Watching this video was so rewarding on a personal level. My daughter grew up fishing with me from the time she was three. Every summer she comes out to California to ocean and lake fish with me and she often catches more fish than I do. This year she started bringing her children starting with her oldest (eleven) to do the ocean. I have taken them lake fishing on the East Coast bit now we are breaking them in on the ocean boat fishing. It is a joy and a wonderful bonding experience. Thank you for posting this. It pulls on my heart strings.

I'm laid up sick at home and I've been binge watching all your videos. This is the best medicine ever! I do have a couple wishes, though. 1. I'm from the other side of the planet : eastern Canada. It would be great if you could introduce a particular fish species by its proper name (took me a while to figure out what the heck a 'geetee' or a bangbang or a long Tom was) Would be even cooler if you could tell something interesting about that species that someone from way outside the area wouldn't know. 2. I'd love to know what time of year it is in these vid's. Sometimes its hard to gauge if it's late spring or late summer... especially considering how far north you are fishing. Oh, and I love knowing about the temperature- kind of a OCD thing but still interesting to hear in between and shouldn't cost any extra trouble. Anyhow, keep up the great work, I'm really enjoying these!

Beautiful video. By the way, that swivel is a power clip by tactical angler. They’re popular on the west coast US for surf fishing. They’re cool because it’s one less piece of hardware vs swivel + split ring, but the downside is line twist.

I’ve been on some of the same rocks and fished the same spots so I know how slippery they are. You probably have the highest drag to body weight ratio of anyone under these conditions hahahaha.

Haha the amount of hook sets I've kooked now I just try and run tight enough the hooks set them selves! Even so still dropped so many GT this trip, thinking I'll also getting rid of the fighting belt on future trips, no more drops on the belt transition... Surely start sticking to a few more!

I've considered that too, dropping the belt and just getting used to the pain, especially after seeing people like cavy and ryan land giants without one. The only thing is, the place you're jamming the rod into is the most common place to get a hernia. But I guess it's worth it for a 40kg+ gt hahaha.

Hi Mate, lightest I've used it is PE2 (it's the orange braid on the small saltigas in these latest films and also using it on the heavy setup PE8) held up good, no issues, been on a second trip since this and again no issues. I haven't tried super light yet, but keen too.
