I was induced with my 1st baby, after more than 24 hrs I wasn't dialating much, even after they broke my water. I'm now 6 months pregnant again with 2nd baby (it's been 11 yrs since my 1st) and want to try a vbac. I'm hoping to avoid an induction and hope to go into labor naturally. @NatashaLetourneau I prefered my natural birth. It's so much easier, almost no pain (postpartum compared to c section).I was discharged 3h post birth. I felt amazing. Having a 3yo and a 17mo I was worried about having another c section. I wanted to be able to take care of my babies. I had 2 strong baby blues after my 2 c sections. Not related to the births themselves but about the recovering that was hard in my case. I'm by myself right now with my 3 babies, my husband is working full time and still no baby blues at sight 😉

I am 42 weeks pregnant, the pressure for induction is almost unbearable as a previous c section. I am super low risk and i am praying that the LORD grants me my wish❤ Edit: labour came 42+1 baby born withing 24hours of labour. I ended up with forceps delivery and I am so happy there was no ceaserian section

Hello Bridget! I am currently pregnant with our 4th child and about to give birth vaginally soon. I am one of those women who had a vertical C-section during my first pregnancy due to the baby's breech position and I just want to share that I had a successful vaginal birth to our 2nd child. But my partner and I decided to have it after 6 years. It really feels empowering on my end that God allowed me to give birth vaginally and I am most grateful because I once again gave birth vaginally to our 3rd child (after 4 years) and hopefully to this 4th child right now (3 years from my previous vaginal birth). I just want to inspire other women out there who are planning to have a successful TOLAC and VBAC that it is really possible. Just plan, educate yourself and ask guidance and strength from the Lord because in Him, nothing is impossible. Finally, thank you Bridget for reminding us that our body is built to birth. This is an important takeaway I got from you that could also change the mindset of other women about giving birth. More power to your advocacy! God bless you always!

@@nyasiamartin7479 Hey so somethings I did was Drinking redraspberry leaf tea at 24 weeks .If your looking to have a vbac drink this tea. Rrlt helps to strengthen your uterus. Exercising on my ball at 32 weeks and as I got closer to my due date I was on it everyday. I ate dates at 38 weeks until my due date. I also took a tincture from amazon called Gentle birth without blue cohosh ( my active labor was only 2hours I pushed for 2hours. I labored on the toilet to help my son come down. I also prayed to the Lord to be healed from my birth trauma. I watched birth videos on how to endure natural labor

I searched and searched. Im on medicaid and that made it feel even more impossible. Thankfully I kept praying, kept searching, and finally found a provider and I get to go see him for the first time 11.21.24 and I am about to hit 27 weeks. I'm not sure how the appointment will go but I am overjoyed with the idea that the Lord has gotten me this far. So keep looking, keep asking questions, keep calling around! Look for a support group and ask the women for recommendations on Dr's maybe that could help?

I am super emotional rightnoww.. The first bit of information you gave up until 4:00 i think. That basically stated that i’m in the ‘good start zone’, made me cry so much! I am currently 12 weeks 3 days and reading allot of information of what is to come. Videos like these really help me with all the orientation i’m doing! I had a VBAC on 01/21. My doctor had initially scheduled me for a csection on 01/24 in the case that I didn’t go into labor on my own. He did not want to Induce me due to possible uterine rupture because the medicine used to induce was “very strong”. I thought that was off since my prior csection was 11 years ago. But thankfully I went into labor on my own and having a positive mind and very supportive nurses, helped me deliver naturally in only 9hrs.

They told me that too with my son and I think they weren't lying cause my body was pushing him out but my bones weren't open wide enough and had a csection and he had a conehead for a few days because of it

The reason I had to have a csection was because of an awful nurse. Once I got my epidural I was not allowed to move in my bed, I was told to lay completely flat on my back, I wasn't even allowed to lay on my side. I was too afraid to advocate for myself and so I became a failure to progress

Same here. After 3 C sections i finally found a midwife who let me TOLAC after 3 C sections and being pregnant with my 4th. No complications, no medications, no interventions. I had a home birth May 2021 after 3 C sections. Healing time is much easier of a recovery

Hold your hopes and dreams very loosely, ladies - I had every reason to expect a successful vaginal birth first time around and ended up in an urgent c-section after a 3 day induction that failed miserably and resulted in fetal distress. We had no idea that my health complications had so damaged baby’s placenta, the stress of a vaginal birth would have been impossible for him to tolerate. A c-section saved both of our lives. Sometimes, there are just complications and problems beyond your control that you can’t even know about until it’s all over - it’s far more important that you both come out of it alive and healthy than that you have one type of birth over another.

