On another note I have a theory that the King of Ashes is actually Silica from episode 4. Unrelated, but in the original series Kayaba was meant to be the final boss in the Ruby Palace on the 100th floor, the true final boss was cut from the game before launch for being too overpowered. Asuna’s “I know” at the end is honestly such a masterpiece of storytelling. It’s a reference to Star Wars, which Han Solo says to Leila after she confesses her love to him moments before he expects to be killed. While it sounds arrogant and cold, in the original context it’s usually interpreted as a moment of genuine vulnerability from someone who has spent their whole life guarded against showing affection or emotion. They want to say “I love you” back, but don’t know how to show affection like that so they instead show that they understand and accept the other person’s love, even if they can’t express themselves that way. The obvious parallels between Han and Asuna’s character arcs is one thing, but it carries even more weight *specifically* because she’s also communicating her love by appealing to Kirito’s love of movie references. It also serves as a major benchmark for Kirito’s character arc as well. His whole arc was about overcoming his narcissistic tendencies to be able to connect with others, which the way he condescendingly lorded knowledge over others was a part of. It gave him something to feel smug about when he dropped a reference nobody else got, and gave him a lot of parallels with Kayaba. They bonded over their shared contempt for “normal people”, but Kirito severed that connection when he grew enough to be able to empathize with others, which is why the killing blow is dealt alongside a failure of understanding of the Mythbusters reference. Then, as Kayabe struggles to reconnect with him at the end, Kirito brushes him off and focuses on Asuna who then drops that line. It’s such an amazingly cathartic moment.
@stitchesbunny84962 жыл бұрын
great breakdown. thanks for putting all this in words. as a side note though I would mention, kayaba sorta got the reference. So in the actual show (and it’s been awhile since I watched it so feel free to correct me) the boss fight took out over half their people. The realization hit that there were still 25 floors to go and the boss monsters were only going to get tougher and chances were none of them were getting out of this game alive. Also in case anyone is wondering why Kirito can use Asuna’s sword remember Married players share inventory.
@Matej_Sojka2 жыл бұрын
Actually there was extremely hard boss on floors 25, 50 and this one 75, with Heathcliff supposed to be level 100 boss revealed to be the traitor for drama´s sake. Problem was that from level 74 teleport crystals no longer functioned in boss rooms so whoever went in, and we are talking "Clearers", the absolute elites here, would likely die without being able to scout the boss and his abilities first. That was the whole problem Kirito tried to solve by power leveling his guild to the point they were in floors they did not have the practical experience to handle, even if they had the level for it. The number of people on front lines was shrinking heavily, while a lot of players stayed on first floor doing basically nothing (which Corvax and Thinker tried to fix by rejoining the front lines after their group was massacred on floor 25, only to be massacred scouting floor boss 74 as that one was first with no teleport allowed) and majority of players was just screwing around waiting for Clearer players to finish the game for them. Oh, and Laghing coffin and other psychopaths after them got off on killing whoever possible so the number of use-able players got down even more. The anime really failed to get across just how screwed up the psychological situation was among the players of SAO. I mean, Asuna, who was overachiever even in real life fell in love with Kirito because he was the top ranker who told her to chill out. SAO is by no means a masterpiece, or revolutionary literary work, after all it was first seriously published work of Reki Kawahara, but I appreciate it from the point of view into how would deadly isekai situation affect people in it. Log Horizon is also great in this aspect, difference is there are hard core gamers involved there who enjoy that sort of thing and take charge. SAO anime does not even deal with the politics of solo players who leveled quickly but often died without support vs guilds who tried to recruit them due to their power, but really did not like them due to their unwillingness to cooperate outside of boss battles. Or information market which played a significant role in what Kirito was doing the whole time. The book was interesting and engaging while it could be better, but the anime was just a sad disappointment. The first season of abridged was awesome fun, but it went downhill from here, I just cannot get behind the abuse of the main character from now on. We saw him being intelligent and he suddenly grabs the idiot ball and no one lets him forget it.

