’ve commented on this last week, but on the topic of Lily’s protective charm, it wasn’t an actual spell. In the book Deathly Hallows, after Harry willingly sacrifices himself to Voldemort and is carried back into Hogwarts, none of Voldemort’s spells stick on the students, Order, and parents, because Harry invoked the same protective charm [without a spell]

Hi team! To help Eric understand a little better about his whole "but a shadow is a reflection". It's not about the "reflection" it's about seeing the basilik's EYES. If seeing it head on PERIOD killed you, it wouldn't matter if it were blind or not. It's specifically seeing its EYES. So seeing a reflection of its eyes petrifies, and seeing its eyes directly is what kills you. Once blind, it's just the teeth and size you have to worry about.
@JordiVanderwaalКүн бұрын
23:25 no no, you were absolutely correct in that assessment. Weirdly religious people are the ones having lots of children nowadays. And poor + religious people as well. And then, there's a few very rich (and sometimes famous) people also having tons of kids, but they can afford it so no one complains about it.
@gregsitcler901817 сағат бұрын
I believe that the protection that made it impossible for Voldemort to attack Harry at his blood relative's house was a spell that Dumbledor performed and was codified by his aunt agreeing to take him in. The other protection I don't think was a spell because Harry gave the same protecion to the people he loved when Voldemort tried to kill him at the end of The Deathly Hallows.

Appreciate all ur honesty & admitting maybe u could have offended folks w the Weasley family comment. It didn't bother me, but I can definitely understand if others got the feelings of disrespect. I always thought it was that mama Weasley always wanted a girl & she kept having boys so finally when she got her baby girl I thought it was pretty obvious that's when she stopped having kids. I didn't realize ppl would take that any other way so if anything thanks for opening my eyes to other possibilities. Enjoyed the breakdown! ❤💞❤️

3:09 I really like the Super Carlin Bros theory that Filch is actually a poltergeist not a squib. Like how Peeves is a manifestation of all the Hogwarts rule breaking, Filch is a manifestation of rules and order. Edit: I have arrived at the point in the video where they comment on this. I think saying the theory is “obviously not true” is a subjective perspective. It’s very well supported by the text, and yet the author almost certainly didn’t intend it. But tbh I just don’t think her intentions are any of our business. The text says what it says and now it belongs to us.

So I've been a new rockstars fan from the very beginning... I will continue to watch and support all your videos but I have to point out that it is a bit disappointing that corrections and comments are met with such aggravation from the team. Names, pronunciations and titles of things are given such importance because they do matter. When you don't pronounce something correctly, it can be interpreted for something else. While you live and breathe that material please keep in mind that there are people coming to it for the first time. And it matters to have it correct as much as possible. As someone whose name is hard to pronounce, it is disappointing to have to correct people more than once. That is why I'm a stickler when it comes to getting smaller details correct as much as possible. It's not meant with anything other than the atmos respect of love for your team and admiration for your hard work. We're just trying to also add a little something to make sure everything is correct but your contast annoyance at the audience is a bit much.
