Yeah, I know the feeling. I actually owned a '71 Hurst Jeepster Commando and sold it a decade and a half back... Man...

Yeah, you got that right. Back in the early 90's when I started buying and fixing and driving jeeps I don't think that I paid any more than $500 for any of them, that included the Hurst, a complete '53 M38A1, a '64 CJ5 with a plow and my first a beat up old postal DJ5. Nowadays you're right, forget about buying something like those for less than a few grand... shoulda kept them!

And they should all still be built this way!

Based off CJ-8 aka extended jeep which became Scrambler in 1981. They got rid of that ugly classic front clip for that smooth and Bronco esque grille (eyeroll). One of the weirder Jeeps and seems to mimic the jeepster as if that was a good thing.

I suspect a Jeep Commando for a couple of grand would be a very beat up vehicle with not much but the frame. For one in great condition with good engine and drive train I bet 10-15 grand would be like it. But I can always go to youtube and watch videos and say to myself, "I used to have a Jeep and I used to do that, too!"

44sharpshooter I just bought a 1972 commando in very good condition, except for some body flaws on the right door and front fender for $4000 at an auction. You can get one for a very reasonable price.

@nekro99 Very true, there is just something about them that's timeless.

Well said. We're pretty far removed from the actual driving experience nowadays.

@nekro99 I had a 1969 Jeepster Com convertible with Buick v-6 that would go anywhere and look great doing it. Too bad I got rid of it 20 years ago. I was an idiot back then!

I had one also, yellow with a black soft top. Its grill made it a classic. Only trouble, mine rusted badly.

So now that it's too late, what if we wanted to buy one again today? That would mean some serious cash output. Many times more than what we sold them for years ago. Should have kept 'em. Sigh!
