Breeding Leopard Geckos? Things to Consider!

Before you choose to breed your geckos, there are many things to really consider. In this video I go through just a few of the basic things such as health, money, space and genetics. There is so much more to it, so please do lots of research.

I've seen this all in one powder called Repashy Calcium Plus. Apparently it includes vitamins and calcium. I am wondering if I could just use this powder instead of two different powders.

I just obtained two for the first time leopard geckos, I purchased one and then I had a friend give me hers. After a while I realize my albino gecko is a male he is only about 6 months old, while my bigger female is 2 years old. I'm not trying to become a or have any babies, should I separate them? Or at a certain point of the year do I need to keep them separated because I don't want any baby leopard geckos. They seem pretty happy together I have a minute 30 gallon tank. Any advice would really help.

Well i remember when i first got my first male and female i put them together and they got along well after approximately 3 months, they started mating and all the eggs hatched except one that turned in to a raisin i got lovely babys, male is a Mack snow eclipse het tremper and female tangerine raider with red albino eyes .. since then i started to love geckos and now I've got a room in my house only for geckos only for them 🦎🦎 am thinking of getting and trying out Tokay geckos ik they bite and are aggressive before I'll do lots of research btw nice channel you've earned yourself a new subscriber thank you ..

It's a beautiful place, it sucks that there's no shows or expos, I will check those sites, but it's getting a bit late now. What I might do is, this year I may invest in great quality genetic geckos, then breed next season

Well, i want to ask a question. I have a male and female gecko that i'm planning on breeding when they are old enough but they are housed together because i got them when they were babies and to young to tell what they were. this is a good video, but the food amount that u said was very inacurate. an adult leopard gecko well eat maybe eat 15-25 mealworms a week, so no baby can eat 8 crickets a day, nor could an adult.

I've personally had enough experience and done research enough about genetics and breeding, and I've decided I will breed mine. Probably when my geckos are at least 4 years old. I know their genetics, and I want to give some of the babies to friends, while keeping some as well. We also plan on running an in-home leopard gecko rescue where we rescue leopard geckos off craigslist that look like they need some rehabilitation (that will be done before any breeding projects take place). We already breed our mealworms, so that will save us money; and we also plan on having an emergency fund of at least 2k before we do it. We plan on running potential adopters through an extensive adoption form, asking them how they would care for their gecko (substrate, food, if they'd cohab, prior gecko experience, etc) and we would also let our adopters know that if they cannot care for them any more, that they can return the gecko(s) to us and receive an adoption fee refund, no questions asked (so they don't ever end up in the wrong hands). It's a dream of mine, and I am so glad that soon it will be happening.

That sounds like an awesome plan! Although keep in mind that mealworms shouldn’t be a staple due to being so fatty and difficult to digest. Crickets, roaches, black soldier fly larvae, and silkworms are good staples.

Achak no, mealworms should never be a staple. They’re far less healthy than crickets. Feeding mainly mealworms could easily lead to obese geckos.

All this is honestly not that true. Breeding is a very easy process. Food isn’t that hard to come buy. Keeping your geckos in a environment that they can survive in should already be done, 4 females in a enclosure and one in a seperate plus you’ll be making alot of money if you can breed multiple and sell them.
