Cop is absolutely raging this guy got away with 3 drinks

If you’re referring to the cop saying you could still get nicked if impaired, he’s not wrong. As the reporter said, he was not comfortable driving, he knew he was rather squiffy, and his words were slightly slurred. There is now a Field Impairment Test that can be performed by trained officers, and that is admissible in court. I, myself, process alcohol very quickly. A session over 8 hrs consuming some 24units of alcohol, I blew (on a personal device) 68 20mins after my last drink, and 23 90 minutes later. Another, may blow 50+ after just three pints and stay over for several hours.

@@Edvard.Munchkin nought to be proud of feller. I can manage at best, 3 pints, then switch to shorts & mixers or cocktails (some of my 5 a day right there, honest guv). My concern is, do you drive the morning after? I will ALWAYS test before driving the morning after a session, despite every test being clear when according to the average science, I shouldn’t be. The rule of thumb is (&this is not great advice, just a rule of thumb) you should allow 1hr per unit of alcohol consumed from the last moment you consume it. Lets say your pints are a lil weak, & 2 units per pint… 40 units, you finish at 2:30am Saturday night; you cant drive till 6:30pm Monday. Now, granted, the processing is an individual thing, such as me clearing tonnes in just a few hours, but potentially you could be the other side of the pendulum and not be fit to drive until Thursday!

The police must not use gloves in this case? 𝟯. Is there any manual I can read about the correct use of the alcohol test practiced by the police?

New straw every time. Opened from it’s packing in front of you. A good cop will open it in a way they don’t touch it, and fit it using some of the wrapping to handle while fitting. Basically, the test is easy, been tested a few times. They get it ready, inc your age, hold it while you blow, (it knows if you suck, and it knows if you’re holding back / not blowing hard enough), if you listen there’s a click when it has enough breath to sample. Fail that, fail to provide, or display impairment even though you blow below, you’re nicked & give two samples on a highly accurate machine back at the police station. Lower reading of those two, if both over, is used to prosecute.

It's odd that it doesn't give an exact number. Is this European or British standard as opposed to American standards?

I'm commenting 4 years after your question! But the info might still be interesting for someone. The device being used in this video is the Drager Alcotest 6510. It has two display modes by default, 'traffic' and 'airline' (for pilot testing). By default, in traffic mode the display is as shown here. It doesn't show a number, just a message indicating 'zero', 'pass', 'alert' or 'fail'. Calibrated at the factory for use in England/Wales/NI (Scotland has a different drink/drive limit) the messages correspond as follows: ZERO:

@@asmiffy1332 Hey! What breathalyzer would you recommend somebody in the UK buy for home use, that's accurate but not too expensive?
@paulcollyer801 Жыл бұрын
@@TheKingDies, it’ll depend on how often you’ll use it. The cheap single use bag & glass tube type are pretty accurate, so to speak. Failing that, you want one with a fuel cell analysis type testing part; they’ll need calibration, (mine is annual, the ones Police use my way is every 6weeks). An pretty accurate one will set you back £100+