Each time I uploaded it KZbin would spend close to 2 hours each time deciding if it should be blocked or not…. It would then give me like a 10 second segment of video was causing the video to be blocked. I would then have to go and blur that section of the video and the render the video and upload it and have KZbin check it again. It would then get blocked for a different segment that they didn’t tell me about the last time. That on top of the all of the other videos I have to edit and render and upload as well. People are going to complain about the blurred sections as if I’m the bad guy for blurring them without understanding why I had to. I’m frustrated, I’m tired, and I’m upset. Thank you for watching and supporting

@@theduckgoesmoo With all that, you deserve yourself a nice good rest. Their opinions aren't going to matter anyhow, no matter how much they complain. This was SAO Abridge's Climax episode (that's what she said). They are going to watch it anyhow. You did the best you could for this episode, and that's that matters in the end. All your hard work helped you get back from YT getting your channel terminated without giving any reason. We appreciate all your hard work you been putting in your channel! I don't have any friends who watch the same stuff as I do (that's what I get for being a former pro wrestler, a single father of one, a guy in his 30's making Tik Tok videos lol). I have to admit that if I was in a real life SAO like Asuna and Kirito,......I would also try to set other players on fire........ and I would not stop trying until it works. I mean come on,....it's the first full dive system and game,it clearly has some kinda interaction with the human brain, and so with enough focused thought or some crap, telekinesis might be possible even if not intentionally programmed into the game. Everyone is free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

They did actually die; in the beginning of the next episode when they mention that no one died, theyre making fun of what most fans said when the first arc of the actual show ended, as they didn't understand how the story would continue without them being trapped. Around 40% of the 10000 people trapped in SAO died.

"Your tutorial NPC is nowhere to be found." That's because he was forcefully recruited into the guild Kirito first joined. The NPC that said: "Remember, to jump, jump." And the janitor that Kayaba was talking about, Reki is the original creator of SAO. Edit: Also that "I love you" "I know" moment, is another movie reference. One of the Star Wars movies.

What's even funnier is that the reason so many people died is bc the tutorial NPC was taken by kirito's guild. And then died bc Gary teleported away with all the crystals bc he had to "SAVE MY FAMILY!" 😂

i never viewed the fact that krito "breaks the game" or that kayaba "doesn't remember" anymore, as a bad thing, firstly the game's fucntions are all based on your BRAIN doing all the lifting, your not holding a controller, your not using motion controls, even though you ARE moving around in the game it's all your brain doing the work, so it could stand to reason that the brain, which is not entirely consisting of numerical concepts like a computer, COULD potentially over-ride the game, wouldn't be the first time a coder has made something in the code to break the game, as for kayaba's "i don't remember anymore" he actually bring it up in the light novels, stating he wanted to make a REAL world, and part of making it real was adding death, because he wanted to give all the life afirming aspects of the world more meaning, like in fight club to quote brad pitts character "tomorrow, his breakfast will taste better than you or i could ever imagine", like the old saying goes, "if it werent for rainy days, you wouldn't know what a sunny day was" also wanna point out the anime leaves a TON OF SHIT out that the light novels go over, such as mechanics, how the game world is linked to the brain, how the brain linked to the game world effects the world itself, etc, basically explains how kirito can overwrite the game with his "emotions" since those are still hightened brainwaves, etc,

Makes me giggle still but I can never un-hear it now. I learned about it from one of SWE's Convention Panels. But I LOVE that it was actually: || No Pod is worth two slaves! I'll never forget how PISSED i was when Kaiba said "He FORGOT the reason why he started all this". The fandom was considerably upset to say the least. Hell the only reason SAO is as popular as it is is because it was the start of the POWER FANTASY trope that now permeates a ton of anime to this day thanks to SAO.
@navifairy62872 жыл бұрын
While the abridged series might of turned this into a season finale, this technically isn't one. This episode adapts the events of episodes 13 & 14 of the first season. The first season is actually 25 episodes long and this is only the end of the Aincrad arc, though I could see how you would mistake it for such. SWE hasn't even started on season 2 yet (24 episodes). I never got around to finishing season 3, which is 47 episodes.

i think asuna's "i know" line to kirito saying i love you is a movie quote from star wars where leia says "i love you," to Han Solo, and he responds "i know." funnily enough that line comes full circle in the following movie where the exact same exchange takes place with Han saying "i love you" and leia saying "I know."
