Casey probably gonna get with Sydney, Brett's gonna get with that new engine lieutenant, and they realise that they can't face seeing each other with other people and end up together. Reminds me of the Hallie-Casey-Gabby-Mills thing from waaaaaay back in season 1. Derek Haas has an unhealthy obsession with Gabby, and can't let her go. He's implied that this might drag out for the rest of the flipping season. This doesn't read to me as them abandoning Brettsey, this reads more as them trying to make an already too dragged out plotline more interesting.

I had a feeling that obstacles and distractions would be thrown in Sylvie and Matt's direction. What these folks need to do is have a mature conversation about their relationship. Sylvie has to find a way to overcome her insecurities about the ghost of Gabby and Matt needs to find a way to let that ghost go for good. But in the meantime... I spent a lot of this episode screaming at the TV. Mostly at Severide (Just tell Chief why you're backing off helping Stella! He can help!), but these two were rather frustrating to watch as well. I am pro-Casey going on a date with this lady, or any other lady really, since the last person he was really with was the hookup with Gabby (as far as we know). Lieutenant Handsome is essentially HazMat Zach (S6) so I don't know if I want Brett dating him be the reason that Matt resumes his pursuit...after she was the one who put a stop to them happening. /endofrant