This is not always the case. I hate that you had an experience that caused distress and I am so glad you were able to have a labor and delivery that you were at peace with. But by saying "as long as you and baby are alive" very much diminishes the emotional and mental aspect of birth. I had a traumatic csection, one that could have been handled differently. EVERY birth has the goal of a healthy baby and mommy, so of course that is most important, but there is real emotional trauma that comes from some births. Having a plan and going into it with knowledge and a supportive team makes a difference. Some of us women need those hopes and dreams in order to experience that healing.

@@SaraStiltner Please don’t assume I’m trying to dash your hopes or anyone else’s; only to add a bit of warning to approach every birth experience with open hands 🙂 I do know about birth trauma. I experienced a lot more than “distress” when my son was born - a great deal of trauma and I was not at peace with a section at the time. Three days of trying to induce a natural labour that was never going to be possible, due to severe preeclampsia. Bullying and coercion from hospital staff and medical professionals who told me I was going to kill myself and my baby if I wouldn’t give up on my natural birth. PPD and anxiety still unresolved almost 2 years later. Nightmares for weeks after the fact. But there was is comfort in knowing that I did everything in my power to bring my baby into the world safely, and that I can do the same again in the future - however it turns out. All I was saying is that a lot of birth is out of our hands and we have to accept and control what is ours to control, and let go of the rest. A supportive team that knows where you’re coming from and where you are aiming to end up is fantastic! 🙏🏻 I hope you have a wonderful birth experience whenever you have another child and I’m sorry to hear you had a traumatic experience previously. Our hopes and dreams for the future do get us through so much. But I would just encourage you that healing can still happen - for all of us who struggle with previous birth trauma - even if those dreams don’t come true the way we thought that they would 💛 You are still an awesome mommy and a strong woman, however that next experience may turn out. I wish you all the best!

Your advice is sobering and realistic. I thought I was going to give birth naturally but my baby just wouldn’t flip. I ended up having a very positive birthing experience via c section. It was planned and I just accepted it. I felt no pain during the procedure and healed very nicely. This was not the worst surgery I’ve ever had. Happy that it was such a smooth experience and wish the same for others

I want nothing more than a natural VBAC after my high risk emergency C-section with my second … an artery was cut so now they say I have 5% risk and say I only can maybe do early induced VBAC with epidural highly monitored and to be honest after two traumatic labor’s and a third not already heading the way I want I’m just heartbroken with all my deliveries. Severe PTSD with them all… my first was 55 hours and got stuck and ended up with epidural in the last bit and I won’t go into details of what happened but I’m praying that maybe the LORD would give me some sort of miracle …

On my 4th vbac. I've always been fortunate to have good midwives but since moving to Hawaii, they've tried everything to get me to be on board with a csection. No thanks. I just found out that I'm pregnant again yesterday. This will be my 4th baby. I'm also 9 months post-partum and my last baby was born by c-section. Im short too so im classed as obese. I've never been remotely close to this big before. Im so worried my weight is going to cause an issue to go for a vbac. I want my vbac desperately, I really want to give birth naturally. They induced me at 40 weeks and 4 days with my first but I shouldn't of let them. I should of waited it out. Im alot more informed this time and know what I want so I won't let them talk me into having anything I don't want this time. I got to 5/6 cm but was stuck at that for over 9 hours and baby was distressed so resulted in emergency c section then I had sepsis and retained placenta from the c section was very very ill. I don't want to have to go through that again it was very traumatic

Hey Bridget!! I just want to thank you for all the amazing info on your KZbin channel. I was really blessed by all the information before giving birth to my 3rd daughter in March 2020. I was able to have a successful VBAC with my 3rd after having a scheduled C-section because my 2nd baby was breech. I was just wondering, after a successful VBAC, if I have another kid what do they consider that? Is it a normal pregnancy or will it be another TOLAC? I've been looking for the information but can't find anywhere. Thank you for this amazing service that you provided all of us mommas!!

I'm 32 weeks prego with my 3rd child. Previous 2 were c sections. First was an emergency c section from stalled labor at 10cm and fetal distress. That was a terrible experience I don't want to repeat. 2nd one was planned. I never went into labor with #2 I was just miserable from severe prego symptoms to the point where I couldn't eat or sleep enough and didn't want to suffer any longer. I have no idea what to expect this time around. I was told #3 is currently in the 95th percentile for weight so I am not sure if I really want to try for a vbac or not if she's gonna be huge. The only reason I even considered a vbac is because I have heard that the recovery time is a lot quicker than a c section. My c sections were quick and easy without any complications though so I kinda like the idea of sticking to what I know. For now I'm just gathering info.

