I don't consider this a true deadlift. Since the weight gradually increases as the tires individually come off the ground due to the flex in the bar. Different than a traditional barbell and plate deadlift.

Hafthor ,brainshaw or etc no one was able to lift 500kg Except Eddie hall... that's why he holds the WR of 500kg and by the way u can also consider the above two comments 🤗

There are also 18 inch Deadlifts. The lower the bar height. The more difficult. Brian's Max weight at 9 inches is 1031 lbs.

Robert Rebholz I think its more about being an amazing show for the audience and being something that non-weight lifters can understand how heavy that is. For someone who is not into weight lifting, a 45 pound metal plate and a 100 pound metal plate look very similar. But a big truck tire, everyone knows that is "real heavy".

It's more of a spectacle lift than anything else, keep in mind at the end of the day the Arnold Classic is still meant to be seen as entertainment and impress an audience. He and other power lifters like him will still compete in traditional deadlifts and still go for world records, this is just yet another strongman event that keeps the sport interesting. The dude's still pulling half a ton, just in a different way. In no way is it any less impressive.

you also have to remember that Brian Shaw is 6'8". With the bar height up a few inches is the same as a 5'10" or 6'0" power lifter lifting an Olympic bar with the same weight. VERY impressive for Brian Shaw to lift that weight at his height.

@RigoOXx 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, and ir I am not mistaken Zydrunas Savickas did 550. BUT Brian's and Savickas's lifts were performed in this type of bar with these tires, wich makes it "easier" because: 1-The bar is higher, wich means less range of motion, and 2-The bar bends, so the weights don't come of the ground at the same time. If you look closely, the last tire doesn't come of the ground until Brian's hands are above the knees, so until that point he isn't technically lifting 511 kg. Edit : Savickas did not lift 550, it was the same as Shaw. I'm dumb :)

Because plates are harder to lift, there's physics behind this Basically plates are denser and their centre of gravity are very equal, while wheels will often bend and because of the bend, it will feel easier to lift the center of gravity off the ground, but the difference isn't that big tbh... Lifting 1128lbs of wheels is just as impressive as lifting 1102 of plates

+y3wtub3 Yes. there is a bend to the bar which in addition to how far out the tires go makes it a deadlift that gets progressively heavier as he reaches the end of the lift. This is somewhat easier than the standard deadlift which is why it is not recorded as a part of the standard deadlift world record. You can even find videos on youtube of him training for this lift with strength bands to simulate the increase of weight as the bar travels upward. To give you some perspective on the difference in difficulty between the two lifts, at the time that he did this lift his personal recorded best standard deadlift was 985 and the world record at the time was held by Eddie Hall at something like 1018 lbs. Brian has subsequently pulled what is the second heaviest deadlift in history at 1021 while Eddie Hall on the very same stage pulled 1026 lbs.

No, it's not the same, the range of motion is less, however, the bar bends when there's just that much weight on the bar, so it's not like he's using a cheap ass bar or something. There are deadlift bars which give a little whip, moreso than traditional stiff bars, he probably used the former.

For anyone who thinks this is fake just remember that science says our bones are 5 times stronger than concrete and bender than steel meaning they can bear a great weight before breaking. Also bone density is different for each person, that 180lb estimate is probably an average of many people. Not everyone has the genes to lift 500kg. Also don't forget some people have fast reacting muscles yet they lack In overall power ie sprinters and boxers( the speed is what really gives the power in boxing although overall strength does actually come into play) but deadlifters like this dude will likely have slower reacting muscles but he will use more muscle groups in tandem and with each muscle delivering more force over time hence he can achieve this amazing feat. Like I said before not every one is built to lift 500kg and plz don't be salty if you can't and instead want to call this "fake".

This is a hummer tyre deadlift and eddies deadlift was a conventional deadlift. Both different records and the hummer tyre is at 15 inches which makes it slightly easier and the bar has a lot of flex so the fourth tyre takes a while to leave the ground.

height mostly, the tires on the sides are only lifted like a foot off the ground while the bar is 4 feet up, compared to plates where the bar has much less give so all the weight is at hip height not just the middle part.
