Bridge Out! But I Make It To Denman

After visiting "The Grandis" my plans to join the Old Pacific Highway are stymied by the removal of a bridge!! This means re-tracing my tracks down a really fun dirt road... what a shame!
The potential of a long, highway day encourages me to find some twisties and back roads along the way, the sun shines, and all is good :)

Ah, the late road closed sign. I guess they do it the world over! Tunnel revs never get old 😀 Mrs C appreciated the parrots. I always smile at a parrot.

Yep- why tell you at the start of the road? That would make too much sense 🙄 I love all the parrots, lorikeets, etc. here, breaks my heart when I see then caged, seeing them in the wild they obviously are amazing, happy flyers!

The bridge out reminds me of my escapades in the Tasmanian jungle! 🤣 Still a nice ride back to the highway even though you had to do yet another U-Turn! 🤣 The caravan park in Denman looks good, I always remember doing a U-Turn there myself in 2013 trying to get to Bylong Valley Way, but took what I thought was a wrong turn and ended up back in Denman and taking the highway around to Mudgee instead. If I'd continued on the dirt, I would have found Bylong Valley Way only a few minutes later! I'm looking forward to the next one as it looks like a great campsite!

Ahh - yeah I know where you were and went wrong! Bylong Valley Way is just a sensational ride, will feature prominently next week. Funny enough, 2 years ago Nicole and I were going through there and got detoured from just before Bylong via Mudgee to get to Rylstone (floods closed the road) - it was a 160Km detour!!

@@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger Yeah, my mistake cost me a lot of time that day and wasn't the only mistake I made. Taking the wrong road to Goulburn out of Bathurst also made sure I was still riding in the dark trying to find somewhere to stay and riding on dirt as the sun was setting! A great road though and a great memory, even if it was stressful at the time! 🤣

Yeah it's a bit hidden out the South end of town - pretty nice place, amenities are great and a lovely waterway alongside. Yep- Ganguddy is Wifey and my favourite place, we've always had a treat of flora and fauna to wonder over there, we'll be back in October.

The weather certainly improved as the ride continued on your big trip for 2024. Sunshine and “wiggles” always make for a great ride! One question Capt’n. Your tarp poles where did you buy them from? I’ve just invested in a good quality light weight 10x10 Ft tarp. I did find some ideal super compact tarp poles made in the USA, but the postage cost from America would have been $143 so no way I’d pay that.! So now I’m still on the look out for something more local here in OZ.

Yeah it was an amazing offer! I was only a Km from the end, which would have brought me out onto an old favourite road - Wooton Way - but it was just as much fun to ride back along that trail anyway. For a big mileage day, it was quite enjoyable, cheers Tony.

Cool video mate. Thats a fair ride. Where did you start the day? I've never been to the Grandis but I will one day. Denman is a great little town, I lived there for about 8 or 9 months from Nov 2022. I'm now in Muswellbrook but would have no problems moving back to Denman. Where was the last place you rode to? Cheers Jim

Thanks mate. I started the day about 20Km back up Lakes Way, in The Ruins Campground, but had already made one detour to Smith's Lake to a cafe. Yeah Denman's great, you start to see the magic of the mountains there. The last place was Ganguddy / Dunns Swamp - from Rylstone you ride East into Wollemi NP to get to it.

Yeah sorry mate, as explained early in the trip, I actually told no-one where I was going, wasn't in the best head-space and need to sort myself out. I actually detoured in via Clarencetown and Rutherford, - for some reason I though you were further south, near Gosford!

they never fixe road out there or anywhere i know of roads that have had the bridges out for 7 years--- they just close em--- god help the fire trucks
