Best story about Dawkins I ever heard. Was Gary Papa the former local sports analyst who passed away of cancer. After a hard battle in a playoff game against the Giants Brian limped all the way up to the press box because he knew Gary was to fatigued to come to him. So he went up there for an interview and to give him words of encouragement an love.

everybody remembers the huge hits, last memory I have of him playing for the birds was at 8:39 of the clip against Pitt at home. Such big under dogs and such a low scoring game. claws out/flying squirrel/weapon X style strip sack on Big Ben. Typical game changer move for the legend.

Food for thought: Does any of this happen if Eagles never made the Superbowl? This is my personal opinion, but I feel like the Eagles MAKING the Superbowl had a hand in Dawkins getting selected for HoF this year. I could be completely off-base here, so don’t take it seriously. He has always been my favorite player because I played the position in HS back in ‘02. I just know it’s RARE for a Safety to get in at all, and John Lynch had already been chosen as a 1st-ballot. This would also include Terrell Owens being selected (although I’m sure the HoF couldn’t find any more excuses anyways). Howie/Lurie hire Doug > Howie gets Carson > Eagles #1 in NFC > Doug out-coaches Everyone > Eagles make SB > Dawk/TO announced to HoF > Eagles win SB > Dawk reflects on his entire life inspiring millions.
