Story 1:Some people want revenge and others want peace. The only thing that I dont agree with OP is if Rachel has something that could end her job and if its a real problem where people are at risk or something bad (must be for her to 100% certain to end her job) then she needs to do that. If the bridezilla has committed HIPAA violations and Rachel has proof, bridezilla's career is over. Medical admins do not fool around with that.
@terramarini6880
@terramarini6880 Жыл бұрын
She is telling people in the friend group about SA/abuse he endured when young that he confided to her with expectations of privacy (why he was in the group therapy where he met OP) That is absolutely a HIPPA violation if she is a nurse. And Rachel already has that in text form, she already has the ammo she needs, the choke point is "does Ryan want to revisit the trauma in court to nail her to the wall?" It is he that will have to press charges, not Rachel, she is just a witness.

While OP has every right not to be involved and to tell Rachel, "I don't want to know anything about this if you choose to do something," if Rachel knows/has proof of Bridezilla doing something that could be career ending, she should ABSOLUTELY report it. The woman wants to be a nurse, and she's treating the people around her this way? Hell, no. Cost that psycho her "career"!
@Bonaduece

THIS! It's so hard to actually end a nursing career, anything that's bad enough to do it, should be reported. My ex stole medications from dementia patients who wouldn't be believed when they complained they weren't getting their pills. She was caught. She still works in nursing.

I once agreed to make the bridesmaids for a friend/colleague. I’m a skilled hobbyist not a professional but it was a simple design that I’d made a couple of times already. I knew I was taking on a huge job but her mum (who would have made the dresses) had recently died and they didn’t have a lot of money. It was an absolute nightmare. She bought the wrong fabric so I had to change the design. Then she kept coming up with new ideas like hand sewing fabric roses on the hems. I admit that I tolerated way more than I should have but I didn’t like to let her down. In the end, the dresses were the worst things I’d ever made. One of them didn’t even fit properly because the bridesmaid lost a load of weight at the last minute and I didn’t have enough time to properly alter the dress. Never again! The only dress I will ever make for another wedding is my own daughter’s.

S2: "She says I'm being a dick for holding something that happened years ago over her." That's a common excuse for people who do poorly and don't want to apologize (let alone change the behavior): "You're still mad about THAT?! That was in the past!" But 1) it's NOT "years ago," is it? Because she has been treating you poorly ever since she found out you made the dress for your wife. 2) Of course you're "still" upset about it: She never apologized, made reparations, OR stopped the behavior. NTA. Very similar to "Don't bite the hand that feeds you," Don't treat someone poorly and still expect favors from them.

This is no friend of OP's. This is a very selfish, toxic woman-child who clearly expects OP to be a doormat. 🙄 OP needs to cut ties with this brat and Ryan might want to think twice before he marries her. After Update: I'm so glad OP cut ties with Bridezilla. Good riddance to bad entitled rubbish. I'm also very happy Ryan dumped Bridezilla. And good for Rachel for wanting to purge the group of toxic friends. Toxicity shouldn't be welcomed into a group of friends. And it's clear that OP's mom have grossly failed her in terms of being a parent and having a loving and healthy relationship with others, considering what OP said. 😒 In any case, I'm glad OP and her true friends are all getting away from the toxic trash. ❤ And OP was kinda like me. However, at their scorching outdoor summer wedding all 6 pink stretch VELVET bridesmaids dresses, had their satin lining hanging down below the hem. 😲 it looked awful. If you do it, have an attorney write up a contract & make her sign it. & get it notarized. She’s wanting an almost free dress. She thinks she’ll get a $2,000 -$3,000 + dress for $1,000 or less. NOPE! You’re a designer/taylor & will charge accordingly. $4,500 at least. The goal is to make it more convenient & cost effective for her to just buy one. There will be no copying of designer’s dresses. There will be no beading, no sequins, no fringe etc… She purchases all materials. (She’ll get any leftovers) She must pay 75% up front in cash. She gets ONE design change which must be done xx number weeks before wedding. There are xx number of fittings. You, the taylor, are not responsible for any fluctuations in weight of the bride. You will only do measurements, fittings etc with two witnesses aka assistants present. Of your choosing. All transactions, fittings etc are final Last 25% is due at final try on or no dress. There will be a bridezilla surcharge of 25%. In the event of a three strikes bridezilla event ALL work ceases. The dress will be handed over AS IS irregardless of progress & 25% of stated fee will be kept in addition to the bridezilla fee. I’m sure you, your wife & your maliciously compliant attorney will be able to come up with more. One of your assistants will accompany the bride when she tried on or removes the dress. She’ll never be left alone. This will ensure she doesn’t steal anything or sabotage the dress. Your daughter’s will love having a daddy that can make their dresses/clothing & outfits for their baby dolls. Both your sons & your daughters will enjoy having cool outfits for their bears & other stuffies

