You may not realize it, but the big white thing on the concrete pole is a tornado siren. The specific type is A P-50 / T-135AC. Anyway, nice video and glad to see safetran type 1s still around!

Thanks for sharing that info. I think all of us thought that was just a big floodlight.

I know I'm late on commenting. 2 of my most favorite hobbies in 1 video! Railroad crossings and the big whit thing that looks like a bucket on the pole is a rare ACA p50 tornado siren!

I dunno what bell is rarer, either Safetran Type 1 or Teardrop Bells.
@Computist406 жыл бұрын
+Ethan the Railfanner: Great question, but I would think the Teardrop bell, because the Safetran Type 1 didn't come out till 2001, but that don't really know for sure so don't quote me on that lol.

There is an ACA P-50 Siren right behind it on the pole it is the loudest siren in the world reaches 135 dB and the largest directional siren it is as tall as me and an adult can fit in it without bending down and the largest non directional or omnidirectional siren is the Sentry 40V2T it is way taller than me

Nice catch, Brenton, and thanks for sharing! New location, too, that I have not seen before. Looks like some sort of company yard in the background with the tall floodlight in the picture. And that vehicle leaving the yard timed it perfectly without having to wait for the train. Just so sad to see all the graffiti on the cars. I never saw that as a kid when I gazed at passing trains. And do you ever see any hobos on trains when you are filming?
@Brenton817 жыл бұрын
That's the police station, fire station and court building in the background. The tall thing is actually a tornado siren. The road kind of splits after the crossing so that's a public street and just some random car driving along. I've never seen a hobo personally but I have heard trains being stopped on my scanner so the police could arrest them.

LOL!!! I batted zero with all of my wrong guesses about this location and thanks for clarifying what everything really is. And wow, a tornado siren in one of your train videos??? That has to be a FIRST for you! I was really fooled on that since it looked like a floodlight. I have seen tornado sirens in Kansas but never one that looked like that. Also, I follow the "adventures" of two hobos on Facebook: "Shoestring" and "Brave Dave". (Both have had close calls of getting caught, especially the latter.)

@@Brenton81 I just saw this one again and really enjoyed it and all the VERY colorful "artwork" on many of the cars. I watch the interesting adventures of several hobos on KZbin but I NEVER would do what they do because not only is it illegal but it is also VERY dangerous. With that said, I still find their videos quite interesting.
