HI! So the reason that Lily is different and her blood spell goes into place is because she was specifically offered to step aside (because Snape asked voldemort to spare her) since she specifically chose to die the blood magic locked in.
@ujamaa4Ай бұрын
That, it was the fact that she didn't have to die but chose to to protect her son that created the protection. It's the same reason that Harry was able to survive in the forbidden forest(because he intended to die for his friends, L'lily's spell continued for him)

The reason Lilly’s sacrifice is different to any other parent is the fact that she actually was given the chance to step aside and live, because Snape told Voldemort about the prophecy he begged Voldemort to spare Lilly (and only kill James and Harry) and Voldemort agreed - but Snape worried Voldemort wouldn’t keep his promise or that Lilly wouldn’t ever stand aside and allow her child to be killed. So Snape then panics confesses to Dumbledore what he has done and begs him to hide Lilly James and Harry. (To keep Lilly safe that’s all he cares about). So when Peter betrays them and Voldemort attacks he kills James, but offered Lilly a chance to stand aside so he can kill Harry - Lilly refuses and this is the sacrifice that creates the bond of blood protection. Because she was given the opportunity to stand aside and could have lived, but refused to do so and died protecting her son. Which is why no other parent including for example Neville’s mother could have created the bond of blood charm - if Voldemort had picked Neville instead .. because Voldemort only offered Lilly the chance to live at a favour to Snape.

38:05 I see love itself as the thing that defeats Voldemort and Harry & Snape are basically vessels for it. Lily chose to stand in the way to save Harry because she loved him. Snape’s obsessive (creepy) love for Lily is what makes him ultimately betray Voldemort and it even overcomes his hatred of James within himself so he protects Harry. I want to see the series show Snape as that yin/yang where he is a truly terrible person but he has this one pure kernel of love in his heart that almost against his will makes him the bravest anti-Voldemort character.

47:53 some people headcannon that Voldemort was already on his way to make a horcrux the night he killed Lily and James. We know you have to kill someone in the process. Voldemort has a horcrux relevant to the other three Hogwarts houses, so some people think that Voldemort was planning on making the sword of Gryffindor into a horcrux by killing Harry that night. (Maybe whatever spell or dark magic involved in making horcruxes was already active when he went to kill Harry) So that mixed with the blood/love magic allowed Harry to live + transferred the Horcrux to him (This might be a SuperCarlinBrothers video, though I could be wrong)

2 things on the blood magic Love defence for Harry: Harry is protected by his mother's love, as Dumbledore later explains but only specifically works BECAUSE Harry is the opposite of Tom/Voldemort Harry is the product of a happy family, Tom/Voldemort was the result of deceit and lies Voldemort does not and cannot understand love, he is its antithesis, he may also have been so vulnerable to its effects because of the other horcruxes and his fragmented soul

The reason Lily’s death works as a spell it’s because she had a choice. Snape asked Voldemort o spare Lily, he told her to step aside and she made the choice to shield Harry. So Neville couldn’t have been the chosen one because Snape wasn’t in love with Alice Longbottom and so Voldemort would never have given her the choice to live. Dumbledore mentions the magic of choice later again in relation to Harry’s mercy towards Wormtail. His mercy is momentarily mirrored in Wormtail at Malloy Manor and this causes his silver hand to turn on him. This sort of ineffable magic of compassion is Harry’s strength and Voldemort’s blind sight. If Lily had used a type of magic that could be learned from a book, Voldemort was such a student of magic that he might have been able to circumvent that kind of magic ✨

A super Carlin brothers theory ( I think ) …. They speculate that the reason that the blood charm of Lilys sacrifice is even viable and able to keep Harry safe for the 17 years is because of the fact that Snape went to Voldy and asked to keep Lily alive ( because he heard the first half of the prophecy ) while knowing he would condemn Baby Harry to perish. So Lily’s loving sacrifice is re-uped yearly when Harry goes back “home” during the summer at the Dursleys, because his “mothers blood” lives there. Which is why the Weasley’s “don’t” extended an invitation the first few years and that they went on a family vacation to Egypt before the 3rd year for Ginny and her trauma from the previous year ( the chamber ). They speculate that Harry could have gone to multiple other people but couldn’t because the bond of blood charm and why he couldn’t and why later in the series he spends less and less time with the Dursleys and more and more with the Weasleys ( i.e at the burrow and grimmauld place. )
@annestanle27 күн бұрын
Yeah it was Lilys sacrifice that was the ‘spell’, that guards Harry. As Dumbledore continues to say to Harry, love is the greatest magic. It comes up again in book 7, Harry sacrifices himself to save everyone in hogwarts and then Voldemort and his death eaters aren’t able to harm any of them. Harry points this out to him and tells him he made the same mistake again!

The spell is called The Bond of Blood and is like a part 2 of the original protection spell that protects harry from voldemort as a baby. When his curse hits Harry it rebounds and strikes voldemort as his soul split. Which is why voldy was in a spirit form. And Lilly is somewhat unique in her choosing to die for her child. But she's not the only one otherwise how would there be any info on what happened.

The books do explain Lily’s protection. James dies 1st, yet his death did NOT protect Lily & Harry, because Voldemort was going to kill James no matter what. But because Snape begged Voldemort to spare Lily, Voldemort gave her multiple chances to move out of the way. Because of Snape, Voldemort was going to let Lily live, and only kill James & Harry. But because she refused to move, she CHOSE to die, and that is what protected Harry. Just like Harry chose to enter the dark forest, Harry chose to not hold a wand, but just stand there and let Voldemort kill him, that is what protected everyone in Hogwarts (Voldemort’s spells were bouncing off everyone in Hogwarts after Harry revealed he was still alive). The choice to die for them, when you could choose to live instead.

I never understood why the Dursley’s never wanted him to go to Hogwarts. The books say Vernen don’t want to pay for anything for Harry. But it’s almost every year. I’ve wondered did Dumbledore place a spell that made them want him to stay with them, even though clearly they don’t want him, his life only got better after the Dursley’s were threatened. That said is easy to judge the Dursley family but if you had a sister you where a strain from and there a baby on your door step and he’s your responsibility, and you don’t really have a choice. Wouldn’t you if misplaced have a bit of anger at that. Then Duddlys tail removal, helped the situation.

My only problem casting a black Hermione is that this would contradict the book because there is a passage in Book 3 where it says "Hermione's white face". Obviously the show runners and JK Rowling can take some creative liberties. It's the question if they want to make a faithful adaptation or not. I personally don't consider the cursed child Canon so it does not really matter to me if Hermione in this play was black.
