FANTASTIC!!! It was mesmerizing to watch. I love how you began each step detailing what you're doing and the effect you want to achieve. Yet, we get to see the progress with the little 'jumps' you make in the video. I also learned how, when, and why to use a dry brush and the different effects that can be achieved. It was fascinating. I watched and was surprised at how many times I had to tell myself "Of Course"! It all made so much sense when you demonstrated it, even to this 73 year old who has the time and willingness but is only learning the basics. THANK YOU so very much! Incidentally, your calm voice that is so easy to listen to, also instills the patience needed to do such gorgeous and realistic art. Your English is also VERY good and easy to understand. @@brennerfineart This is great, I have attempted it twice but can not get the waves to look like waves. What is the trick there?
@brennerfineart2 жыл бұрын
@@user-fm9gc7dh8c The trick is to practice hard - you can not expect to get the same result without the adequate amount of practice. Just like anything else in life - if you want to master something it takes dedication and practice. One thing - just really try to follow me step by step...and really try to do the exact same thing. That is something that people very often get wrong...they THINK they follow a tutorial but they somehow "wander off"...just like when you try to copy a photo onto the canvas - stay as close as possible and try to understand whats going on. And you will pick up how to paint this topic a lot faster!

Thank you for sharing. You did very well on the waves. The reflection was good but I feel you over did in reflection. The other thing you did not separate distance in colouring the reflection. You did perfectly well on the waves both in use of colour to separate near and far. You are very good with painting water waves

Thank you :-))) The reference I used here is a close up shot of some surfers doing their "thing" in the waves - so there was no need for air perspective simply because there was not enough air between the front part of the painting and the back part. It basically is a close up shot and there is no need to put in any blue of the sky - this would give the false impression of a distance that simply is not there. And the reflections - I even reduced the amount of reflections that were on the reference material, believe it or not ;-)))) Please have a look at it and I think you will agree: www.pexels.com/photo/man-surfing-2495402/

Beautiful. Thank you for this lesson. Most don't understand that it's okay to take your time and it takes practice. A lot of practice.....which I learning at the time

Thank you :-))) Yes, learning to paint is like any other skill - it takes time to be developed. No one, not even Da Vinci, learned how to paint REALLY well over night. Patience and dedication...and then the sky is the limit!

The first one he shows is a photograph I believe, he based his painting off of it. I did the same thing, I sat there staring at the photograph in absolute awe trying to comprehend how that was a painting until I realized it was a photo for inspiration. The end result of the painting is still absolutely beautiful

Thank you :-))) But this here truly can be learned, a bit of patience and dedication is really all you need for this one! This is not a high end hyper realism stuff that requires a ton of technique...this is straight forward - give it a try (stay patient!!) and you will be able to do that in no time!
