I dont necessarily think that their fiances agreed with their ideology that they need cosmetic surgeries and procedures in order to be worthy. I think that these women have mental health issues that include major trauma and insecurity, and their fiances / soon to be husbands love them and just want them to be happy... whatever that may entail. I have never had cosmetic surgery, but I have had procedures at some points in my life when I felt i needed it and my boyfriend just wants me to be safe. That being said, I would NEVER go to these lengths. Boundaries and security within yourself is important. Everyone has flaws. Its unavoidable. Even when all procedures are said and done. YOU have to live with yourself and still have to learn to be happy with yourself. You'll always be both beautiful to some eyes and maybe ugly to others, but you cant let that shape your self image. @@ifwecouldvote what an insensitive thing to say lmfaoo, yes you’re right that anyone willing to go through surgery solely for cosmetic reasons is definitely insecure, HOWEVER being insecure enough to want surgery doesn’t mean you’re into celebrity culture, easily manipulated by trends or superficial. Many people think about it carefully for years and years before they decide to commit to getting plastic surgery. Also a lot of conventionally unattractive people are insecure because they are bullied and treated worse compared to conventionally attractive people, so they’re not insecure about their appearance because they’re superficial 😐

@janayahbug1172 жыл бұрын
when you do beauty pageants, especially from a young age… its really hard to stop comparing yourself to everyone and everything. these women unfortunately carry that competitive energy everywhere they go, long after the names are called and the trophies are won. its really sad.. being beautiful really has nothing to do with conforming.. quite the opposite actually & i hate how long we’ve let that confusion fester
@carolinecrigger95252 жыл бұрын
I think the constant comparing yourself to other women and people valuing you for your beauty would definitely contribute to insecurities especially as you age. Your beauty and persona are your "talents" and the thing you're competing with and the need to constantly improve and be the best has been ingrained into beauty queens usually from a very young age unfortunately. Being a girl just living is often already like that but adding an actual competition with crowns and trophies on top of that would definitely have ruined my perception of myself. A family friend is an ex-Miss America and she has had a lot of work done despite her being out-of-this-world beautiful even now in her 50s (she's also a judge so honestly an all around 10/10).

The thing that struck me with these shows was how in the end, after all that work, they all strangely ended up looking exactly the same. And there was nothing wrong with them in the first place. Not just because clubfoot is unsightly, but imagine if you were marrying a woman you believed would never be able to walk, then on day the day of your wedding you got to see her walk (for the first time!) down the aisle! But nope. It's normal people who have been gaslighting into believing they need cosmetic surgery to be "better".

Dude this is so sad man. I had an ex who was so insecure yet she was so fucking beautiful. She had an eating disorder before we met and I tried everything I could to help her feel beautiful in her own skin. I did everything to help try and change her diet and over the two years we were together no matter how many compliments no matter how many times I tried to even help her gain some weight. She was 5"2 less than 100 pounds and all because of these crazy fake bodies and photo shopped people all over social media she never loved herself. She has the cutest most perfect nose but wanted to get a nose job. It's was so painful to watch the love of my life who would cry in my arms saying that she is fat and she just wanted to change everything in her body. I wish everybody would love everything about themselves. Fuck what you see on social media or television's or magazines. It’s crazy! They put beautiful women on television calling them ugly and highlighting everything that makes them unique to get rid of/change it. I can’t understand that guy seeing a roomful of perfectly normal women beautiful in their own ways and wanting to make them all look less like themselves and more like an imagined ideal of beauty. I don’t have a problem with elective surgery but I definitely don’t trust surgeons who make a career out of telling normal people they’re flawed. If nobody has “flaws” - bigger noses, flatter boobs, more stomach rolls, creases in their skin - then what’s the point in being different people? My favorite thing about humanity is finding beauty in people we love. Regardless of what the beauty/cosmetic surgery industry and reality television portray, beauty is different for everyone. And normal people are beautiful!!

People should be able to do what they want BUT they shouldn't be pressured in to wanting to meet societal beauty standards in the first place. People can do whatever they want, but it's sad when they do it "for the wrong reasons" (generally societal pressure, sometimes pressure from friends or even partners). Same with plastic surgery, if someone genuinely really wants it for themselves then go ahead, your body your choice, but it's so sad how many people feel the need to do it to fit certain beauty standards or whatever, that they feel there's something "wrong" with them
