Truth! She is on a whole 'nother level! She did an interview with Russell Brand that was life changing for me. It's on KZbin & it's like an hour long but SO worth it!!

What I love about Brene’ here is that she didn’t turn her back on Ellen. In Atlas of the Heart she says “Nothing that celebrates the humiliation or pain of another person builds lasting connection”. You can see that there is a genuine connection between Ellen & Brene’ that’s beautiful. Life is hard enough…don’t hold onto negative emotion such as anger and resentment. It will darken your soul. 🌸

I love that she mentioned the correlation between anxiousness and excitement. As a child, I would become so excited for things that I would make myself sick. So for a long time excitement became a negative thing for me. Because I associated it with making myself ill.

My take on envy vs jealousy is that envy is wishing you also had something that someone else has, whereas jealousy is wishing that person didn't have whatever you covet.
@hwilcox2 жыл бұрын
in her series she talks about jealousy as loosing something when another gets what you perceive as yours. like your dog preferring someone else like your best friend not having time for you bc she is seeing a new guy envy is more covetting
@uhlsome27843 жыл бұрын
In Spanish jealous (celoso) and envious (envidioso) are already used in this way. Something somebody else has that you want "te da envidia" (gives you envy). But a jealous person is afraid of losing something (usually a person). A mom can be jealous of her son's girlfriend, not because she has inappropriate feelings for her son, but because she fears he will be taken away...

that's what I got from her show, agree

Thank you so so much dear Brené Brown for your wisdom and knowledge which has helped me so much. Please, do not think that i compete or i want to play with people. I am a simple woman, i really do not care about politics. Thank you so much for the right to look and listen to such huge personalities as Oprah Winfrey and Brené Brown.

I thought envy was a step beyond jealousy. I thought it was wanting to take what belongs to someone else. Whereas jealous was merely the desire to have what someone else has. Maybe both definitions are correct?

Jealousy is wanting something someone else has, that you will never be able to have. Like if someone has a child that is really clever. It’s not your child. So you get jealous about that child’s achievements. She’s so wrong.
@bree-arnaharris24373 жыл бұрын
No your envious because someone else has a child that's intelligent and you don't, your jealous if that somehow will impact you negatively like preferential treatment or higher in esteem that you perceive As a negative