Overall I'm with the comments for story 2, but I think it depends on how OP wants things to go. I think there is room for a conversation with SIL about how her comments made her out to be a deeply unpleasant person and how OP doesn't want to hang out with anyone who could take his skills in a *hobby* that he uses to show his love for others. But based off the description OP gives I'm not super optimistic about it and I'd just say 'nah'. But

Bridezilla is wrong, but there were parts of OP's post that did sound like she was right about OP and Ryan. But, then she said the thing about them meeting in a grief group and it made more sense. You would be bonded to someone like that The saying is living well is the revenge

Story 1, nta. Update, so typical that after bridezilla blew up her relationship she blames op 🤦. That tells you right there who she really is. Given that she's now wanting to "weed out" to see who her true friends I'm betting she's a narcissist. She's just getting more upset that people are coming to their senses and are siding with op plus now ex fiance. Also, to "play both sides" to blow things up means she's trying to ruin op and make look bad but in reality she's showing her true colors. Update 2, she's only trying to play that angle because she's trying really hard to make op the villain. Op, I would at least, expose bridezilla's lies and expose her again. Or else she's going to keep trying to pin everything on you.

Did i miss something? "Weed out" and "Play both sides", that is Rachel, getting more evidence ,wanting to nuke the bridezilla 's life. She is the one standing up for op and Ryan.

A steampunk metal dress, with rivets, cogs and gears, with a leather corset top! I sew, make jewelry, quilt, paint, draw, write. That’s sounds like an amazing dress Mark!!!! I may have to attempt something like that, it would be an awesome costume or fancy dress 👗.😂. I would never do it, I’ve made so many baby quilts over the years, and they are rarely appreciated. It takes hundreds of hours to make even a baby quilt, a wedding gown would be hundreds if not thousands of hours. Don’t do it.

Story 1 I'd just be petty; fully pay for a venue in your name. How exactly are they supposed to kick out the person who's name is on the reservation? OP could probably threaten to kick them out if they don't allow them.

Seamstress here, no way, no how. I only sew what I want, for whom I want. One solution, aside from saying no, hell no, and don’t bring it up again is to set the price point so high, like 25,000. With 75% down , due before any fabric is purchased, should cool her enthusiasm.

Nope. My little seamstress heart doesn't put up with that kinda bs. Money or not, it is time spent thinking of that person while making something special. For an ungrateful bigot? Nah. Not worth any energy.

Story 2 - If teh SIL is disrepectful to OP for being a man who likes to sew, this is like people saying "Cooking is for women!". No, no career is just for one gender. Women can go into heavy labour if they have the strength and can put up with the machismo. Cook is not for women only and most of the big chefs are men. My mental image of a fancy tailor is a tall thin man, so even when thinking of stereotyped ideas, sewing is a man's craft. I also hold that men who have the skills that are often called "Women's Work" are men who have a useful life skill. Men who can cook can cook their own food. Men who can sew or knit or crochet can make clothing for themselves. I respect that and say OP is a good guy for working on his craft (and it sounds like he's multi-talented craftwise).
