-Season 2 : Episode 53-
What started as an exciting day of pumping waves from Hurricane Epsilon, turned into a sheer carnage of heavy wipeouts, cutting my foot open, Supergluing it closed on the side of the road, and breaking boards. What a whirlwind of a day!

I'm not going to necessarily give you personal credit, but being from NC i might have been a bit jealous. I asked y'all to send some waves down PR ways, I did the the wave dance. Today, out of no where, the wind went off forecast and offshore and it happened, like really happened...prayers answered. So y'all must have sent them, thank you

I’m feeling the surf injury. Here in south Texas on 10/9 I went out for some hurricane surf as hurricane Delta hit Louisiana. Surfline called it 10-12 feet at my local break. Some bad decisions were made and I ended getting tossed into the jetties after an awesome left. I could’ve died but got away with a broken left foot requiring surgery and a steel plate and a couple broken ribs. On the mend for 3+ months. Looking forward to getting back out there and now have a story to tell. Keep the vids coming!

Wow that's scary! Ended up on an underwater jetty during paulette but only ended up with some gashes. Just butterflied them, put a waterproof bandage and wrapped it and I was all good. Hoping for a speedy recovery, stay safe out there.

@@natehawesvideo what’s crazy with my jetty encounter is when the wave was done with me, I’m laying on the rocks and didn’t know I was really hurt. I grabbed my board and jumped off the rocks before the next wave and paddled back out. I was sore and I was wearing low top booties Incase there was storm debris. The impact knocked me out of my booties. Anyway I paddle back out and try to catch another wave but couldn’t pop up, that’s when I realized my ribs were in bad shape. Caught a wave on my belly and took it to the beach, went to stand and couldn’t. That’s when I realized my foot was not in good shape. The story gets a little better, when I made the beach, I was on the wrong side of the channel. I had to hobble across the beach, over the jetty rocks into the channel, paddle across the channel, climb over the rocks on the other side and hobble to my truck. All this before 8am after my first and only wave that day. It was awesome but I paid the price. Crazy what adrenaline can do.

Cam has scored a couple of the best barrels I've seen on camera. One that will always stick out was his epic wave at Pipe where he had a suuuper long barrel that had like 5 telescoping sections. He held his line and sailed through a once-a-season tube

Rubbing alcohol then superglue and back in the water. It works great. Even on head wounds. The superglue wears off in a few days without sticking to the wound. I'll take a deep cut over a blowout shoulder any day.

I remember many moons ago at the lighthouse A guy came out of the water with his calf muscle hanging out sliced by his skeg . Like a knife going through butter . I use to find cleaner surf south of the point when things were distorted north of it . Usually the surf would be smaller but clean is clean . Foot gashes can be difficult to heal as your on them alot but it will heal given a bit of time letting it air out and maybe staying out of the water for a week . Good time to go fishing .

False... Most of the guys I surfed with don’t have four-wheel-drive. Also plenty of people come and score here don’t live here. To get the most out of all the smaller swells And mystic days, you definitely have to live here. for the best swells, they are pretty obviously forecasted. It’s why it gets so crowded here. I just work really hard to dodge the crowds sometime to sacrifice quality for quantity.

Brett, how do you deal with the fear of the board hitting you? I've never rly been scared of the waves themselves, or getting flipped/pounded on the shore (no reefbreaks yet, im a beginner).. but ever since I got a hard board it seems that I am extra afraid of catching a wave with a big drop.. With my soft (which I broke lmao) I'd go for almost any wave in any position without being too scared (obviously you sometimes are).. I'm surfing 3-4 footers at most atm and I feel that this particular issue will hold me back if I don't fix it early
