LEGO City Platform Coverings & Building Facades

In this LEGO city update, we make 8 platform coverings and 2 facades. When placed in the city - they look great! The platform that spans 200 inches is nearly covered! It is incredible how many parts the coverings consume... but let me you - they look fantastic. So we still have to build some custom platform coverings to accommodate things such as tunnels, stairs, the amusement park, etc. Plus we want to cover the back wall with more facades!

The only thing that I don't really like about the new platform setting is how square-ish and unnatural the mountain looks, although I imagine it will look better after adding details, slopes and the trail access.

I love these videos where you update us each day. It allows me to experience building a giant lego city without actually doing it myself. It's great that you add in the trials and tribulations. I think the mismatched greys for the facade rocks actually looks pretty good - at least on camera. It helps break up the uniformity of rock colors.

i do like the addition of the mountain, which i was probably one of many who suggested it. i think the other ninjago building would look better on top of the mountain than the smaller building there now

Can't wait for the mountain facades! I know it'll be a part and labor intensive, but I think that a few big mountains with a "BRICKMONTON" sign on the mountains would be sick! Similar to the "HOLLYWOOD" sign in the Hollywood Hills. You could also tape black Construction Paper in the back of your building facades to black out the windows so the white wall doesn't show through. Just some ideas that I think would make the Lego City pop 😁👍

The road leading under the platform by the amusement park would be a perfect place to have a fake tunnel with Road runner and Wile e Coyote. Could also be a photo opportunity for Minifigures going to the park

You could create a car parking place at the pier and have a car meet at that parking space. Also this looks amazing already, just by watching you I started building lego again to like the McLaren F1 car

Great progress Jordan! I didn't think the facades wold look as good as they do so I'm very glad to be proved wrong. Good work with all the repetitive wall building, looking forward to seeing the tunnel entrances and stairs, will add a lot more interest and variation to that long section. Still think a small cave on the side of the mountain with water trickling out would look great too!

I thinks is too heavy to see the “Mountain”. You can better integrate the mountain with the ninjago house, for example by putting sharp rocks touching the house. So it becomes more organic

Looking good man. Solid effort getting the platform coverings done. When you do the tunnel ones where the roads go are you just gonna have a black wall so it looks like a dark tunnel but cars won't really be going in as that's where the train track is 👍🏻

Would you consider creating side facade for some of the modulars that have a flat edge exposed (ie Assembly Square) so you don't see the weird colour patches on the side of the coffee shop, and can do some potentially nice rendering to cover it up?

Like a skyline with clouds and stuff would be sick. Just like a huge sheet of paper or cardboard that gives the illusion of a sky. Then he could have biplanes, airplanes, hot air balloons, and blimps scattered along the wall, giving the illusion that they're flying!

The white façade is too tall and white for the end but would do fine if it was moved over and surrounded with more color.

I think the mountain is too uniform in height... I think it would be better if it could incorporate things like Spring Lantern festival at a different height. Real mountain have a bit more variation in their height.

How do you manage to keep dust off on your lego city and your other lego sets?

He has air purifiers set up in the Lego room. It doesn't keep all the dust away, but manages to keep most of the dust off the Lego sets and the City. Every now and again he and Mrs. Bricksie go around and do some dusting. I know Bricksie didn't answer you himself, but that's honestly the gist of it. Hope this helps
