I had to replace the straps on my 2008, I just used a bolt that was maybe an inch or 2 longer from Home Depot with a lock washer and that worked just fine and the straps are nice and tight just as they were from the factory. I may just redo it again with a stud and bolt and lock washer from Home Depot.

The bolts are designed to break off after torque as the older versions would pierce the tank in an accident, great video.

We pulled all that junk off because all the fuel injector hoses under the unit were leaking, so we changed the car, (89 crown victoria wagon) back to carburetor. So we took the electric pump out of the tank and threw it away. Now it pulls gas out the tank with a 12 volt pump mounted on the frame to the carb like it should.

Do you know if the 86 ltd crown victoria 5.0 has two fuel pumps, low and high?
@uncommonsense40599 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a lot more, plus they have to order it, NAPA had these in store.

studs break off for safety.. if in a accident the studs wont puncture the tank. you can buy replacement studs at the dealer.

Bypass the stealer just use a longer bolt from napa or home hardware
@uncommonsense40599 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian. Not sure how much the u-bolts, washers, etc. cost you, however, NAPA part #600-3231 (longer studs w/nuts) worked perfect for me, for @ $13.00. It's also put back exactly as it came from the factory.

How u get tha top wire loose
@davidlaramore93454 жыл бұрын
@@mikeclark9822 the wire connector is located on top of the frame in the right rear wheel well. Use a long flat blade to get it loose.

Hey Brian, I own a 08 Ford crown Victoria police interceptor and I just got my fuel pump replaced but now my gas gauge still reads on empty and I have an evap code p0453. Your video may have given me the tip to fix the evap problem but still can't figure why the gas gauge isn't responding. Any advice?
@bfrance20026 жыл бұрын
I wound check wires and maybe bang on the tank to free up the the float. If you have the old one it might have a good sender unit. You could plug it in the wire, move the float around and see if the Gage moves.

Why didn't you get some new bolts?
@JohnDoesGarage9 жыл бұрын
You can buy the pump separately. About $60 from RockAuto made by Airtex. Why would you do all that when you can just buy a new stud and replace it? Also, you don't have to take the tank out to change the pump.

before a guy becomes an engineer for a car company, it should be REQUIRED they have 5 years experience as a mechanic...seriously...theyre the main reason mechanics swear more than sailors. lol

I believe the tank is installed to the frame of the car before the body is installed...its all about the assembly, making it easier is more important than service.

You dont have to pull the tank i just did one the other day it took me an hour of laying on the ground.. All you do is let the suspension drop out and that gives you more then plenty of room o and you have to pull the pass rear tire off

Other vedio's I've watched said it's NOT nessassary to drop the tank to replace the fuel pump. That eliminated the first quarter of this film

Its supposed to be a kind of white noise to help you focus on what they are saying more easily. Most of the time it works well, until some douchebag has the volume cranked really high, or its some pop song that causes more distraction.
