Beach day for my friend Jess and I is waking up at 11:00 AM and deciding it is beach day, and then we leave at 2:30 because we went for "extended brunch", and then get there at like 4:00 because we went for coffee somewhere. Then we sit on the beach for 20 min and tell ourselves "well we better make the most of what we have left!" And then it starts raining so we drive back to the city and go for dinner to talk about our "fun day at the beach."

I went to the lake last weekend (too far from the beach) and the whole time my husband and I kept yelling "Beach day!" as we threw our stuff around. We discovered the details work for other bodies of water: getting cash, buying random accessories, feeling exhausted the whole time, kinda bored, then pride in the accomplishment.