I fit all the recommendations for a vbac except that I’m 43. I’m fit and healthy and have had several vaginal births but my last was a c section because the baby changed position after I went into labor and it stopped my labor. I am trying for a vbac in March because I want a better recovery.

Would love to know how it went and what you did in order for successful Vbacs. I had an emergency csection with my first baby last month and I am heart broken I couldn’t deliver naturally/vaginal birth. I had been in labor for almost 10 hours and then was told I needed a csection bc my sons heart dipped when I was given pitocin, I was already 7 almost 8cm dilated. It’s been really hard mentally for me.

@@Operafan1005 oh I'm so sorry. I really understand. I think the most important thing to have a successful VBAC is to find the section rate of WHERE you are delivering and then find a truly supportive VBAC doctor. In my experience the solo practice doctors are more supportive. So basically you need to find a VBAC supportive doctor who delivers in a low section rate hospital/center. Personally I went into spontaneous labor 1x at almost 42wks. She came after a very long long drawn out labor with lots of interventions. My 2nd VBAC was induction for pre eclampsia, it would have been an emergency csection but my OB went to bat for me and basically gave me 20 minutes to push my son out. He was sunny side up with a nuchal cord and was having decels. That labor was a full induction with magnesium and pitocin. My 3rd VBAC actually just happened 3wks ago. Again I was as induced for preeclampsia, and was on Magnesium and Pitocin. I refused the epidural, and was as mobile as I possibly could be on Magnesium (they normally make you stay in bed because it messes with motor function.) I'm convinced not getting the epidural allowed things to progress much faster than the previous times. Sorry if I'm all over the place. I hope this made sense. I truly get grieving the birth experience you didnt have. Just remember it doesnt go as planned for most people, and at the end of the day the healthy breathing baby is what matters most. I had a repeat section just under a week ago. I was very upset because my body did all it needed to do on it’s own. I dilated all on my own, my water broke on it’s own and I successfully made it to 8cm dilated without any pain medication. I then got an epidural because I couldn’t take the pain (I was stuck at 8cm for over an hour and a half). Nonetheless, even after an epidural, my body continued to fully 10cm dilated. I began to push after hours of waiting for the urge that never came. I pushed for almost 3 hours. My doctor could see the head but the head would never get past a certain point. I was pushing with all that I had in me. And my doctor said my babies skull bones were just pushing again my pubic bone. My pubic bone wasn’t allowing her through. This was the same issue I had with my first daughter. After this second time, I felt like next time I should just schedule a c section because clearly my body can’t do this. But am I wrong? Can my body still do this? Can I some how make my pubic bone wider or open up? I’m so frustrated. I’m thankful for two healthy girls but I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to a vbac and how badly I wanted my recovery to be easier.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. I think there are some positions like squatting that can "expand" or flex the pelvis so that it opens more widely for baby to go down. Maybe you can discuss this aspect with doctors and midwives to confirm.

You might have an angled cervix opening. Which you can still have a successful vagina delivery. My friend had this same issue and they had a home birth. Her husband literally had to take his fingers and lift her cervix so the babies head could come through while she pushed. This may or may not be the issue,, I don’t know but it doesn’t hurt To do some research for yourself. 😘

The truth is being 37+ or carrying extra weight simply does not increase the chance of uterine rupture. OBGYNs would like you to think so but it just isn’t true. Just hoping any older and/or overweight mama’s hoping for a vbac who are watching this and are finding her words discouraging will be encouraged by that!

I’m 33 and overweight and currently pregnant and going for a VBAC. I found an excellent doctor and care team that has been supportive and in no way discourages me from VBAC because of my weight. The factors my doctor has been monitoring are my blood pressure, blood sugar and other factors that may affect the health of the baby and me, but so far everything has been good. I would just suggest to manage your weight during pregnancy which was recommended but not pushed on me, I was told to just do my best to maintain a healthy diet and keep active.

the first caesarean section was because my water broke, I was 40 weeks pregnant, but the baby was high up, it wasn't lowered down into the canal, I wasn't open at all, I didn't have any pain or contractions, the cervix wasn't softened at all, etc. , the body was simply not ready for childbirth at all, that's what a doctor told me.. is that recurring or non recurring issue?? 🤔 7:12

For number 2. You said understanding your c section. My baby had a small abdominal at 37 weeks so I was suggested induction. Ended up with c section was because I was diagnosed with GBS, & my induction failed after 10 hours of waiting for dilation. Could I still have a chance to try for vbac?

