Huge fan of Brigador. The callous, matter-of-fact horror of the lore is stellar (no pun intended). The bleak, miserable dystopia contrasted with ultra-rich environs really drives home the message of the game. Which I'm sure is up for interpretation, but probably shouldn't lead anyone to conclude "hypercapitalist authoritarianism and interventionism = good". So much effort went into the flavor of this game, and it makes the experience so much richer for it. This could have been the same game mechanically, but lack any of the charm - and I wouldn't have nearly the attachment to it, despite how great the actual gameplay is. The writing really elevates it.

Where will I be able to throw money at you for the spinoff/sequel/whatever book? First one wasn't exactly my cup of tea as I enjoy stories with more personal stakes and character makikg choices and sacrifices for things they find important but I'm absolutely up for another good mech story Haven't found many, also the reader is magnificent for the tone of the book If it'snot finished, bloopers might be funny if he makes any silly noices when reading fails =P

This book is a direct sequel to the first one but is much more character-focused, and the text is written and "done" though there are a few other things that need to be fixed up before it can be released properly as both an ebook and audiobook.

Thankyou for this! I love Brigador and the information on the more crazy looking pilots is great to know! I was wondering is there an explanation for the pilots like Steve Lichman or The Precursor? They appear to be quite dead are they cephaloids of some kind or something else? Or are they simply a funny joke?
@DarkDoomguy2 жыл бұрын
Steve Lichman is a reference to, well, Steve Lichman, a webcomic. As for The Precursor, I think this is a definite case of something that doesn't need to be explained. He exists, he is terrifying, and that's all anyone needs to know.

All the talk about writing, storytelling and the discussion about Lore vs Cannon was very interesting. Please, don't set a max zoom, I can't get enough of those sprites no matter what vehicle I'm using. Finding the Mother's Love 10 meters apart from you at max zoom should a real spectacle.

1:19:46 - star trek has always been about one thing- the story. And if the story requires the deflector dish to deflect, shield, talk to aliens or barbecue chicken, it . Why are there aliens with one white half left and one black half right and vice versa? Trek had a story to tell. And personally, I prefer "telling a story" to "needlessly wanking to canon" any day of the week.

I despise it when shitty writers make shit up as they go to justify "telling a story" and contradict themselves constantly

I'd say Gundam is too different in tone to Brigador. Besides, most of Gundam isn't grittily realistic (just look at unicorn jesus christ). I like UC Gundam, but I don't think it's a good fit for this galaxy-scale corporate dystopia.

I’m unfamiliar with US infrastructure repair and who does it so forgive me for any ignorant statements, but is it possible that the “fix it when it breaks” attitude is motivated by that fixing infrastructure after it fails is more expensive it would allow the companies that do the fixing to jack up the prices?
@stellarjockeysofficial5 ай бұрын
The implication is that it's more lucrative to allow things to break rather than do the boring, responsible and cheaper thing of maintaining them before that happens

What I’m picking up on how the Lucidites is that they can go wild like maybe the Working Joes from Alien and Alien Isolation or maybe the Replicants from BladeRunner. If I recall, all of these struggled with social cues and processing emotions.
