I remember seeing a rock doc about Poison on VH-1. The bassist was asked about criticism the band had received about not being particularly good musicians and that their success was more a result of their image and style than their musicianship. He gave the perfect answer imo, something like " I didn't come to LA to become a virtuoso musician. I came to become a rock star. And that's exactly what I did."

The song on the radio is KISS "I want to Rock and Roll All Night and PArty Every Day"...and some Poison/GunsNRoses history : Slash auditioned to be in Poison and he pretty much had the gig locked up.....the person to audition after him was CC Deville and as Slash walked past him in the rehearsal room he knew CC Deville would get the job because CC showed up all glammed out. Slash says in his book that he was almost the guitarist in Poison but wasnt too keen on wearing lipstick and glamming out and even though he knew he knocked it out the ball park and the gig was his, CC Deville was the better fit...PLUS CC came to the table with some songs he wrote in his previous band that he present to Poison and those songs were on the first album and one of them was "Talk Dirty To Me"...so there you go..Slash was almost the guitarist in Poison.

@tristramcoffin9263 жыл бұрын
The term 'hair band' was used to deride 80s hard rock by snobs who listened to what they thought of as serious rock music which when you consider that rock n roll was invented to rebel against your parents and is named after a euphemism for sex reveals those snobs long had lost the plot of what rock music is supposed to be about. What they term 'hair metal' had more in common with the original rock purpose than did their serious rock bands. Glam metal was supposed to be superfluous and disposable. It is because it didn't take itself seriously that it was fun in the first place.

I bought this album on cassette when it first came out and played the hell outta it. I was 13 and thought that one day I want to shred like C.C., not look like him, but shred like him. I took a lot of crap from my older brothers for listening to bands like Poison. My brothers called them “pansies” who could not compete with “tough” bands like Judas Priest (their favorite at the time). Well, I guess I got the last laugh! Anyways, I saw Poison in concert in 1990 and again a couple of years ago. C.C. shreds so much better now after becoming clean and I’d love for you to react to Life Goes On because that song shows what C.C. can really do. Funny to think that Slash auditioned for Poison but didn’t wanna join because of their insistence on Slash glamming it up. Slash was like, “F no Man,” and C.C. was like, “Hold my beer.” My favorite Poison songs are Life Goes On, Fallen Angel, Something to Believe In, Cry Tough, I Won’t Forget You, Talk Dirty to Me, Nothin’ But a Good Time, and of course Every Rose Has its Thorn.