I am 31 weeks due April 28th and I am hoping to get my VBAC 💜 I have been doing so much research and this time I have a midwife and it has been an amazing prenatal experience sofar. My hospital just opened up a birth center that I am not eligible for because it will be my first attempt at a VBAC and Incase the chance of rupture I need to be within the hospital.. it's a little disappointing but as long as I get my VBAC I don't care where I deliver 😂

Hey girl, thanks for all your videos. One day I was desperate looking for some videos or tips about the good candidate for a Vbac because my doctor wanted to try. I was so negative, stressed and scared because all my family give birth with C-section. When I told my doctor, his response was”what your family history has to do with you?” So I started to see your videos for some peace of mine 🥹🥹🥹 and guess what??? I had a successful Vbac last week with not pain medication at all ☺️☺️☺️. I did all my exercises, healthy eating since the beginning and positive birth affirmations, I also prepared myself about managing contractions with my husband. He was truly an amazing support ❤️. By the time I got to the hospital I was about 7 centimeters, when the doctor came an hour later I was 10 centimeters. We had not time for nothing even he didn’t even have time for changing clothes. I learned how to push in the moment and it was a short labor and delivery 🥰🥰🥰 thanks for all your videos that was a bless ❤️❤️

First thing is find a supportive doctor and talk about if you are a good candidate for a Vbac. Try to educate yourself about it, a healthy diet, exercise for pregnancy. I also did a lot of walking 45 mints a day plus 10 mints walking after each meal. If you can try to have sex every other day as I was told by my doctor. I also had a supportive nutritionist,she was a amazing she helped me chose good vitamins for pregnancy and a diet plan, so I never had a swollen feet. Try to have the lamaze childbirth class with your partner and a lot of positive birthing affirmations.

I live in a rural area in aus so there’s my local hospital and the next closest one is about 2 hrs away however the ob that runs my local hospital was so rude and uncomfortable and when he said we need to do an emergency cesarean and I started crying (obviously shattered that it had come to that) he deadpan asks me “why are you crying?” Then makes a show of asking everyone why I’m crying like I’m stupid.... I’ll be making the trek to the other hospital for my vbac 🤦🏼‍♀️

My son was breach so I had a c section at 40 weeks. I had a low transverse incision. After I hemorrhaged a bit but did not need a blood transfusion. It stopped with pitocin and fundal message. My son is now 1 1/2 he will turn 2 and a week later my next baby is due. So they’ll be exactly 24 months apart

Thanks a lot for posting this video. I had a c section because baby was posterior and did not put pressure on the cervix, leading to me not going into labor on my own but having to be induced... Labor began and but did not progress at the rate that care provider wanted. Would this be a recurring or a non recurring reason? I am doing what I can to prevent posterior labor this time. I'm 40 weeks today and my OB scheduled me for repeat C Section 2 days from now. I assumed I would have this baby by now as I've had irregular contractions for the last month at least but now it seems that is not enough time to go into labor on my own. My first CS was due to breech presentation and anterior placenta. I'm 35 in good health. Baby is head down and all checkups have been good. My daughter is 18 months old now. I'm really thinking I'm going to call and postpone my csection to give my body a chance to go into labor on it's own. Any additional advice?

Update: I had a successful VBAC 5/15/2020 of a healthy baby boy! Owen William Rizk 6lbs 14oz. My water broke 5/14 around 830am and I had to to go to the hospital that morning although I was not having regular contractions due to risk of infection. I walked around and did squats trying to get some contractions going. I had to get a cervical balloon placed bc i couldn't be induced with cervidil due to previous c section which was in for 12 hours to open cervix which was 1. The next morning I got to 4cm with some but not regular contractions. I made the decision to keep trying for vbac and they said I could get some pitocin and I made the decision to get an epidural as I had experienced a lot of pain with the cervical balloon, due to an accidental installation of all 120ccs into uterine balloon (supposed to be 60 split into 2 balloons) the doctor caught it but I realized how much pain I could manage and it was less! I also experienced compartmentalization of epidural so had 1 sided relief. Got a bolus of medicine diluted to create volume to reach the other side and did have more relief. Yes you have to stay in bed then and get Foley. There were many steps to this process but active labor, pushing lasted about 15 minutes after around 32 hours of progressing through the stages. Hes healthy and beautiful and I do have some vaginal stitches which are painful but I'm able to stand up with him and help out so much more than with c section. I also will be able to drive safely although it's too painful this week. It was not an easy process but I'm so glad I decided to push the csection and he finally came. The Lord had a plan all along and every pregnancy looks so different. Do what is right for you and your pregnancy and your baby. :)

Good luck, my first baby was C-section because he was breech, then I went on to have 4 vaginal births, try to avoid induction as that increases the chances of another C-section and the pain is ridiculous, by the grace of God I was able to safely deliver my baby but it was not a good experience at all, but then again I didn’t want an epidural and took another medication instead, if you and baby are healthy try to labor at home as much as possible
