You make me feel so much better, you have also inspired me to have bettas of my own (many betta fish tubers) I now have 4 bettas of my own! It’s been a few months and they are all healthy bettas. I have a female Sakura white halfmoon, cellophane male double tail, black crown tail with some really interesting silver stripes flowing down the tail, and my last one is a dumbo halfmoon mix, sadly he was already blind when I got him and hoped I could reverse it. No progress. But he eats okay I turn off the filter and tap the water when feeding then back to normal. Thanks to yours and others inspiration I got myself a 60 gallon long tank and I’m going to attempt breeding my crown tail male and my halfmoon female. Love your vids!! ❤

You still could! Some people don't drill tanks, they use overflows instead. There are DIY ways to do it from PVC parts

No, they will die in an aquarium. Microworms can be easily cultured in a container with some mashed potato mix. There is plenty of info on the internet for culturing live food.

Petco bettas look better than Petsmart ones but I've never been to Petco in person. Isn't it risky to breed chain pet store bettas with unknown genetics? Honestly not a fan of the breeding of betta splendens as it is but appreciate the breeders who do put care into the body form of these fish. Hope to see more wild betta breeding!

Idk if this is possible but a cool breeding to try is hybrids Bettas: for example Koi Betta x dragon scale Halfmoon x double tail Wild Betta x crowntail Crowntail x plakat Idk if these can breed together but that be interesting if they can

Halfmoon x double tail will result in major deformities such as extremely curved spines and weird jaws. Not to mention we shouldn't be breeding double tails due to their spinal issues. We should be focusing on wild betta breeding anyway as there is too many splendens looking for homes.

@@deandrewpowell Every single betta line has a problem, so really we shouldn't be breeding them. Dragon scales should stop being produced as they develop tumors and diamond eye the more heavier their scaling is. Nothing is easy when it comes to betta genetics.

Hi, I have a full moon blue Betta with black face. It was not making any bubble nest from the time I had it....about 2 months. I bought a female Betta which is white in color with blue and red spots. I kept them separately, conditioned the water, put leaves, good food, kept bubble wrap but still it's not making any bubble nest. Whenever I release the female, it flares it's gills and attacks the male. Its been 2 days since I keep them separated in same tank. Please advise. Should they be of same color to breed? What could be wrong? The poor male, retracts and flees whenever the female comes. But when I put the female separately, he always comes near to her and goes around the separated container while the female ALWAYS flares her gill... Please help, really sad to see this... 😢

Yeah would be nice if one could ever find a male betta that builds a nest. 6 months and over 30 attempts and only one nest and hence spawn, my females are bursting with eggs and no one i talk to has even the slightest idea why this is happenning.
