@@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger 🥰 Everytime I see a water crossing I think of you🤣 I was watching another KZbinr pull on to a gravel car park a few days ago on a Triumph 1200 Adventure thingybob.... there was a 'puddle about 8" round on the entry to the parking place..... I'm talking to the screen... 'Do not ride over that puddle' He heads straight for it...🙁 It's a hole, probably at least (guessing) 6-8" deep 'It' washes out the front and spits him onto the gravel in an instant. He was a big guy and was able to get it back upright. Thankfully it just snapped the handguard...which was lucky as it was a 'demo' bike he was test riding while he was getting his bike looked at. He had to pay for the damage and later bought a similar bike, so, that really was an expensive test ride. 🙂

Yeah, the old Tenterfield Road is great, haven't been on it for a few years - you probably ended up on Busby's Flat Road, which also comes out onto Clarence way, and is a great ride. You'd probably remember getting to the Old Lawrence as you would have needed to do a fairly tricky trail at the Start of it, off Busby's Flat, over the Range at Cherry Tree and then down to where this ride started.

@@orionswitness Absolutely mate, my bike is just a road bike - 17" front and 80% road tyres - The ride I did here, and Busby's Flat Road, are easy gravel. The other end of Old Lawrence, where it meets Busby's Flat Rd - is trickier as it goes over the range.

Interesting, I've riden the Clarence Way many times. It used to be almost all dirt. Now a lot of it is sealed sadly. Normally I'm trying to get to Grafton from Brisbane so not to many detours, but it's good to know about this one. I've just had to purchase a new gps. A Garmin zumo xt2. The sun destroyed the on off button on the old unit even though the bike is stored under a cover. Live and learn. I don't really expect any big improvement, I like to have another navigation system as well as Google Maps.
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger7 күн бұрын
Yeah - I just managed to get a ride in on the Clarence Way when it was still mostly dirt - very slowly as I'd just started riding. This is an awesome detour, and if combined with Llewellyn Road (between Coaldale Rd and Clarence Way) could make a much funner trip through there. I'm going OK with Google maps, having made a comprehensive Library of Off Line maps, and back it up with my Garmin In-Reach, which will put a very accurate map up on my phone.
