More info on his eyes as you saw, that glowing golden eye represents the system supporting the player, in a movie down the line its been explain more how a Will of someone can break the boundaries of the game and then will earn support from the system, something like that. My opinion watch the movie outside of youtube, would be bad to make a hour reaction video lol

Great job figuring out that Kayaba's mysterious congratulatory message to both Kirito and Asuna where Asuna didn't even duel him. According to SAO wiki, the moment Kayaba disabled his immortality, he also disabled the mechanism that triggers the NerveGear to destroy the brain of the player when he/she is dead. Kayaba wanted to talk to Kirito and Asuna after the battle, so he didn't let them die. He wanted to see the sheer will that can defy the system which made Asuna move. Kirito also showed that will at the end of the duel. It's a disappointment that the anime cut too much inner monologues. Kayaba then created a special space above Aincrad. As the reward of clearing the game, they get their lives back. Asuna got sparred because Kirito requested Kayaba to not let Asuna suicide, if you remember. Also Kirito's eye turning yellow is an anime original customization which isn't available in the light novels. The yellow eyes symbolize his going all-out in a simple sentence. This is referred to as fandubbed Kirito God Mode. Expect this phenomena in some situations throughout the series.

it's never revealed even in the latest arc where kayaba is still relevant, that sentence in the wiki is probably due the first run of the anime in the japanese tv, the text of him disabling the immortality was wrong, they corrected it later in the bd. i'd like to believe that kayaba was the one pulling the plug to each death in sao

2 very important things for you: 1st) Many people misunderstood what happened in this episode. Kirito didn't revive, he just used a special system included in the world to delay the moment of his death. That feature is called "The Incarnation System" and it is tied to the willpower and the imagination of each player. That system will become extremely important in Season 3 (Alicization) Sadly, in this episode the anime adaptation didn't properly explain the things related to that system (in the novel is better explained, though) Keep that name in mind for the future (The Incarnation System) Of course, since he was not dead (Asuna was not dead either since she was using the same system and remained under its effects, that was why she could move despite being paralyzed) once he killed Kayaba and cleared the game, he saved himself and Asuna from dying. A previous example of The Incarnation System was seeing in episode 10 when Asuna moved insanely fast to be able to reach the place where Kirito was in order to save him, despite being in the Brotherhood Headquarters when she noticed something was wrong. That speed was simply not possible by normal means in the game. Again, that was explained in the novel, but the anime adaptation didn't mention it. 2nd) I really hope you keep watching this anime since its best season by far is season 3 (Alicization) many people drop it before reaching that point and that is really sad because they miss a great arc. So if you are really watching it all, keep in mind that the proper moment to watch the movie Ordinal Scale is after finishing Season 2 (once the Mother's Rosario arc is finished) and before starting Season 3 (Alicization).

Sequence of that last move when kayaba was about to kill kirito was a bit out of sequence in the anime compared to light novel making it confusing for anime watchers. Here's what actually happened: 1. After breaking his sword Kirito saw Heathcliff's sword coming towards him 2. Within a fraction of second kirito imagined what would happen if that sword hits him (thus imagining his death) 3. Ausna jumped to save kirito.

It never really sat well with me that the story seemed to bend its own rules keeping Kirito alive--even though I very much wanted him to survive... but it just struck me today: they already gave an explanation because the healing item from the Christmas even could revive someone within 10 seconds. Which means there is at least a 10 second delay from an SAO death, and your death in the real world.

To understand that scene you should have seen the final of the alfheim arc (the kayaba talking to kirito when he is in the world three) and the alicization (the underworld is based in aincrad, and incarnation is something that is in aincrad (but it is implicit. you can se the incarnation in the eyes of kirito and when he went “outlive” in the fight against kayaba, in the Alo, in ggo, in alicization...) the incarnation is more explained in alicization, but you have kayaba saying that the human will can overwrite any sistem (the power of kirito s feelings made his wish, “not yet” became true) As same as asuna “breaking” the paralise spell, her feelings for kirito made her be able to move and save him

the resurrection crystal was never used, allowing each player that died a period of time before the nerve gear killed them IRL... which is how Asuna was not dead yet and gave Kirito the time he needed to "overcome the nerve gear"

To believe that Kirito accidentally saved Asuna's life by requesting Heathcliff to avoid her from killing herself. He wasn't planning to kill Kirito during that fight, he was inmune to die during the whole sequence, and Asuna became inmune right then. After all, Heathcliff himself said he believes that Kirito is the one chosen to beat the game.

People criticize this show a lot for Kayaba never having a motive for creating the SAO death game. But I understand why. He wanted to escape to another world. One where he could watch over a portion of humanity and determine human potential. It had just been so long since the days he had dreamed of creating an ideal world. Plus, with all the deaths and real sadness going on in this virtual world, he began to question why he even wanted to create Aincrad in the first place. I'd say that makes him an interesting character.

My theory is that the reason why Asuna was able to move and how Kirito was able to remain after being killed is because of Yui. After all, Yui was in Asuna's Inventory, and when Asuna died she moved over to Kirito's Inventory.

Watch Grimgar Ash and Illusion or Log Horizon next after SAO. Both are stuck in a video game world anime, and are really good. GA&L: is a very realistic intense combat anime. LH: is using loop holes in the game mechanics, and politics (the good story kind of politics) anime.

You can see in alicization too that the thing happened to kirito its referred to the soul and the Will. I should explain this cuz 90% of people watching it doesn't get it. When Kirito's HP dropt to zero we have seen the text "You are dead". That is what Kirito sees. Then Kirito falls and resurect himself. But that scene was only his imagination (to show he is not going to give up) . Then we see he is just starting fading, like every one before they vanishes. While he was in this state he managed to strike down Kayaba. That is what happend. He don't have hax mode or anything in this game 😉 (sorry for bad language skills)

The reason why kirito still move even he's HP drop to zero bcuz of The item were give him to klein when he want Sachi to Revive back but the item is effectively in 10secs after of death so and that time klein use the item to kirito to give him a chance to fight back..
