I'll always have a soft spot for Brid. been going there since the 50s, with my wife in the 70s, daughters in the 90s and now with my grandchildren, nice to see it being tidied up but the last time we went I was dismayed to see that the motorboat pond had gone; long live Brid.

I was actually in Brid on that day. I stayed for a week. It’s one of my favourite places, but it’s lovely after the end of the tourist season when it’s quieter and peaceful. A nice walk along the sea front is the best.

I’m 55 years old now, I have so many happy memories of holidays in Brid as a child , my father also holidayed there as a child , he passed away in the early 90,s but he left us with fantastic memories of family holidays in Bridlington ! Most shops/cafes you passed we had been in , in the 70,s I remember “ snaps “ if you know Brid , you will have heard of snaps , and my dad loved the harbour and flambro , I remember walking back to our rented flat at night and seeing the lighthouse flashing in the darkness , as we walked along The sea front , I felt so safe with my mum and dad in the dark , with fish and chips ,, heading the sea crash and the distant sound of the amusement arcades as we headed back to out flat , I could go on and on ha ha , the last time I visited was about ten years ago on a day trip , it looked dismal , empty , scruffy .. nothing like when I was a child ! But seeing your footage it looks so much cleaner and nicer now ! Sadly most shops shut up , I don’t see why these seaside resorts don’t take a leaf out of Whitby’s book , they are open all year ! I’m going in December to whitby and so exited ! Surely it would be good for the local area , jobs etc ., rather than deserted until spring ! Thank you for showing us Bridlington and brining bank lovely memories for me ! 😃

Last time I went to Brid was just after Christmas about 4 years ago. There were just enough cafes etc open to make it pleasant to have a walk then a coffee. Even managed some fish and chips. Been visiting since I was a small child. I’m 48 now. A place that holds a lot of memories in my heart. I love the redeveloped areas. Not sure it is concrete or Yorkshire Stone. Looks nice though. Good to see the Yorkshire Belle at her mooring in the harbour. Used to cruise on that as a kid. Always worth a trip to Flamborough to the lighthouse whilst you’re in the area at this time of year. I thought you might have mentioned the old lifeboat house that you walked past right at the beginning. The lifeboat was housed there from 1903 until the current station opened in 2017. Great video. Really enjoyed it.

Lovely place with so much to see up and down the coastline and the often missed inland pleasures of the Wolds. I believe the Yorkshire Belle still sails from there. It's done a few miles since I first went on it in 1954! Brilliant video production. Keep up the good work.

Great video! I used to visit Bridlington a lot, had family living there so I've been pretty much every season. It's nice out of season, I remember once paddling in November, more than 40 years ago. The sea wasn't too cold, either. They've certainly done a lot of redeveloping there around the harbour and on the sea front. Last time I was in Brid was March 2017, had a walk down to the harbour at night, very cold, raining and quite a few blokes fishing from the harbour wall. Gluttons for punishment!

Yay from 8.09 to 8.15 I could see my house/b&b when you panned round to the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club from the harbour top. We are next door to them and used to be part of The Ozone hotel but the house was sold off before the Ozone was sold to the Yacht club in the late 30s. Laurence of Arabia stayed in the Ozone when he was billeted here in the 30s to train. We still get very busy at weekends and the shops are all open. Half term was very busy all week followed by a very lively scooter weekend. Dog owners often come off season as the whole of beaches become dog friendly from the end of September. There are lots of dog friendly cafes pubs and restaurants (and B&Bs 😉) Great video.

In fact, start at Sewerby / Sewerby Hall 2 miles north and walk into Brid, where you ended this video. Dad got his first car in 1956 during the Suez Crisis so didn’t need a qualified driver in the car, an uncle had a caravan on a big site south of Brid and we went to it for several holidays. We also stayed in a flat but I didn’t visit again until we stayed in Filey with our young family in the early 1980’s and drove down to have a look round. It was probably 2010 or so until we visited again, we had been to the Yorkshire Arboretum at Thorp Perrow with our 5 year old granddaughter and afterwards popped over to Brid. I must admit I didn’t recognise much of the town, it has changed quite a lot, from your walk for the better.

Great video. I love Brid. But on my last trip I had booked for three nights at a place in the North Beach. I checked in around 1.30 and had a walk up to the Spa area. On returning to my accommodation I passed a group of undesirables drinking opposite the apartment.. They were still there when it got dark and my car was nearby. This triggered my anxiety so I left without spending one night. This was in October 2021. I normally stay in the South Beach and will do so in the future.

My Grandparents lived just off Queensgate (my cousin now does having moved off the seafront in the vicinity where you began) and my mother was brought up in Brid. Many childhood holidays and memories of the times there. There has been a vast amount of redevelopment along the seafront, some of it good and other parts not so good. It is not in the least bit surprising to see it so deserted off season. The various Topham owned shops around Brid are my mother's uncle's side of the family. What new camera gear are you using? Being on a gimbal it is still somewhat up and down in time with your walking.

Your new device seems to work well. You were wondering what workers there do in the winter when their place of work shuts down. I don't know, but I would thing that if they made and saved enough money, they would holiday in warmer climes if Covid allowed. If not, Bridlington looks like a nice place to be if you dressed for it. I have no problem staying in my town in winter as long as I wear sweaters and tour via KZbin.
