I've had slightly high BP for years, and recently got a BP as high as 150/95 or so due to stress and lack of exercise + improper diet. I started exercising a bit, cut way down on sodium/salt, adjusted my diet, and used this video after trying about a dozen others. This breathing technique and this music/visual cue has helped me relax and consistently achieve way better results than I do at the doctor's office (White Coat Syndrome gang, unite!). Over the course of about a month I've gone down from a height of 165-ish / 90-ish, down to as low as 101/66. I am not saying that THIS ALONE will suddenly "cure" your high BP - but it's certainly helpful in relaxing. I find it's best to use it away from stimulants (coffee etc.), and to go through this video 2-3 times before measuring your BP. Big thanks to Dmitri for sharing this with us. I've probably watched this 100x already.

I've been doing this breathing technique for two weeks and in that time I have tested my BP 28 times; twice in the morning and twice in the evening on 7 separate days. On only two occasions was my BP higher on the second reading, ie having done the 2 minute breathing exercise first. So I am cautiously optimistic! In most cases there is quite a substantial drop, tonight 153/103, then after the breathing exercise 139/92. So I intend keeping this up! Along with plenty of cycling and watching my diet. Thank you.

Thank you so much! This practice has made a dramatic difference to my experience of taking my blood pressure. Firstly it works! And secondly it has helped me get over my fear of taking it. I do the two minutes and then start taking my blood pressure while then distracting myself by listening to some inspirational podcast on my iPad. This seems to also encourage my breath to be more relaxed. After years of white coat hypertension even when taking my blood pressure at home I finally feel on the road to getting an accurate picture rather than just a fear reaction to the whole process. Thank you so much again, extremely grateful.

Your blood pressure is going to be very low DIRECTLY after doing these exercises because it is extremely calming and slows the heart beat a ton plus many other factors, so it is pretty much irrelevant what your BP is during and shortly after the exercise, and it only truly matters what it is at on a daily basis throughout the day as that is what your true blood pressure is... It's like if you took a drug and felt extremely calm and your bp was really low/normal, it is pretty much irrelevant, all that matters is what it is at on a daily basis.

Hi, thanks for your question. You see, slow breathing, especially slower and longer exhales are exactly the tools which tell the brain to release special elements into the blood stream to dilate blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure. I would recommend to practice a bit more and try to synchronise your breathing with the breathing circle in the video. Please share your progress in the comments here and let me know if it helps you. Good luck!

I’m going to tell you about five common ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen that can cure high blood pressure. 1) Pomegranate juice - This elixir has enough medicinal value to earn the name ‘wonder fruit.’ Scottish researchers from Queen Margaret University have identified how amazing it works for lowering blood pressure. 2) Celery - A recent study based in China, published by the National Institute of Health (NIH), hails celery as a great natural option for reducing blood pressure. More than 87% of the participants showed a reduction in blood pressure after consuming celery regularly. 3) Melatonin - It’s been used for years as a natural sleeping medicine with no side effects. But surprisingly, an Italian research study published in the American Journal of Hypertension shows it also brings blood pressure down while you sleep. 4) Hawthorn - Hawthorn extract and hawthorn berries have been shown to have very good blood pressure-lowering effects, almost equivalent to prescription drugs. The best thing about hawthorn is that it not only lowers blood pressure, but also strengthens heart muscles. 5) Quercetin - A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has reported that a 200 mg supplement of quercetin increased levels of nitric acid in the blood, thus dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. But we saved the best for last. The most effective, quickest and easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally are 3 easy blood pressure exercises. Click here : tinyurl.com/yy2443ya?

Hi, thanks for the idea! Will consider it. Meanwhile following just two words Inhale/Exhale on the breathing circle may work for those who do not speak English

Will try this! Blood pressure used to be normal until I got birth control and then I started running high. Just got it removed also experienced other side effects that probably don’t help). Usually now about 120-130/90. Hoping with this breathing and once the hormones get out of my system that it’ll be better

Im here because I just got back from the doctor's office where r my pressure was 188 over something. I just remember seeing that top number and was shocked. Btw I'm 33 so , I guess I need to listen to some ASMR or listen to " meditation music "
@BreathNow_app3 ай бұрын
Yes, short term slow breathing or calming music is likely to help. However for long term effect you should complement them with moderate aerobic exercise as explained in our app BreathNow

@BreathNow_app3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your feedback. Yes, you can do these breathing exercises any time when you want to calm down. In this particular exercise the exhale interval is just slightly longer than inhale. Please check other breathing exercises on my channel with different ratios between inhale and exhale. Stay healthy!

Hi, this exercise, like other calming exercises, produce only temporary relief. For long term effect you should complement calming exercises with easy aerobic exercises as recommended in other videos on our channel and in our app BreathNow. Please talk to you doctor how to best integrate these techniques into your overall treatment plan. Meanwhile please continue your medications as prescribed by your doctor. Wishing you faster recovery!

Hi, thanks for your question. This exercise has short term effect so it is a good idea to repeat it several times per day. For long term effect it makes sense to engage in other activities like walking, yoga and meditation. For sure you should agree with your doctor on overall treatment plan.

I can inhale for seconds but hiw can i exhale for seconds, once the air is out, how can I keep on exhaling?
@BreathNow_app Жыл бұрын
Please try to slow your exhale. The whole purpose of this exercise is to exhale slower than inhale. This will activate your parasympathetic nervous system and will make you more relaxed

Hi, you may want to try other exercises on my channel with different inhale/exhale duration. Some have voice prompts too. Important thing: exhales should be longer than inhales

My question is whether this is a temporary lowering of blood pressure or is it permanent if you continue to do the breathing meditation daily?
@BreathNow_app Жыл бұрын
Based on user feedback and my own experience most calming exercises (breathing, meditation, etc) provide short term effect on blood pressure. Which is already good but it is really just a 1st step in treating hypertension. For longer term effect one needs to exercise their cardio system in way that stresses it temporarily and ultimately makes it more resilient. I.e. IMST breathing, moderate aerobic exercise (i.e. brisk walking). Recent research has also shown that people with higher VO2max are able to manage their BP better. VO2max training is hard so anyone trying it should secure a permission from their doctor first. However VO2max can be definitely improved in elder population. I am approaching 60 and I was able to improve it by 10%+ in 6 months. This is what our 3in1 BreathNow program is about.

I could never match the inhale duration in the video, just counting to four, that was the max I could inhale in . Any suggestions?
@BreathNow_app2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your question. I would suggest to approach this gradually. The important thing is to try make your exhales longer than inhales. For example, count to three when inhaling, count to four or five when exhaling. Keep doing it for several minutes. Let me know how it worked for you
